  1. As you can imagine when they are so badly matted it takes ages as you are being so careful not to cause any nicks, clipper burn etc. It took the better part of three hours. A cocker clip if done on a regular basis is $35.00, clip, bath, dry etc.
  2. MM at a guess looking at the photos I too would hazard that your parents dog is border collie x, with little or no maltese The spots on the legs is called ticking and yes shelties can have this, here is Panda my black and white sheltie. The b/c has a coat very similar to a sheltie, and am sure once your parents have the correct combs that they can keep on top of the grooming. Suggest that your parents take the dog twice a year to a groomer for a "blow out" of the coat.
  3. Sorry have been asleep and not following the thread I didnt get after shots as some silly fool fogot to recharge the camera battery and this dog was done at the end of the day. I charged them $80.
  4. javajava the OP said that the dog wasn't matted a.t.m and that her parents didnt want it clipped. It would depend on what type of coat the dog has thrown. I think perhaps that they have been using the wrong type of combs. I too am a groomer and a breeder of shelties, hence my recommendation that they have the dog thoroughly brushed out, bathed and then dried with a high velocity dryer which will help with the undercoat.
  5. We have been feeding Nutro for over 6 years now so am a little biased However we did try both Eukanuba and Science Diet on them and they simply wouldnt touch it. Its good to hear that Nutro is becoming more popular and more widely available. It is a super premium product for which you do pay top $, but then you actually are feeding less and a far better diet. Please feel free to pm me if I can be of any help with availability.
  6. tollersowned's dog, perhaps another Nutro convert?.
  7. I dont think that the Mars Coat King with razor like teeth is the comb to use on this dog.
  8. Dan, The closest supplier to you for Nutro will be 4 Paws and More in Keilor Park, Vic. Suggest you pm sagitarrian and have a chat.
  9. What a coat combination By your description she has thrown the sheltie coat which has an undercoat which you need to get out. One of the most important things with grooming is having the correct tools, no amount of brushing by your parents will get the coat out unless you have those. I think the one you are describing is possibly a de-matting rake which has razor-like teeth?. Would suggest that you look at getting an undercoat rake, pinbrush and a fine comb for behind the ears, all of which you can see pictures of on www.vetproductsdirect.com.au, under pet grooming products. GRRR hate people who clip shelties If you do find another groomer you must insist that you do not want the dog clipped. They should be able to give her a good grooming, bath and then a dry with a high velocity dryer which wil help biff the coat out. It would be ok to clip her belly and her petticoats :D Ours came from NZ last year and have survived their first QLD summer. We groom regularly, use the above procedure, and keep them inside during the heat of the day.
  10. Petdeli dont have Nutro only Eaglepack. There will be another distributor of Nutro advertising on DOL shortly
  11. Tollersowned, the only place in Victoria is at 4 Paws, Keilor Park, I understand they have very good freight rates. Adult performance has a much higher protein and fat ratio.
  12. Hi there This is a cocker which I clipped on Wed, he also had a bath. blow dry and re-clip. As you can see by his ears and feet he had a huge coat and was badly matted. Where I could I used a #7F and to get the matts out a #10. There has been some "backlash" at what I charged, please may I have some ideas from other groomers as to what you/your salon would charge for a badly matted cocker.?
  13. LOL then as Shekhina has said he is having you on,
  14. Have you tried any of the other super premium foods?. Two of mine as puppies wouldn't touch either Eukanuba or Science Diet, the are now all on Nutro.
  15. Sounds as though you may have a problem with the environment and that is by far the hardest to treat, by that we mean in the garden etc. Its all very well treating the house, dog bedding, and what ever in the way of sentinel spectrum, advantix etc etc but the buggers in the garden are hard to control. Have you had an insecticidal treatment done e.g. Amalgamated Pest Control?.
  16. Do you have wandering jew in your garden?, many dogs are allergic to it.
  17. Ground Rice, Rice Flour and Rice Bran are listed as 2.3.4. ingredients whilst Rice Gluten is No.9 :D I would be a lot more concerned if a product was using Corn Meal, Corn Gluten, Maize and Wheat as their ingredients. The initial outlay is expensive as it is a super premium food, howver you are feeding less as you are feeding quality. Out of interest a 23kg dog takes about 4 months to go through a 15kg bag. We have been feeding Nutro for 6 years now and have also weaned our litters on to it. Sorry Thunder, it does have Rice Gluten. If you want an analysis of how much Rice is in the product I can try and get it for you. LOL am not a Sales Rep but have direct contact with the General Manager in NZ from when I used to live there
  18. Go Bailey see Nutro is for fussy eaters, its ok to drop the lunchtime.
  19. If you need help with Nutro I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Keith is the sales rep for Nutro here. I have been feeding mine Nutro for over 6 years, 5 prior to leaving NZ, and have direct contact with the general manager in NZ as I still get mine via NZ and the Brisbane warehouse.
  20. Too much champagne and chocolate to celebrate a recent birthday OOOOHHHH so youv'e watched Panda in the early stages of Dancing? Liver has been done and will be delivered 05 Oct
  21. Larry It would appear that you are talking about one product and the other is Natural Balance, Dick Van Patten's, where the ingredients list contains Chicken Fat
