I'll get down there about 6.30/7 and meeting Stella at 7.30ish for training Kristie be good to catch up again too :D We used Ed to desensitise a very very nervous whippet, who now loves playing with both the staffords (he used to growl and carry on if we were 5 metres away) -

I would try something bland like boiled chicken and rice for a few days just to see if it is the food -

We're down at kcc all the time, will be there this Sat (which isn't any good I know) and tues night -
:D we had the black and red one too! I love the sounds that they make, so funny!
-
She obviously doesn't have staffords! There'd be no lead left :D

Oops when I said collar I meant the correction collar, I think a flat collar for all dogs would be good, as thought they shouldn't need any collar there still needs something to grab just incase
-
I agree with the chain theory, even just having the dog wearing the collar is a training aid, even if it is not being used to correct I'd love to have things like find the car keys and retrieve the ball in trials! :D Make it all relevant to day to day life, and still requires the same amount of training to complete!
-
They played with it alot, but only when we were home and it took a fair while for them to kill it Once the fur was off they played with the ball for weeks, and then with the fur once the ball finally died!

Tried this last night, its working well I have him with both paws on the target, as my end goal is to get him to push the door shut I walked him up next to the yellow pages and with paw command he will put both feet on it, but with no command he will sit as normal, he's a clever boy

Training Your Dog And Working Full Time

I'm so surprised how responsive Ed is becoming, he's turning 18 months next month, and he just seems to really be maturing nicely, and I just love his personality, he's becoming slightly less sooky (though he spent Molly's consult with the eye specialist jammed into the corner of the room with his ears flat back, so he still is a big wuss bag - and he was only there for moral support lol) He still gets the sillies now, but is so much more responsive and seems to listen a bit more that he was -
Thanks ;) We heard the same thing, that the op was less likely to be successful when they are younger, she had her first at about 10 months and second now at nearly 18 months) but she was just being affected too much to wait any more It's so frustrating waiting to see!

Boxa, don't know if he loves the work but he loves the reward ;) & used necks at home, got lots of attention! :p I was doodling last night, and on the right turns and right abouts, I'd rev him up to get him to swing around quicker and treat right away, seemed to be working

JulesP, I do that too, I put them in stays or get them to drop when around the house I have started working on seperate releases, during dinner I can put Ed in a stay and release only Molly, until I specifically release Eddie which is great, he understands now Noisy ;) love that, maybe I need a horse :p -

I'm hoping one day they will get to a stage where I can train with them both in the room, but it's too exciting for one to miss out at the moment so one has to be crated or put outside -

Thanks guys, it sounds right now that I look back at it properley that training both of them will make them keener Jesomil, I love training with friends, so much more than in classes, esp when up past the general obedience class level, so much easier than dealing with people you don't like or those just out to beat you, I'm more relaxed which means they're more relaxed Leopuppy you're right too, there's no rush to get there, adn I'd rather they get there slowly than go overboard and have them not enjoy it Myszka, I'm a bit like you, do some training each night but most of it on the weekend -

Ah thats a good point cosmolo, might make him want to please me more Thinking about it he probably would react that way as if I try to train one without putting the other away they are both trying their best to impress me! -

myszka, do you get the guilts cos you wish you could be doing more? Eddie is coming along so nicely, but I always wonder how much more we could do if I were there more But I guess it's like anything, if I were at home all day, I would probably get distracted by other stuff and still wish I was doing more -

You don't think Ed will see me working with Molly and be affected? I don't know enough about how dogs minds work I don't mind who Molly loves best I just don't want to ruin the work I've been doing with Ed, he come so far, and he's become so much more loyal to me lately, he's really coming along Also, I feel bad training Eddie cos I have to put Molly out which is good for Ed, but upsets Molly, does that make sense? I think I will allocate times at night to do it, so I stick to it, might work better
