  1. Nah you're a big meanie! Just like that tuff dog you've got!
  2. Sat or Sunday arvos fine with me, unless we have a show, but I don't do that many shows
  3. Yeah I think we've established that part already
  4. Nah I'm bringing a whip for anyone that feeds anyone elses dogs! lol I would love to see Stella with a clicker holding up her pants though Knox train Sunday mornings so Sat arvos they won't be there
  5. Pffft who picked on who? lol I bet Ed is still scared of Connor! I was wonderig if the grounds where Knox train would be good, outside of their training times, it's a public ground isn't it? Sound slike it would be good
  6. So right Erny, just taken me a while to get my head around it! RM, yeah for sure!!!!
  7. Awww Ishy!!! You need to move I tell you!!! You can live with us in our new house! Stella, yay!!!! Be good to see you stranger!
  8. Well I feel alot better now I have that off my chest I was so happy when he ignored Molly walking past last night and he looked back to me instead! it was great! and when he stayed while you were running the girls past! How good was he! I won't get too cocky yet, but it was a great start! Oh and LP, ummm let me think about it.......... NO!!!!!
  9. I use clicker for new stuff, and mix of positive and correction for learned stuff for Ed I don't have a problem with different types of training, hope this is ok? Will be great to have others to play with!
  10. I see people correct their dogs in a really aggressive manner (or the instructos telling people to correct and the handler nearly yanking their dogs head off) and I have rebounded from that, and I can't be like that, but a calm quick correction he really responds to well with an uh. He is reactive to them without being soft to them, now that I've finally figured out how to correct him When I was like this with him, he was way more enthusiastic than I have seen him, and as I've said before, he has been bribed with food in the past, there was no food to be seen and he was loving it, he barely needed a correction and he was so happy to get praise at the end I need to get rid of the guilts of this (even as I'm writing it I feel guilty like people will think I'm a bad person or that I hurt my dog) lol yeah he's a spunk and he knows it! Cosmo and Georgie are absolutely adorable and sooo good!
  11. Thanks Erny It's funny cos as I thought more about it last night I felt my attitude changing and you should have seen how different Ed was, it was fantastic, it is a great new beginning I think
  12. Oh well someone I met recently is from Pakenham then! I have a digital camera that takes video, up to 2 gig or 1 hour I think, so we can use that!
  13. I'm in Mt Waverley, and I think from memory LP might be somewhere near Pakenham possibly I go to KCC quite often and train at berwick as well if either of those are ok, otherwise I'm happy to go other places We are moving later this year to Cranbourne too which will be great!!!!
  14. Good idea about sharing vids with people as well I decided on my way home last night that I needed to do something proactive and this thread was my start (as I felt if I put it on a forum I couldn't back out of it!)
  15. LP, I would love to Where do you normally train and when? I work through the week full time, but am up for nights or weekends depending on how busy we both are! Will pm you anyway! lol With the plan, I guess it's really just used as a guide, and you could have a few different ones, depening on the day or what else was happening, or if it was just an off day, not do it at all I have been told for ages not to train if it's just not happening, or if I'm too emotional, but it's only recently that I've been able to understand it, and experience this myself and not push too hard and have found myself stopping sessions, which is a step upward for me I think
  16. Yeah I am the same LP, I am very different when training at home than I am on video or at club Ok, very detailed, I will work on doing that, thanks Can be my work goals, and I can email it home for the training lol I need a training partner, I don't really have anyone at the moment who is as interested in training as you guys are! Makes it harder I think I used to train a bit with WMR but she's having a bit of a break (which is fine!) just I miss having someone to bounce off Filming is fairly easy as I can use a tripod, or get OH to do it, I like filming the dogs, shows me all the evil things I'm doing I guess alot of it is me being alot more formal with training sessions, I've been a bit too relaxed I think, and the dogs don't have a firm enough idea of when we are working and when we're not
  17. What do you suggest writing? Like a list of things we are doing in that particular session? So for eg 1. - Focus work - left turns 2. - right turns - stays Or be more detailed?
  18. I have realised over the last few months that my BIGGEST problem is being inconsistent with training, and not being clear enough with the dogs I think part of it is because I am unsure of what I am doing, and the other part is a by product of that, as in different places and with other trainers I am not confidenet enough to use what I think is right all the time, I find myself doing what I think others are expecting me to do with them I have a feeling I know that people will say "who cares what others think, they are your dogs, you train them how you want" but for someone who is pretty self consious (not the word I want but will have to do for the moment) I find it hard Any tips of becoming more confident with what I am doing, and the ways in which I want my dogs to be trained I see instructors and they are so certain of what they are doing, I have my ideas now of what will work, I just need to stand up for them (btw thanks to Cosmolo, as speaking to her I realised alot of these things - and where my biggest weakness is)
  19. This is great as Ed has been like this on and off for the last few months Bloody teenagers I am also glad to know everyone tends to go through this (just just the newbies like me!)
  20. We lost another one of our oldies last night, I know they're not doggies but I think they deserve their own little threads Scatterpat was a rescue rat that we got at about 2 years old, about a year ago She lived a good long ratty life, with her new friends, even though she lost her litter mate sister Star, last September She buddied up with Basil, and they were always together, he'll be a bit lost now I think She's back with her sister now
  21. Ok, well I have to say after last night I am impressed and jealous of Cosmo's stays, and I will be working lots more on Ed's now! Was great to meet you Cosmolo, and the girls
  22. I agree with that theory Amhailte I kind of use both, Click for good, click and yes at the same time when they are really good, and click, yes and me jumping around and cheering when they are really really good! I kind of figured I need the yes to be known as well as the click, for times like obed when the clicker isn't allowed (one of my clubs allows it, the other doesn't)
