  1. We desex our puppies around 10wks old both males and females and they all grown up to be normal size.....not sure I have heard anything about the other posts.. this is just going by our experiences.
  2. Look forward to it Michelle... Have a lovely holiday :D
  3. Hi Mitch & Jake, Yes we do, PM if you would like to know more ..
  4. Our puppies in Victoria are sold for around $950 which includes, Microchipping, Vacc, Eye Testing, Desexing, Puppy Pack, Toy, Limited Registration papers, Food and a booklet with all the history of parents, grandparents, great grandparents ( this is including all Hip and Eye test results)... and of course our phone numbers for 24hr support for the new puppy / owners. We daily heart worm our dogs with the heart worm found on the super market shelves, we start our babies with a 1/4 tablet ( usually after 1st Vacc) and in crease with age / body weight.
  5. We get all our puppies desexed at around 10wks old and have never had any complications with getting them done that early. I am not saying it can't happen but we feel better and find that the new puppy buyers are relived they don't need to worry about getting it done later...
  6. It's safe guards against any unwanted puppies and gives us peace of mind that our babies won't be used for breeding......... We also found alot of our puppy buyers are so happy to hear they have been done as it saves them the worry about getting it done at a later time.
  7. We find our puppies quiet easy to toilet train them, we put newspaper down in one corner of the room and when they wake up we put them on the paper and they soon get to know this is where they go..... out side we take them over to one patch of grass as soon as they wake up so they get to know where to toilet. We find it doesn't take them very long Everybody will have different ideas though. As for letting puppies go into new homes ours don't leave until around 11 wks as we desex all our pet puppies prior to leaving. As for food orientated, I have one that is not too fussed with food but the other 3 I have to watch there weight lol!!!
  8. My shelties at the show will jump up and say hello if people come over to them on the trolley or in the pen, they are not like that in the ring though and I do find them a little better to show when they are like that. At home different story, they will jump up and say hello when they first see you then off doing what they were doing prior to being disturbed lol!!! There has been shelties of late though that have been very timid and not stood there ground..... too me I would prefer to have an outgoing sheltie than one that is too scared and very timid....( Just my opinion )... My babies are out at the shows from 8wks to get used to other surroundings and interact with other people.
  9. Looks like my shelties have incorrect temps.... They don't hold back when meeting new people showering them in kisses and wanting pats etc
  10. I have one barker no matter what I done nothing would stop her..... It was mainly the neighbours stiring her up with the hose ( she loves water)... I tried the citonella collar - nothing, squirty bottle - thinks it's a game only other option was to send her to mums place as she is on land all barking has stopped. My other dogs I have at home don't hear a peep from them unless somebody is in the driveway or hanging around... Great little watch dogs.
  11. The average hip score is around 9. The current breed average is 8.36 There is alot of breeders who are getting some fantastic Hip Scores being well under the breed average ie: 0:0 or 1:1 which is great for the breed. I only wish there was alot more breeders who would Hip Score as it does limit the Stud Dog choices
  12. (b) gains a total of 100 points, of which twenty five (25) of these points are gained after the age of twelve (12) months; may apply for such dog to be known as a Champion. So does this mean if u have a dog with say 91 points prior to 12 months they only need 25 after 12 months?? or do u need to get 34 points? So if it's sounding confusing.
  13. I personally think ALL breeds should be tested prior to breeding from. As people have said before just because a dog has beautiful movement means nothing, we had a sheltie many years ago who had beautiful movement won a few RUBIS etc then bam failed hips with a score of 18 ( breed average 8.63).. You just can't tell unless you have them tested............. It needs to be bought in across the board NO testing NO register of litter ( JMO)....
  14. Colleen ur not having a good run are you.. I will be thinking of you, please keep us updated on Gracie's progress..
  15. Went to vet and she told me it was the tail end of a Hot Spot, gave me some Antibiotics and some Neo-topical cream to use twice a day. She said it should be healed up with in the week and with me bathing twice a day with salty warm water was a good thing. She want to shave my dogs coat off until I told her NO way she's a show dog.
  16. I have just had the past month off with mine, pisses me right off knowing that people are taking their dogs to shows and giving them cough syrup to help disguise the cough. Mum's dogs have just come down with it last week.. Can a dog catch it twice right after it just got over it ( hope it makes sense)
  17. I had a closer inpsection today and could not find a puncher wound / hole and now looks to be a Hot Spot??? I am taking her to vet tomorrow to get a proper diagnosis instead of guessing as to what it maybe. I will download photo's of the wound tomorrow and will let you know what the vet said..
  18. Thank you for that, is it best not to let it close over an scab up? I haven't had this happen to my dogs until now
  19. I have just noticed one of my fur kids had some matted coat on her rump which wasn' t there a few days ago when I brushed her, closer inspection after been blown back from the smell I cut her hair away from area and looks like a cat has clipped her. Not too sure apart from bathing in Salty water to keep the area clean and expressing the goop from it what else could I do?? Should I take her to the vet or would this be ok?? I have got some Antiseptic powder would I be able to put that on the help dry it out? Any suggestions would be great.
  20. Does anybody know who else reads the Hip Scores other than Dr Wyburn and Dr Lavelle?
  21. Hi, Sorry can't offer any advice but try posting this in the Sheltie & Collie thread under Breed Subforums as there is lots of sheltie people who may be able to offer some advice. I hope you get the problem sorted soon. Poor baby..
  22. Thank you everyone... I just wish you could name the people publicly so every body knows to stay away.. I guess you can't even report them to somebody can you??
  23. Well she has got KC and ALL my dogs are being treated... I have been told to keep away from shows until the 20th Sept..... So down the drain goes $200.00 in entries but my dogs health is far more important.. It's a horrible thing to listen to, I have never had KC and I hope after this my dogs never get it again.
