  1. I do both, i just tether one and work the other, they are pretty good, and it gets them more excited about it too! OH doesn't want to scream so he won't do it!
  2. oh yeah I read your other post worng haha With Bronsy and Jorja as well we could have our own team!
  3. Mav is their brother! lol Cos he is Jewels pup
  4. Yeah and they are all related, Ed and opal are full brother and sister, their mum is Jewel and half brother Mav ETA I took so long to post that Kayla had already said that
  5. I swear that litter are so abnormal!!!I am now on a mission to find something for ed to have as his, you're not allowed to throw a ball in there
  6. Cool, make sure you remember which way she turns, cos they can be lefties and righties! So you want to teach her on her natural side to turn on Oh and work on a motivator for her, like a tug toy or something that she will love more than anything, with Molly I used an orbee, Eddie is harder cos he loves his tennis ball the most and we're still trying to figure out what the best thing to use is! Best way is to hold and play with the toy yourself for a few days in a row til she is going nuts cos she can't have it, then let her get it, only very rarely so she doesn't lose interest and so it becomes obsessive, then you use that to increase her enthusiasm to run back to you
  7. Start with one person holding her back then send her out to get a stationary ball, 10 times, and count which direction she turns, thats the direction you will want to teach her to "go around" Then use a stake or something in the ground, even a witches hat, upside down bowl, etc, and start teaching Opal to "go around" the object Start so you are luring her around and as she starts to understand it, start a little bit back and send her out to go around, trying to get her turns to be smooth around it, and recall back to you They will be really impressed if you go in for your first lesson and already have that!!!
  8. I don't think you can decide so early, for instance, Eddie didn't even like tennis balls until he was about 14 months old, we would throw them and he would just look at it, and say "you threw it, you get it" We tried to train him to fetch it anyway, but there was just so much reluctance I thought that my dreams of flyball would never come! Now some of you have seen him recently with a tennis ball Bit of a difference
  9. We do obedience, flyball, freestyle, have started bits of agilty Both my dogs learn very differently, so I have to use different approaches, and it takes very different amounts of time to get them to certain levels of understanding and reliability Dogdude, thats cos they give such good kisses!! To get the dog registered with the canine council as associate register, they need to be desexed, but you also wouldn't have to register them until you are about ready to compete
  10. Lets see if i can put my foot in it does your dog do things for you because they love you, or because they get something out of it? i believe we were talking about training with food, and someone said they dont use treads, that their dog does it because it wants to be with them, and loves them (did i get that wrong? it was early this morning i read it!) so does your dog sit when asked, because it loves you, or because it knows it is going to get something - be that a treat, praise, a pat or whatever it is? Thanks TB, that's how the conversation came up before I went brain dead and lost it!
  11. You'll have to crate train her for shows anyway! Can you just wipe her with baby wipes when she's dirty, staffords don't hold much dirt on them cos their coats are so short, most of it will brush out then wipe with baby wipes to get any dust off Too much washing will make her really scurfy cos it will dry out her skin too much Ed doesn't like dirt much!
  12. Yes I have post before I read disease, which results in me posting crap that doesn't make sense I will leave this alone now, as I'm sure I've made myself look like a big enough dickhead
  13. I guess that is what i meant, that it is not the same as human love I really need to get better at wording things lol A few times I have posted stuff on here, about the dogs, and been told "not to put human emotions on dogs" now I do the opposite and I'm still wrong ;) This dog mind understanding is too hard!
  14. I have never had dogs, or even known dogs until now The reason I asked was because of a lot of reading about human emotions being put on animals, and of people treating their pets as humans As I said in the other thread, I am happy to be wrong about this That said, Eddie and Molly snuggle up to me in bed everyday, trust me Kayla, I am not lacking any form of affection from my dogs ;)
  15. Do you think the dogs love is more loyalty than love?
  16. Do dogs "love" us? Interested in opinions, thanks ;)
  17. Lol, he probably thinks he's going for a walk when he's on lead!
  18. Mine get so confused by whole eggs! Same with cherry tomatos if they occasionally get one
  19. Oh she sounds special So sorry
  20. Yep, we give them whole eggs with crushed shell with their dinner everytime we remember
