Rally O Introductory / Practical Training Day
kallistar replied to Sir Sniffalot's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Not long to go now. See you there Melody -
Hi Sniffalot The Rally-O day at Bulla commences at 10.00am as written in October's gazette p.21 Like you I can't find my November gazette. For your dogs, well the usual - crate, water, treats; chair, water and food for you. I think they'd prefer dogs that can or have done Rally-O before I'm so looking forward to attending. I can't get enough information into me. I want to know everything and then more Hi Gamby, see the note from Melody in the other training section below. No dogs other than those who have been organize to attend. Did you registar? Look forward to seeing you there on Sunday

This is Queensland we are talking about The UD judge said that he did things differently to most other judges cos he didn't do the Xmas Tree heel pattern and was very surprised when I told him that Queensland was the only place where you got every position in every pace in CCD. I did enjoy the UD ring the other night. I forgot about there being a mat for the scent articles and I opted for the ground and with the grass being so long, and lighting not great - you couldn't actually see the wood or leather articles, so it became another seekback . Also, Brookie and Scoota do seekback by sight, because of the lebgth of grass Moo was forced to use his nose - very interesting...... This is the third time I have edited this post Kallistar - in every state other than Victoria you are told where to take up position for the scxent articles and wash cloths, Victoria is the only place where you can choose where to send your dog from. I remember Margaret Deakes giving me a choice when we did the Nationals there a couple of years ago - it nearly did my head in - too many choices Yay for Vic for being handler friendly (most of the time)but a few Vic judges a now telling us where to stand for the cloths . Margaret still talks about Scoota and you and how wonderful it was to judge your work And we often talk about UDX and how it is so hard for the dog, handler and judges alike as you have to be so on the ball.
-
the DC was not an easy pattern to do. Tux nearly always creeps forward with that one. SB:I much prefer facing down the ring than across it . Tux nearly always goes into the next ring when we are about turned and halt when it is across the ring. Cloths. I have had that one before Also are you being told where to stand for this exercise? I know that it is to be at least 5metres away from the cloths but shouldn't it be the handler that decided where to stand? The orders for the PIM wasn't right, if my memory serves me correctly, the orders in the ANKC rule book clearly state that the orders are Sit postion coming up..........Now.....about turn, (you walk pass your dog) approx 3 metres about turn and then COLLECT but you cannot argue with your judge.. And wow slow pace to begin with in Signals in UD..

Seekback - Put the handler scented article right next to the ring rope that separated the UD and UDX ring - the decoy was right in the middle of the ring and we had less than 10 seconds to put our smell on the article. PIM - the commands were different to what we get in WA Cloths - were 20cm at most apart Cones - you were sending your dog back towards the start peg and they were the small UDX cones Distance Control - hmm think that was pretty normal. Blind retrieve - hmmm OUtside the ring this judge had markers - so the ones we use for stays that stick into the ground - well instead of putting them into the ground so that they were flush with the grass - he turned them on their side so the were raised, so when you tried to do a blind retrieve all the dog saw were these markers and of course the occassionally clever one - raced out and tried to bring one back. The one he tried to pick up was actually the sendaway marker. Well he could see the marker and just knew that you wanted to see it

Well done on your UD and Open scores and buggar on the UDx one
-
buggar about the fairy crapping on you in UDX, I think that she is just being plain mean at the moment. Congrats on winning UD though. And thanks for the advise. I am so over being sick it is not funny.
-
I know what you mean about not being able to hear judges commands at times and most judges are understanding when you miss a command and speak up so that you don't miss the next one. I have a chest infection atm which sparks coughing fits that stop me dead in my tracks hence why I asked.
-
Just a curious question, what happens if you are doing lets say PIM and you get a coughing attack, what would you do???? And how do judges view it?
-
DOUBLE maybe in Feb then??? That is when the next comp is scheduled And good luck with your PhD
-
Didn't go to the trial due to the stupid rain this morning and I let her know early enough like 5.30am that I wasn't going to be going, so maybe she just got stuck in the desert on the way across to W.A??? So come on Bedazzled let us know your results ... Good luck tonight Ptolomy
-
Thanks Ness.. r u stilling thinking of coming across?
-
Well when I woke up this morning, it was still raining so I didn't go. Needless to say that it is midday and the sun is shining very brightly and is rather warm outside. Oh well will have try and put in a stirling effort at the next trial. GOOD LUCK to you all that are trialing today/tonight
-
Good luck to you both tomorrow. The rain here is not sounding like it going away any time soon If it keeps up I won't be going as I have been really crook for the last 4 weeks. So can I send it your way?
-
It is our freestyle that is only 1.20 so I won't be able to use it in novice. As much as I love John Farnham, I have come to a blank of what moves to do with his songs. Sorry I am distracted right now as I am watching one of my fave show SYTYCD USA
-
well here is hoping that the rain goes away as Tux and I try our luck again. Did a sterling training session on Wed where he didn't miss a beat (but I did) no vocal on the MR. Practise the MR tonight just wonderful.. Tomorrow could be a different story though PLEASE UDX fairy come over and visit me
-
Meant to ask after you have got your started title, do you keep using the same music? Can it be the same length in time..eg 1.20 sec and if so do re choro the piece or add more into the routine? Thought that I had found the perfect peice of music for the Goldie, but...........not sure now. She really needs something that is a medium pace that slows down, any suggestions?

It was Janet that I got my first lot of white leather off and they wasn't acceptable at the start because the orginal version was just thin white leather wrapped around a scent discrem artcile. I got a newer lot from Janet (probably the ones that you got too)and they was approved before the last rule change. Then I was silly enough to lose one of them. Motto of this is do not lose as it is a costly mistake
-
No I don't know about importing cowhide into Aust.. maybe look on the aqis site and see if there is anything there. Janet is great to get our obedience equipment from
-
Hi Ptolomy I got a white leather (mens)belt given to me and cut it to size, then glued the two pieces together to make the thickness of a scent discrem article (though they are prob a 1mm too thick)It made 3 all together. I have heard that this website has white UDX leathers now. The owner of the site is lovely to order from and is prompt with any queries that you might have.
-
Great routine Ness )) So now I hope to see it done here in Nov or Feb ))
-
Stupid rule in saying that you cannot have the leathers stitched. I went through alot of crap to find the white leathers that they would accept for trials. Mine even went to several judges meetings to find out what they would accept. And Ptolomy, sorry that you didn't get a pass.
-
Yes I would love the same performance that I get in training in a trial especially with him being not vocal for the MR's I honestly don't know now how to fix it. He doesn't do it in training but only at trials.
