Sick Of Unprofessional Groomers
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to border14's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Nadia, I am only repeating what I have been told from dis-satisfied people in the area in which I live, perhaps it is indicative of this area only One of the advantages of the mobile service if they do do grooming and clipping is that the owner can remain whilst their dog is being attended to, and say exactly what it is they want. Case in point recently when I did a pomeranian, not only did the grooming salon not do what the owner wanted but charged her $50.00 for just a clip, whereas I did what she wanted, clipped and bathed the dog and charged her $35. border14 have a look in the classifieds section of this site there may be something. -
Sick Of Unprofessional Groomers
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to border14's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Its a shame that grooming salons dont listen to the requests of the owners. Most mobile franchises only wash and do no grooming or clipping. -
Samoyedman, the rake with the sharp edges on it is a de-matting rake and can be very harsh on a coat. The Evolution is similar to the undercoat rake, and the rotating teeth stop the pulling. When you do comb mist the coat with water from a spray bottle as this will help. We also use Lustreaid which is a coat conditioner mixed in the spray bottle and it has a pleasant cologne The shedding loop is better on the short coated dogs. If you can afford to then suggest you send your boy in to a grooming salon on a regular basis as the high velocity dryers really do get a lot of coat out.

This is an undercoat rake which I would use on a Samoyed: http://www.vetproductsdirect.com.au/vetpro...amp;eq=&Tp= For the feathers on a Springer, and behind the ears. Also behind the ears, when combed out, pop a little baby powder to keep the area dry. http://www.vetproductsdirect.com.au/vetpro...amp;eq=&Tp=

We have a twin tank Conmurra designed bath, which allows us to put the shampoo in one tank and fresh water in the other for rinsing. Our dryer was made in the US dont know if avail here but understand the Double K Air max avail from clipperworld who advertise on here are quite popular. Here is a previous thread on hydrobaths http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...st&p=974187 And on dryers http://forums.dogzonline.com.au/index.php?...t&p=1443309

Learning To Herd

CTD, the initial question will be do they have the instinct?. Given that they are not working dogs they may not, good luck though and hope you find somewhere. -

Oh God.. Sick Puppy.. Not Mine..
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to EISHUND's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
If they cant afford to take a puppy to a vet then they shouldn't have taken one on in the first instance. How old is the puppy concerned, what are the symptoms?, have they been exposed to other dogs?. More details would be appreciated. -

Best Dry Food Available
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Zorro_007's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Zorro_007, with Nutro, it has been available in Australia, but only in QLD and NSW for some time, and now in Vic. As mentioned previously we have been feeding for over six years, prior to coming to QLD last year. We have tried both Science Diet and Eukanuba previously but our dogs (2 at the time) and puppies (2 also) would not touch either. We are happy with the overall results of having our dogs on Nutro, coat and skin condition, smaller stool volume, no smells. We have four adults here, and in the last two weeks 5 puppies on Nutro and given that they are all house dogs volume and smell counts for a lot. -

ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Zorro_007's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Musik, it started out when we fed out cat sardines and the dogs would go silly, so we buy el. cheap, e.g. homebrand, in oil and they all get a sardine on top of their food, once a week, that extra fish oil doesnt hurt. When we feed the chicken wings we cut out the Nutro for that meal, we feed x twice daily. -

Goldielover, as Norskgra has already given you the protien levels and three types of puppy food available from Nutro, will just add that they also make a mini kibble but that wouldnt be for yours We have been feeding Nutro for over six years and it was a product that we were first introduced to when we lived in NZ. We have weaned four litters onto Nutro. We start out with a little mince at 3 weeks, introduce puppy food with a little warm water to soften at 4 weeks, and by the time they are 7 weeks they are just on Nutro, and we no longer soften at this age. We keep our litters on puppy food until 12 months. As adults Nutro is the basis of their diets and we also give sardines and chicken wings. The ingredients list for Nutro and the guaranteed analysis are both available on the website www.nutro.co.nz PLEASE be aware though that NOT all products on this website are available in Aus. e.g. the canned puppy food. 4 Paws and More, Keilor Park, Melbourne should be able to help with any enquiries you may have. Bub, would suggest you do a comparison of the ingredients in Eukanuba and Nutro, and look in particular for added colourants, chemical preservatives and what cereals are used. Skyesmum, suggest you look at Lamb and Rice, which is also avail in Large Breed Lamb and Rice -

Any news, Varicool -
Good to hear your puppy is OK. Kayden, an ETHICAL registered breeder would in NO WAY make an honest mistake and let puppies of that age go for the holidays, and would doubt that many vets would give her the OK at age 6 weeks. I have a litter here who turned 8 weeks old yesterday and I made the decision that they would not go as Christmas puppies. Good luck with your puppy and please stay with the forums, you will learn a lot.
