shoemonster. just trying to get the head around and remember the music, think we have it. There are so many great pieces of music to suit all breeds, think we may need a D.J. :D If we can have breed conformation classes Aussie wide, why cant we have Dancing With Dogs as Well? -

MrsD, you wanna do it with the shelties?, LOL we may have a team. :D Magicalthing, there is a lot of choreography (cant spell for peanuts ), but www.dogpatch.org, links will help you. If in a team situation, then you need to think about not just the movements which you can teach the dogs, but also the music which will suit. e.g. bigger dogs such as a rotty, saint bernard etc will need music that is relatively slow like a waltz whereas a sheltie needs something faster. When training Panda we also used Herb Alpert (LOL your Mum would possibly know), Walk in the Black Forest etc. -
Nutro is available in both QLD and NSW and more recently one outlet in Victoria. You will find with Nurto that it is more expensive than supercoat or pal, but then it is a super premium food and you are not feeding nearly the quantity as it is quality no rubbish The Lamb and Rice is recommended for dogs with sensitive skins. It does NOT cause farting. :D

Panda has done this in NZ, he has been on 60 minutes :D His music was Hillbilly Rock Hillbilly Roll. It is also known as Canine Freestyle, and Heelwork to Music. Use the search field here and type in Dancing with Dogs. shoemonster, bloss344 and Tolietduck are all in Victoria and have some form of participation. The following is from Erny and was in a previous posting. "Try contacting Sue Cordwell. She organised a "Canine Freestyle Seminar with Caroline Scott last March, and if I recall correctly, she and some others might have started up a "Freestyle Dancing Club" - albeit in Victoria. However, she might have some knowledge of contacts/clubs in your area. Sorry - that's the best I can do. Hope it pays off. Email address: [email protected]" Also go into www.dogpatch.org and use the quickjump menu to find a list of links on Musical Freestyle. Good luck and let us know how you get on. -

Our instructors are s pretty confident however that they needed no more work this week. Hope they are right Keep an eye out for the sheltie mob on www.petographer.com.au next week -

Fleas, Please Help If You Can!
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Mum 2 Bailey n Chelsea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Treating the environment is such a problem. When you vacuum pop a small piece of flea collar into the vacuum cleaner bag ADVANTIX, on the dogs, we have four shelties (fleas love those long coats) and a Birman and haven't seen a flea in 15 months. I do sympathise though as fleas like me and am for ever being attacked when grooming/clipping other dogs. PS Australdi, the flea collar in the vacuum cleaner bag kills the eggs -
I have grooming aprons that work well but in the summer its a killer wearing them. LOL depends on your size as to whether or not one wears a bra.

Yep, will re-post next weekend. -
Sorry am fairly new to QLD and dont know of groomers your way, but per chance you want a day in the hills, come for lunch, bring the pooch and I will give him the works. Perhaps Kitkat and MrsD would like to bring their shepherds as well and we can make a day of it and MrsD's boys can go on hair patrol duty. My dryer was developed in the US for drying show cattle so pretty powerful :D

ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Nevafollo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
jess95-06, use a gripsoft undercoat rake and then how about a treat from a groomer who has a high velocity dryer, you'd be amazed at the hair which comes out. -

Groomers Fave Breeds 2 Wash
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Nevafollo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Favourite washes are the long coated as they come up so well after being blow dried. ;) Least favourite wash is a chinese crested or mexican hairless as the water spurts back at you because their is no coat. :p Favourite clips any of the spaniels. Least favourite clips swf's which are badly matted -
Simple Way To Cut The Drying Time By Half
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Ah Ngau's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Ben I use them in my business when a client just wants a "towel" dry rather than a blow dry. -
Hi there I see that your daughter may also be interested in a sheltie puppy. There is a litter available ready to go this week in the breeders section of DOL, and they live in South Gippsland if you would like contact them.
-
Hi there This sounds like a BYB, a puppy should not go to its first home before it has been vaccinated, the first of which is at 6 weeks. Breeders normally start the weaning process at 3 weeks and at 5 weeks they are only just feeding themselves. The Mum is usually taken away from them at night for the first time at 5 weeks. 5-8 weeks is the crucial time for them to learn social skills through their litter mates and Mum. We dont let any of our puppies go before thay are 8 weeks old. It will be disappointing for your daughter BUT PLEASE dont get a puppy of this age, or from a BYB.
