Excellent thank you! Yep have got the dumbell going, well on the flat anyway, box is started, drop on recall going well, and its not slowing down the recall (woohoo!), signals started, just got to learn how to teach scent! There is a site that they talked about on a group I'm on that sells articles, I will have to get some, any advice on the wooden article for a dog thjat likes to mouth? She seems to especially like the feel of squishing wood between her teeth, hence why we have a nylong dumbell! The texture of things seems to be the biggest problem, like with the gloves, it must feel like a dead teddy bear, and therefore something to throw around, not hold onto!

Yeah would love to see how you do it, I'm a food user (my dogs are piggy pigs, who would sell me for the smallest treat!) Great work on the 2 vids too

Any tips on teaching gloves? Just looking for something to start on, thats a bit of fun I have Molly retrieving dumbell and thought I would start but just simply get her to fetch a single glove Didnt work that way, seems the glove is something to throw up in the air, and spit out Any tips, or do I just go with the fetch hold give same as dumbell? Its gets soggy so quickly And are there any reasons I shouldnt start gloves so early on? (She's got her ccd, and is untrialled in novice)

I do the opposite, I feed right before they go to bed as otherwise they end up looking anorexic, they work it off so quickly

Try wiping with cold cammomile tea. The eye specialist reccomended this for mild cases of conjunctivitus

I didnt get any pics but I videoed my Ed and his loony daughter Inca having a go, gees they love it, and it was Incas first real go at it! She was a bit of a bimbo at points, loosing it and thinking it was under a tunnel but chasing dad soon showed her where it had gone! Molly stayed at home after her last few efforts, of playing "try and catch me" at the end of her turn -
Obedience Clubs In Se Sub Of Melbourne ...
shoemonster replied to Lisamot's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Also a good way to learn clicker is to do doggy dancing, canine freestyle, in Dandenong http://melbournecaninefreestyle.com.au/index.html Southern is a good trialling club, they train puppies in a pure positive, but they do take away the food in adult classes, you can use it but they dont specifically teach it they use a more traditional correction chain type training I reccomend going to visit any club you are interested in before enrolling, we went and visited them even before we had gotten out puppy -
Lead Training A Quiet Stafford
shoemonster replied to andrew_leesa's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I agree with DD, only a few steps, massive praise and treats When heeling at home with my 2 who are trialling I still only do short steps, heeling is boring, build it up slowly, make it fun, and if the lead is really bothering her just drop it down so she is dragging it and use the treats, praise etc to keep her with you, (if you are in the backyard/house or somewhere secure) Staffords may look tough but they can be such softies! I use a martingale on my two -
No worries Glory! Springdog well done on your CCD! Go Harry and Brock!!!!

Dogs That Play Too Roughly With Others
shoemonster replied to kamuzz's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We did a similar thing to Wobbly, Molly is over the top and also very vocal, not a good combo for freaking out the other dogs, so she got time out and lost the right to play for even looking like she was gonna get silly. She soon realised if she played rough it meant the end of play Once she relaxed she could go back to play, but any silliness and straight back on -
Nah not doing the royal, I thinkmy next comp is Ballam Park Have Ed's daughter in training to hopefully start later in the year too! Fingers crossed

Just have to say, silverside jerky for humans, mmmmmmmmmmmmm yum!!!!!!!
-
I agree with poodle fan, use her high drive to get her reliable in general obedience and then start your foundation stuff for agility or flyball Vid of flyball, Molly my stafford is the 2nd dog to run
-
I would treat her when she catches you and also treat her every 8th or 9th step (if she surges at 10) ideally treating her just before she would normally surge, therefore making her want to stay with you for longer

Its stinky while its drying, and probably worse because I do it in the garage so its an all of a sudden smell when I open the door to go check it It doesnt make the dryer itself stink though, I did meat in it the other day and mushrooms in it last night no probs
