  1. Dogsong, so sure how easy it is for you to get certain products imported to where you ive. There is a great insecticidal product here made by Deeway Labs (Cotex) in Brisbane. Have you thought of using citronella oil diluted and then sprayed on?. Have a talk to an equine supplier as horses have the same problems with biting insects.
  2. Its Dr Bruce's vetsallnatural. Yep why are you wanting to feed this as well as a premium dry kibble, quite honestly looking at their product on the website the look of minced kangaroo would make me want to . Sorry!!!
  3. Dogsong it may be different where you are. ;) In NZ we only had two vaccinations as puppies, 6 weeks and 8 weeks, but here it is three lots. Whichever way normally 10-14 days after last vaccinations and better to be safe than sorry.
  4. We too had the dri-az-a-bone variety when we lived in NZ, lined with sheepskin and they certainly kept them toasty, they are wonderful for also cutting the wind.
  5. Sorry to hear about his relapse, it would be a good idea for another check-up.
  6. Try sump oil and cement mixed to a paste and then dusted with talcum powder; lanolin anhydrous (wool fat) and then dusted with talculm powder; used to be able to get whiting (used on old wooden window frames)-a putty; failing these then www.petedge.com, search for Tear Mender Ear Cement
  7. Looks to me like an allergy to wandering jew. Sorry I havent worked out how to post a link but go into www.balgownievet.com.au, type in wandering jew into their search feature and it will give you the link, it shows some very nasty skin rashes similar to your dog's and some excellent photos of the various wandering jew species which will help you identify them. With regards to the ilicourt cream from the vets. I had a skin problem with one of my dogs and the vet suggested we use Aristocort, a human cortisone cream as it was way cheaper then the veterinary one.
  8. There was a recent discussion on this same topic and if I knew how to pin the thread I would , use the search feature to find the topic. I have a nearly 6 year old and he sometimes stands with his legs splayed out!! When I had my first dog some 18 years ago I was told that they will learn to cock their leg when the urine hits their front feet. Probably an old wives tale.
  9. Rappie, thanks for your detailed information. Benjay, please may we have an update on Bruce?.
  10. If you want to try a dry kibble for her then Nutro senior will have all that she needs in it, providing it is not an underlying liver/kidney problem.
  11. I'd say so Sheridan re Canberra, we are from NZ and didnt have these pblms there. Many moons ago we had a cocker in Sydney who picked up one in Newcastle. Squeak all you can do is what you are doing by running your hands all over you dog. Then also use the tick collars/and spot ons, some people also use proban which is a tablet given orally every second day.
  12. I Stood By Your Bed Last Night Author unknown I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep. I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here." I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me. I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more. I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there. I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me." You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there. It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away." You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ... in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you. The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning." And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.
  13. Hi Sheridan I havent seen a map as such, but Eastern Seaboard, this is for paralysis tick that we are talking about and I think you will find that they are not in Geelong check with your vet anyway.
  14. Geez jed what a horrible mixture to have in your freezer
  15. Hope you get the problem sorted and that puppy is OK tomorrow. It may be an idea not to feed for 12 hours, just give some water and some Nutrigel. Chances are is was the turkey, just remember that puppies tummies are very delicate and dont like anything new introduced too soon at their age.
  16. Found an article on Mycobacterial Infections in Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners ed. by Trevor Turner BVet Med, MRCVS. Please can you pm me for details
  17. I should imagine with the mild weather we've been having coupled with the rain yesterday that they are going to be a problem now, ours have collars on and we have just started with Advantix again.
  18. My dogs mean more to mean than cane toads NOOOOO way would I put them in my freezer, just the thought of it would make me :D
  19. So I need to practice my golf on cane toads rather than little white balls?. Coming from NZ we didnt have these heebeejeebies. When approaching a green at the golf club in the summer I could see black specks all over it and when we got to the green there were hundreds of baby cane toads. :D
  20. Good to hear he is home :D , his tummy will settle soon, hopefully you will have Kali back on the weekend.
  21. Lozzie as Nadia has said its can be like clipping sheep, and you have reminded me that I once did a Samoyed who was fly blown, and had HUGE chunks of dried poop through him.
  22. Hi there Its good to hear that King is on the road to recovery and eating now. It will be a long haul for you both. Dont know where you are but sounds to me like the deep South Is. of NZ A weatherbeeta would be a nice snug coat for him. Take care, hear from you soon, and when you have Kali back please can we have some family photos.
  23. Hi there Its good to hear that you have an excellent vet now and that they have made a more positive diagnosis. Thinking of you and your parents, and of course King. Hopefully after a day and night on i/v's there may be an improvement.
  24. Hi there How is King today?. Hope things are on the improve.
  25. Do you keep a water bowl outside or any plants in containers with water?. Restrict her outside access at night but take her out to the toilet on the lead just before you go to bed.
