Groomers...................
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to pesh's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
For our own dogs we use either Aloveen or Champion Tails. When we had the mobile dog grooming business we used Groomer's Edge Dynamic Duo. If you have particularly smelly, dirty dogs then Groomer's Edge Grimentor, its awesome. -

ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to fiona mills's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
FM if you comapre the piccies of Panda's nose and that of your dog it sure looks similar, but being no expert, please take your dog into the vet and ask for a biopsy. BTW sine I first posted re reply from the vet at Texas A&M, she may have moved on. Print off the details which are in the link and take them to your vet. Good luck and please PM with the results -

Dianne, we never met, however you were the one of the first to welcome me to both the MDBA and DOL. May you RIP, kind lady, sincere condolences to Tony and your family. NOTE FROM THE BRIDGE (author unknown) To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from the Bridge. Here I dwell with God above. Here there's no more tears of sadness. Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on." God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do. And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you...in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years, because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before. There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to God at night... "My day was not in vain." And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile. So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street with me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go, from that body to be free. Remember you're not going... you're coming here to me.

We've not had a problem with Nutro causing itching and whilst we are vigilant with wandering jew didnt realise until I brought this site back up that Moses in a Boat or Moses in a Basket also caused problems, we have a ton of it the dogs are forever playing in it, so in the next day or so OUT IT GOES. http://www.balgownievet.com.au/1_gen_derm_...ndering_jew.htm

Camera Buffs I Need Advice Hellllllp!
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I have the Canon 400 Rebel XTI, I had the lenses which you have posted and have recently up graded to a 100-400mm. If you scroll thought here all of the outdoor shots were taken with the 75-300mm lenses http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=79422 as were the shots on http://www.sheepherdingqueensland.com/participation.html We also used to go Lure Coursing and have some great shots from that as well. You can set the camera to sports action to freeze the action until you get used to the manual settings. Its a great camera and worth the $$$ if you can afford it. -
Insofar as the diet is concerned, have a really good look at the ingredients and guaranteed analysis on the packet (its NOT on the website as far as can see) and then compare to the likes of Nutro Natural Choice and Royal Canin which are both super premium foods. Sure Nutro and Royal Canin are expensive but you feed a lot less and they have quality ingredients.

Nutro forms the basis of their diets but we also feed Ziwipeak

Feeding Giant/large Breeds
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to Legacee's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We dont actually have large/giant breeds but we do feed Nutro Natural Choice to ours. Unlike Tilly we have never had a problem with either smelly pees or poohs, and have been feeding it for nearly eight years. It is a super premium food and is expensive compared to some brands, but then as with many things you pay for what you get and we were after quality. You actually feed less than say supercoat. We have 7 dogs here so guess that would more than equal what you would feed in quantity to a giant breed. -
Recommend you look at a Zoom Groom, they get a lot of hair out and you can brush in a circular motion.

ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to jaegertheweim's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
JTW, we moved here from NZ in 2005, that first summer we used both Advantix and Preventic collars as Paralysis ticks were alien to us as are cane toads, big bugs, snakes etc etc For the last two years we have used just Advantix, in the summer every two weeks and in the winter monthly Touch wood, none on the dogs YET -

Aussie Shepherd, its under the OP's avatar. A number of showies use these products http://www.plushpuppy.com.au/ We use sit stay and chalk to help give the legs more body. We use horse shampoos to highlight the colours. You might try oil in the diet for any dryness. -

Whole Dog Journal..best And Worst Dog Food
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to panda's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Panda, no I am not upset, it take quite a bit to ruffle my feathers. All I am asking is what are the criteria used in making these decisions. I cant see any reason why I should have to PAY in order to obatin this information. -
Whole Dog Journal..best And Worst Dog Food
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to panda's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No, not really Panda. Yes its easy to cut and paste, any one can do that. My point is why post information that is not applicable here in Australia, there are many more forum members who are resident here than in the US. The question still arises, what are the criteria used to make any one particular dog food WORST DOG FOOD/ BEST DOG FOOD?
