I would also be feeding this puppy a super premium kibble. There are many better quality dry foods than Supercoat, you can do a search and see what others are feeding. I feed BH and my dogs have never looked better! I hope everything is ok with your pup.... He is a cutie : )

Rottie Boy, What Is Best For Him?
Bedazzled replied to Bedazzled's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Anne, it's Joanne with Behla and Kane, we also went to Mike's training :D I am taking Kane back for some weekly accupuncture sessions, I will see how he goes with this, I am also interested in hearing about Sophies treatment. That is shocking what the poor girl had to go through thanks to that vet, not to mention the vet bill I am extremely lucky that my vet allows me to pay my account off, not many around here that will allow that ! Rottie Boy, What Is Best For Him?

Thank you for the replies, they are much appreciated The Chiro I took him to, was a dog Chiro, he was the one who told me to "give him the needle!" I have had this boy to numerous vets, they all confirm that he has HD, although not severe. This dog walks like he is that stiff in the back end, it almost looks mechanical cavNrott, where do you take your dog to? This wouldn't be Sophie you are talking about here would it? Forgive me if I am mistaken Pesh, he also doesn't like his back end being groomed/ touched, he moves away at every opportunity! I am going to book him in for weekly sessions of accupuncture to see how he goes, he did seem to do far better with this than any of the pain killers he has received at the vet. I will exhaust every possibility before I make that heart wrenching decision of sending him to the bridge, thank you all for sharing your experiences and kind words -
Hi all, I am at my wits end as to what to do with my wonderful Rottie Kane. 2 years ago, I took him to the chiro and he told me that the dogs back end is F***** ( how charming! ) and that the kindest thing for me to do would be give him THE NEEDLE! I dont know how I saw the road on the way home that day through my tears ;) I was devastated, I vowed that I was not going to do that without exhausting all other avenues first! First step was xrays, and although nothing drastic showed up, he certainly does not have perfect hips. He has been on Glucosamine and fish oil, and has had a few sessions of accupuncture also. Lately, he has been getting worse, he has had a series of Cartrophen (sp?) injections, with Rimadyl tablets to ease the pain. These things no longer seem to be working, I can see my boy getting worse by the day, and it is is breaking my heart to see him like this He never yelps or groans due to the pain, but I can see it in the way he moves, his back legs are very mechanical like these days, and he finds it very hard to get up when he is lying down. His tail ( what there is of it ;) ) seems to be down most of the time now, and he pants ALOT! This dog has been nothing short of wonderful while we have had him, his personality is extremely entertaining, and while he is still capable of making us laugh with his antics, I don't doubt that he is not in any pain. I feel so bad because he is only 4 years old, if he were a senior, I think the decision would be a little easier. I do not want to come across as selfish, this has been the hardest decision I have ever had to make regarding one of my dogs, I also do not want to see my boy in pain for the rest of his days either I know that I have given him the best life here that I possibly could Any advice/ help, I am just so upset here...

Haven, I don't doubt for a second that I went to the wrong place ;) I don't want to name clubs, but this certain club, really did put me right off!! I also agree that a dog so highly trained in all of these fields, makes them safer than your average pet, as a trainer once said to me, they are safer because they have an OFF switch! These days ,I can tell the difference between the trainer that is dazzling me with brilliance, as opposed to the one that is baffling me with bull$hit

I was interested, so I thought I would go to a club and see what it was all about. Not for me or my dog im afraid :p Might have been the certain club, who knows, just didn't like the way they were handling the dogs :D

So sorry for your loss :D RIP Hapi, bet those 4 months with you, were the BEST 4 months of his life :p Take Care

I totally agree! My 3 dogs also get terrible gas from chicken. Natural yoghurt works wonders

If my dogs get into something they shouldn't.....I punish MYSELF! If they are "caught in the act" of doing something they shouldn't be, a correction is issued, and this has to be instantly or not at all! My daughter bought a friend home after school one day, when we arrived, I thought we pulled up at the tip :p Garbage everywhere! The girl looked very worried and asked what I was going to do to the dogs? I replied, nothing, it's MY fault for leaving it out in the first place. She looked rather relived, then proceded to tell us, that her mother horse whipped her dog for getting into their garbage
