  1. Well breakfast went better already which is great What are people using as their ties? I am using an old lead looped over a metal stake at ground level, connected to their collar, is this ok?
  2. I can't give mine bones that aren't chicken, they chomp them into dangerous sized pieces and swallow, and I spend the next few days wondering if they should go to the vet for an xray
  3. When I normally use "yes" as a bridge I use it in a pretty excited tone, but last night when they would look at me and I said "yes" they woul pull to get to the food and lose focus
  4. I have to make my yes very monotone, or they think its a release and try to pull out the tie (even though they know ok is the release!!! brats)
  5. lol Sunny, I read the whole thing to make sure before I asked!!! Tonight was interesting, one screamed inside while the other did tot, then swap around and the other screamed too :D I guess they will learn soon enough
  6. I think I will start doing it in plastic containers, will be heaps easier in the freezer Does anyone here have a mincer that does bones? How much did it cost you and is it worth it IYO?
  7. How many weeks worth do you all make at a time? I use freezer bags, but its not very "green" but with a month worth at a time it'd be a lot of containers
  8. I know!!! Steve, you have to come down for me and Stella
  9. lol I would love to go to Qld!!! The 19th is the day we come home Where is it going to be held? And what time does it start?
  10. Oh boo hoo :D Can't do that date Can't you just move to vic?!!!!
  11. Yeah I wanted to go to your workshop but its the one that is the week we are in south australia though we may come home in time, what is the date of the one that still has places?
  12. True, I think (know) that the main problem with our obedience is me thinking its boring!!! I will train myself to think positively, it will be fun!
  13. Cool, I'm going to start tonight! This will be fantastic for Ed, who has his issues with tie outs
  14. Thanks heaps for that Gives me lots to start with, I will have to make a decision with my dogs too, whether or not to let go of one! lol and let OH take one on for training Problem being OH is interested to begin with but interest levels drop and I end up taking over, ie I started obedience with Eddie, then when we got Molly, OH would take her to class, but he bored of it, and got very slack with her so he has been my official dog holder for the last few months while I alternate between them Just this week he has become interested again as I have started agility with Eddie, so he has decided he will do it with Molly, but my logic is that if he is to do agility with her, he will need to do obedience and everything as well or she will consider me to be the boring trainer and him the exciting one! I just don't know if I'm too selfish to let one of them go, they both have such great qualities hehe
  15. Oh ok! Holidays are this week in Vic lol Sorry
  16. Are you able to get to the vet? (from memory the oP is fairly young? correct me if I'm wrong) If you can get there, you are better safe than sorry, and you can make up the missed school Actually isn't it holidays?
  17. Ok, my question is with 2 dogs (who currently give me a sit or drop stay - my call - side by side with full eye contact before released with an "ok" for their dinner, they are food vaccuums and are on edge waiting for the "ok" the whole time), Do I tie them both up at the same time, or do I do them one at a time? If I do them one at a time, who do I pick first? Is it significant to them or doesn't matter? Thanks heaps Steve
  18. Is the earth dog stuff done at that little fenced in enclosure up the back near the dam? I've always wondered what that run is for SnT Gemma (stella's bc) is so cute!!! I reckon she will be a star!!!
  19. Wait til they have learnt stand and you can't get them to sit anymore! hehe Some good advice here
  20. I spend alot of yesterday reading this whole thread, some great great info here, I am going to start foundations with my dogs I bought a toy each today (tennis ball and rope tug toys, blue for ed and red for molly) because from what I understand they can't share them or they will lose as much effect Just a quick question, if I am to train both dogs, when I do the tie out, where will the other dog preferably be? Inside where they can see, or somewhere they can't see what I am doing with the other dog? Would it be a good idea to have me with Ed in the backyard and OH with Molly over the other side of the house in the run? What are the drawbacks with the dogs having 2 handlers? Should the handler be irrelevant because the toy is the motivation? I was watching a guy at agility today and he had a tennis ball in his hand, he would ask the dog to do 2 or 3 pieces and then he would throw the ball for the dog, oce foundations have been set, this is the idea? Or to have the tug in a particualr place and come back to it? Or a combination? (I am guessing combination!) Thanks heaps Oh and 1 more, what happens if the tug gets lost or something? Everything starts again (foundations)? Or would a similar toy be accepted by the dog?
  21. Aus, keep in mind, she doesn't do it with us Did you guys read what I said about her with my mum? ISN'T IT GOOD?
  22. Aus, the growl may work if it were me she was doing it to, but my main problem is not her doing it to me (cause we have fixed that part) but to other people who I don't trust to be able to get it right, I have growled at my dogs under certain circumstances before so I don't frown upon you Jeff Jones, thankyou, I must be thick sometimes and I never thought of that as being why she does it, but you are right! I was watching her with my mum today - my mum has an aversion to dogs but is very good with mine considering, however she won't allow their mouths near her, which in this case tunred out to be interesting to watch Molly's behaviour She immediately went to mouth but mum of course didn't let her, so she instead sat and let mum pat her, it didn't make sense to me until I just read your post, so thankyou, Molly just needs more people like my mum around her lol, as opposed to dog people who will "let" her do it to them!
  23. You go to bed at 9pm? You Nana!!!!! Great that there were no poops though
  24. Awww poor bubba! She will forget about it all soon enough
