  2. From the rules Dumbbell: The dumbbell shall be made of wood and/or solid plastic and must be shaped like a dumbbell. It may be painted but shall not be covered with any foreign material. The weight and size of the dumbbell should be in proportion to the size of the dog.
  3. I'm not sure, we do it in Vic but if you go here http://www.flyball.org.au/ And go to the "whats going on" on the left it will bring up clubs, you should be able to find one there hopefully

  6. I got my courage up to enter my first trial after I had a good run through at FOO, after saying I wanted to enter my first one and being too scared for almost 18 months The week before the trial he did the worst work I have ever seen, and I thought I had made the biggest mistake 4 months later both of them were titled, and 5 out of 6 passes between them were wins or 2nd places in ring I had never had a dog before so I went in just wanting to do ok, and not do anything too embarrasing Now i wanna kick butt, so am holding back before Novice to perfect a few things!
  7. Janba, number 2 is voice only Just tried this with a squeaky toy retrieve, 1. First hand signal, I did it a bit fast and she just looked at me, slowed it down and she gave me a great recall, but stood to present (I know we're not including presents but wonder why she did it, she knows to sit?!) 2. Perfect retrieve, stand to present 3. Perfect retrieve, once again stand to present So I guess she is slightly better on vocal, but not sure if that was my speed
  8. We'll be there, 3 teams and its our comp Clover can I swap you so I can have the quiet weekend?!
  9. No worries! I use a plastic dumbell cos as I was teachin it Molly would just roll and chew the wood, she snapped hers in half Now I have her solid with holding I will bring the wooden articles back in, got to get her holding wood eventually!

  11. Here is a Au site witooden dumbells http://www.obedienceproducts.com/about.html I havent bought from them, but am thinking of getting my UD articles from there
  12. love the "Off ya go, all done, finish" cue I think you've answered your own question now though! Its so hard to change the way you do things though isnt it. Until i started TID I constantly thought I needed to be more consistant, do this do that, etc ETA theres still heaps of things I need to get better at but I've improved heaps now, and become more confident in what I'm doing
  13. When we got Molly she was like that, she ripped everything to bits, chewed through doors, and destroyed everything In time she settled in and at some point she stopped doing it, we basically just tried to make sure there wasnt anything around that she could get into How long have you had her?
  14. Luke, do you really want it all the time? You want them to switch off too Do you use a command at the start when you are working up drive, etc, to let him know that work is starting and then release when you're finished?
  15. Ok first was Molly, came in lovely then sat about 10 o clock in front of me almost there! Then Ed, who came to a lovely heel beside me (Mind you with Ed I am not doing these in drive, as we are part way through doing the drive training, but give me a few more months and I'll let you know what a dog in full food drive will do!)
  16. Oooh good one! Just finishing dinner then will go give it a go
  17. I'm so so sorry I'm glad you got to say good bye
  18. Completely OT but seita what program did you use for your sig? I am in love with those frames, I keep meaning to ask you lol ETA thanks
  19. I had a blackdog one that I left treats in and the dogs ate it, lasted over a year no probs until it got eaten! Then a friend gave me her old black dog one and I've used it since, it would have to be at least 3 years old if not more, and never had a problem with it, I use it all the time for flyball, but for obed I have hundreds of jumpers with middle pockets, and vests with pockets, as the dogs got treat pouch smart I have a liner for mine and its been great, though alot of the time I se a ziploch bag as well as the treats are all in the freezer in those bags anyway so I just grab a bag out and chuck it in the pouch
