  1. peaceful, I started taking my maiden bitch's temp on 09 June, there was a marked difference on 11 June, being 37.5, 36.8 and 37.3, she whelped on 12 June.
  2. rajacadoo, patience is a virtue when you have a bitch in whelp Temps do fluctuate a littlle, but going as low as 36.2 is a good sign, you will NOT be joining the July thread.l ;)
  3. Bonduca, am convinced Tyson is responsible. Thor (ffs his Uncle is Odin) will hopefully be (if regos come through) Busi Bodi Bi Bear :D :D ROFLMAO
  4. rajacadoo, she is going to have her litter very very soon have no doubt you will be a Grandma by the morning Try not to panic, have a feeling you know ellz, so don't hesitate to contact in case you need some advice. Hope you have put your vet on notice in case you need their services in the wee small hours?. Here is another excellent site re whelping http://www.debbiejensen.com/ Will look forward to your news in the morning.
  5. rajacadoo, you will be busy in the next 18 hours
  6. I gave a ml of calcium sandoz twice to Bree and she had the awful squits, spoke to both my vet and the owner of the stud dog and both agreed it could have been that which upset her. We are feeding Nutro puppy food to her, together with her regular home-made diet, and she has heaps of milk, the pups are porkers. Bree had to have oxytocin, under vet supervision, as she was unable to push the pups out of her own.
  7. Baking in the sun is sure better than baking in the oven ;)
  8. Jed, your tribute to Magnus made me both laugh and cry at the same time, he was certainly the TBCSITW, it must have been very heartbreaking for you to write such a lovely piece and thank you for sharing it with us. Hope the pain from the burns eases soon, ;) and that the insurance claim is sorted out sooner rather than later.
  9. We still have fluff, let alone dog hair, after four years ;)
  10. Wash separately because shelties drop a lot of coat Besides which have enough hair on my bed as the rest sleep there.
  11. A friend who used to show Lowchens used Potato flour
  12. I wouldnt be worrying about doors just yet, no roll bars here, Bree is very careful where she lies in the box. Wait wait wait, LOL Hope she whelps during the day for you. Waiting here for eyes to open
  13. Thanks for clarifying TS, didn't think I had seen anything was about to scroll back through the thread.
  14. rajacaoo, as Mercedes has said get a cardboard box, (we have a Kenol but it's too heavy for me to move with my back problems), a Masport Mower one from your lawnmowing shop should be the right size for a Basenji :D Generally speaking: If the temp drops to 37 & 37.5 due in the next 24 hours, if the temperature drops by .7 due in next 12 to 18 hours. Me-thinks it won't be long. Apologies Cass06 must have missed your post re your puppy. PS Newfiesrus, at day 35 with a big dog the pups were possibly tucked up under her ribcage.
  15. Rajacadoo, it may fluctuate a little, hope you have the whelping box and all necessities ready, including heaps of "things" to keep you awake be it coffee, tea, etc and of course a computer nearby to keep us posted. Has anyone heard from Cass06, there was to have been a litter of Chinese cresteds.
  16. Jed, although you feel it's a bit soon to be out of hospital as others have said at least there is less risk of infection from other sources. Each day will be an improvement, both physically and mentally
  17. OOPS, bi boy has been out, puppy pen now around the whelping box, Bree not impressed but she will have to learn to live with it. :D
  18. NOW, rajacadoo, :D as mentioned earlier Bree, maiden, whelped day 60 from slip tie, owner of stud dog said go from first full tie, glad we didn't Bree's temp on day 59 was 37.5 in the morning, 36.8 midday and 37.3 evening. Didn't have too bad a night, she got me up twice for a piddle, by 5.00am on day 60 she was panting heavily and starting to shake. Better safe than sorry.
  19. buggerme, we feed 2/3rds homemade diet and 1/3rd Nutro. Our homemade consists of minced chicken frames which we get from Lenards, pasta, Natural yoghurt, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar and V8 vegetable juice which is easier than blending up the veges.
  20. MM they are a worry, such fat beasties, they will be out of the whelping box soon, looking at popping the puppy pen around them mid week as have a feeling they will be out and about in no time. :D
  21. Sometimes gut instinct is best, great news, Newfiesrus, hope all goes well. PS Newfiesrus, if your girl is on day 56, perhaps start taking her temperature?. Bree whelped on day 60 from the slip tie.
  22. BB, have added you to the front page of litters expected, hope all goes well
