  1. You could try Baby shampoo, which won't sting his eyes, also use a flannel to do his head. Check if his ears don't smell inside, etc so it isn't something that warrants veterinary attention. Sometimes puppies smell, but excessive smell coming from the skin could be coming from the inside out so maybe its his food , I won't go into diet, that's better left to those with more diet knowledge. I have a dry shampoo at home which is for cats, but I use it on my pup from time to time, inbetween washes , it smells nice and does a good "cover up" till the next bath
  2. Aww chewy, it's heartbreaking, I dreamed of my Dachie last night, they stay with us don't they, just remember the good bits too. lots of hugs
  3. So sorry to hear this
  4. I agree about Rentals although small animals like birds/rats should be ok . we own our home and there's no way I will move unless our Dachie can come......have told hubbie he will be doing the digging up but I can't imaging leaving him (dachie lol) behind and what could happen should the new owner find him while making a new vegie plot..... I've noticed there are more Pet cemeteries now, has anyone used them ? That would be a lovely way to remember your pets .
  5. It's a sad topic , but an interesting one . When we had to have our 19 year old cat put to sleep , it cost $30 in 1979 on a Sunday (surgery was open ) even the vet cried.......and then they send me a lovely Sympathy card the next day, thumbs up for a caring vet Our Dachie was put to sleep in 2000 and $40 up front, our usual vet was away and I had no choice but to use the replacement vet who was nice and answered all my questions but I wish my own vet who knew my dog would have been there. No removal fees, as we took both home. Which actually raises a question.....I have been told it's illegal to bury animals on residential properties.....does anyone know the legalities this ?
  6. what a beautiful old dog
  7. Gone from my life, but not my thoughts. Your pictures have pride of place in our home, we proudly tell people about you when they see the photos arranged with candles and flowers: Grumpy, Oct 1979-Aug 1997 ginger mog strong, intelligent and a re-incarnation of an old soul, you knew our moods and comforted us when things were bad, you talked to us and winked when we looked you straight in the eyes to tell us you understood. Till I sit beside you on the green hill you showed me in my dreams, sleep in peace. Levis 1982-1993 grey persian sad and lonely you were until you came into our home, you needed gentle care and were sweet and undemanding, you didn't live long enough and daddy misses you still. Zack July 1995-2002 mini Dach you may have had a few problems and you never did like anyone but your family, but you were my baby and protector even though you were only small you were big in character. We were sorry to loose you but it was for the best, now you have no more pain and can run with all the other doggies till we meet again.
