  1. Oh the link doesn't go through, it asks for password etc
  2. hehe we got the pattern off the internet http://www.dog-games.co.uk/jumpdiagram.htm Next to make a box, but they are way harder!
  3. My wonderful OH made me these today!
  4. Yeah the first few times my 2 were way more interested in the treat and their feet were all over the place, but then i stopped luring and started only rewarding for a few good steps, and gradually got it to a whole ladder length
  5. Oh you'll be great, just don't get nervous! I am a shocker for that! Will there be anyone to take piccies of you so we can see them?!!!! hehehe
  6. Ed will go into heel like that but he still has no idea that his back legs are attached! I feel exactly the same! Though one less day work, trainign instead would be good too!
  7. Oh cool, we have started working on backing at freestyle Thanks!
  8. Just googled clicker training body wrap and have come up with a few interesting sites and this one mentions body wraps and hair ties on ankles to increase foot awareness as well http://www.canineuniversity.com/articles/h.../health_20.html This one is the karen pryor stuff and says body wrap is different, it is the lead being wrapped around the bosy "Body wrap: You take a 6-8 foot leash hooked to a martingale type collar with the snapped hooked to the "D" ring and with this up on at the back of the dogs neck (not under the dogs chin) and then loop the leash behind and under the front legs and then under and around the barrel of the dog and then feed the end of the lead back though the loop of the martingale collar. So you now have a pulley system around the dogs middle. " http://www.clickertraining.com/node/545 Also found black dog ankle wraps for co ordination, this kind of thing could be good too, I might try to make something up They would only go on the back feet wouldn't they?
  9. ah bugger, no training Whats the latest weather update?
  10. hehe ok! I can have a cheer squad Oh I ordered my flyball harnesses too, very exciting, and have been doing ladder work in the hope that they realise they have back legs and stop crashing through jumps!
  11. Not sure, I'll find out on Wed and let you know I think I am less nervous with showing too, cos it's not so much about what the person is doing, but more about the dog! Obed we have more control over the results, therefore more stressful!
  12. yep double freak out, that's why I go to shows with Kerry! so we can both freak out! Where's the flyball comp that day?
  13. Oh yeah I think I know what you mean, would love to see pics anyway! I wonder if tyres would be too tall for little stafford legs? What's a body wrap? Will have to look that one up They are pretty good on the walk at agility, unless they are too excited, then can soemtimes miss a back foot, we are only learning and I worry about their whole back end co ordination with that! Ohhhh light bulb moment, walk with objects on it so they have to step over them, good idea
  14. hehe it was really cute! They seemed to pick up the gist of it pretty quickly too I might just do a few times over every day, so its not too many times for their little legs! I laugh in the video too cos at the moment you can hear their nails hitting the back of the rungs, and it makes a clanging sound
  15. Oh bummer, would have been good to have you there too tollers! I will ask at club about entry forms next week, thanks!!!
  16. Has anyone used ladders to increase back end awareness in their dogs? I started tonight, just getting them to run up and down on the ladder My reason is that they tend to be unaware of their back legs, when jumping etc At the start I just guided them over the ladder and their feet went all over the place, tripping over, but after a few times they started to be more careful with where their feet went Is there anything else I should be doing or will just walking up and down the ladder help? I guess as they become more careful i can get them going faster Oh when I say ladder, I mean a ladder laid down on the ground, not in the air! lol I took a video today, of the 2 of them going over it! When doing the training I don't normally work with both, I normally do one at a time Just ignore my big bum at the start too!
  17. Thanks everyone! RM it was at southern, and dog dude, the trial is the Southern obed trial, 17th March, looks like its a double trial (are they all double ones?) Anyway 10am and 2pm How do you enter trials? With VCA entry forms or through the club?
  18. Eddie and I went up a level at obedience tonight Now in yellow which is grade 2, so pretty much the eqivilent of CCD plus offlead heeling Instructor that put us up is Molly's breeder, so she is way harder on me than the other instructors, and she does not like putting people up unless they are ready, so I am thrilled She also said she thinks we are pretty right for the highest class, at the next members comp and wants me to trial ccd in March I also took Molly in a beginner 5 class for the first time in about 6 months (OH had been training her but lost interest) and she was a maniac!
  19. I don't think my 2 know how to slow it down! Which could make training interesting, but don't want to make them slow down either Molly didn't quite understand the box/ball thing but she'll get there! Ed was trying to use his mind powers on the instructor (can't remember her name) He sat there staring her out to try to make her give him the ball!
  20. I wouldn't worry about it too much, my two love to swim, in any dam, swimming pool, river, creek, puddle, etc, but they both despise being bathed I do it in the shower with the door shut as it's easier
  21. Well Suz and I have joined up at Berwick to learn flyball! Secod class today and it is soooooo much fun Even if my dogs have no idea that their back half is attached to their front half Tollersowned got to experience their hurdle body slams today! Will be doing some ladder work during the week, and on going for some rear end awareness I think! Actually even I did a hurdle body slam when I got excited that Ed had grabbed the ball from the box and I ran backwards over one (derrr)
