  1. Gosh it was hot out there again yesterday so we only stayed for one run. I was getting over a pesky migraine and still a bit light-sensitive . Great to meet Alison and Tyler . Tyler is a real sweetheart . The greyhounds and whippets were great to watch. Made me feel a bit taking out dachshunds after the fast dogs, but hey, they enjoyed it. The RRCV people are lovely and the changes seemed to work well. While there were fewer people, it seemed like the runs were going through more smoothly and quickly.
  2. Do they make them in human sizes? I could use one for work.
  3. Late change to ... rain ... sleet ... blazing sun ... keep spinning the weather wheel to see what comes up!!! :p I couldn't sleep last night as it was so hot - now it's bucketing rain. We'll definitely be there if the weather is OK. Darren, thanks for the new guidelines on the web site. Easy to understand and hopefully everyone can get in more than one run ;).
  4. ~bump~ Update on who's going??? Does anyone know the weather forecast for Sunday? The BoM said Saturday is cool and 23 and Sunday onwards 'warming' so it's a tad vague at the moment.
  5. Hi Darren and welcome I've e-mailed some feedback. The next dates are definitely in the diary (excepting heatwaves!)
  6. Schnaggles' belly skin is quite dry this summer with some flakies and underlying heat and redness. Malaseb was helping a bit but we took them to the beach last week and the cool saltwater seems to have helped enormously. We washed them in Aloveen when we got home and five days later his skin is still better than it has been for a couple of months. Dachshunds are pretty low to the ground so our vet also suggested a smear of hand cream on their bellies if they're going outside as paspalum seems to be one of the main irritants. Horses for courses, I guess. I'm keen to try the Aloveen leave-in conditioner as suggested in this thread.
  7. They are cracking good photos, Tim. I can't believe I missed Stoli in action - he's a stunner! Am sending you a PM.
  8. Cute, cute, cute! And Jake is one spotty babe of a dog . Buffy sure likes letting her ears do the walking - Miss Flex-o-hound will be her new name .
  9. Had a fun day as well even though the sun burnt right through my coating of 30+ SPF . We got there just before 4pm and could only buy one ticket - would have been a good hour-and-a-half before we went on if it weren't for the lovely Clover and her friend who did a swap with us . Got to meet some DOLers and their gorgeous dogs - woohoo! The sausage monsters had fun though Shane had to gallop around with them to keep them going. Schnaggles had a slight limp afterwards so we had to bundle them in the car and take them home. He's all good now so maybe it was just jarring from the firm surface as I couldn't find anything stuck in his paws. My folks live in Baxter and their small front paddock would be ideal for this sort of thing *takes mental notes of Graham's technical specs* . Didn't get many good pics but will try to salvage a few for the photo thread.
  10. Hi Graham We are relative newbies to lure coursing as well, so you certainly won't be the only one with a "will they or won't they?" dog on the day! The setup we tried at the Pet and Pony Expo was completely enclosed so it was safe for everyone and relatively easy to round up dogs that wanted to keep going. When we tried, we were on after some experienced dogs and thought, wow, we are going to look like dills , but we had the best time. It's hilarious to watch giant breeds like Great Danes stretch their legs and see the smaller dogs run like the clappers. I haven't laughed non-stop like that in ages. There's some useful info on the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club web site (they're hosting the event this weekend): http://members.optusnet.com.au/ashtar1/new_page_2.html PS Sirius is a total cutie!
  11. With a user name like that, I'm not surprised you have a purple hat. :D  Clover, I'll be the one trying to steal C&E though we don't have many large enough trees at home to satisfy Clover's need to climb them ...
  12. Will definitely be there if it's not a 43-degree day! Shall we all wear purple hats or a carnation on our lapels to recognise each other? ImaShepHead, they are the cutest puppies .
