  1. Thanks, lappiemum. Our vet and I have a feeling it may have been an ant bite from a show we were at on 24 Sep and it has become infected. Hopefully we can get to see a dermatologist/opthalmologist without too much of a wait.
  2. We have been away since 27 Sep and arrived home today to this on my boy, Odin. His first symptoms were on 25 Sep and looked like conjunctivitis, (he had been at a show on 25 Sep). On 26 Sep his eye was red and on 27 Sep swollen. I dropped him into to the vet clinic on our way "out" and he was there again yesterday. My vet has had him on antibiotics and he has a topical eye ointment being applied twice daily. She has not seen anything like it before. We have him booked in again on Monday for a 2nd opinion and chances are we will have to see a specialist. Has anyone seen anything similar to this? Any help would be appreciated.

  4. We have our permit approved for 8 dogs, and the inidcation from the inspector was that if we wished to apply for more in the future that the chances are approval would be given without any 'problems". There was NO mention made of having to have kennels with concrete runs etc. Ours are all house dogs and have the run of a house yard. Although we have 40 acres we choose to keep them in the house yard. We are members of both DOGSQLD and the MDBA. It would seem that perhaps the Council are stricter on those in suburbia as opposed to those on acerage?.
  5. I think by your post you are talking about dried? in which case Nutro or Ziwipeak. We feed a 2/3rds home made to 1/3rd dried, except when we are away in which case it's all dried.
  6. Nikki and Thor did well at their first shows with Nikki taking out Baby Puppy of Breed both days.
  7. Forgot I gave the keys to KR, did a mad dash first thing this morning to Maleny to pick up spares and have more cut, now have six keys Hurricane will meet Thor (the Norweigan God of Thunder and Lightening) Safaree Busi Bodi Bi Bear :D and Pebbles will meet Nikki, Safaree Bear Bi Mi Side. Hopefully we have have one each in GS, Hogz ;)
  8. kepiesrule and I will be going out both days but not staying, provided I can find the keys for the trailer  Thor and Nikki's first shows
  9. One thing I absolutely HATE about the twin tank Barf designed hydrobath is that it's very hard to get all the rinse water drained from the tank and it PUKES, especially in summer
  10. Cazwah, can't think why your Nutro smells We have never had a problem with it, be it the US import or the Australian made. ;)
  11. Odin and Bree will be two on Friday. Bree is going through the uglies following her litter in June so no photos. ;)
  12. We use the recommended quantities as a guide only. Was in Petbarn this morning and the assistant manager mentioned that Nutro is their biggest seller in the super premium range. ;)
  13. Shelby, seems that Ella had a great w/e of socialising. Nikki was taken out yesterday to a show (not entered) and was very well behaved with plenty of attention. Thor and Nikki have their first shows this Fri/Sat Hoping that this horrid weather clears :D
  14. If anyone is having problems with supply, why don't you contact Nutro?. Oh, and we also feed Nutro to our Birman cat. http://www.nutro.com.au/
  15. Thanks, Loraine, am sure all will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the book. I would like to be able to give you a preview, but that may spoil some fun when it is received by those who have ordered a copy.
  16. We are hoping that the cookbook will be available for distribution mid October. Our sincere apologies for the delays and thanks for your patience Have a copy of the book in the format in which it will be printed and it's looking AWESOME Will post again as soon as it is ready to be sent out.
  17. We have been feeding Nutro since 2000, initially the US product and now the Australian made and have never had any issues. We have weaned seven litters onto Nutro puppy food. We currently have x6 adults and x2 3.5 month old puppies. During the transition period of the US product being no longer available and it being made here we tried various other dried foods such as Artemis, Orijen, Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance all of which disagreed with our dogs in some way. We continue to feed Nutro on a 1/3rd-2/3rds ratio with a home-made diet, but when needs be they will be on Nutro only e.g. if we are away it's easier for our house-sitter to just feed dry.
  18. BB, thanks for the photos and sharing their names rajacadoo, we feel for you, it's so hard, and sorry to hear about your pup going to Adelaide I haven't taken photos in a month, must rectify that soon
  19. You will find that a number of people who show dogs use horse shampoos, whiteners, conditioners etc such as Champion Tails Click on the list of advertisers (under the banners) on the front page of DOL for some online stockists of various dog products. For worming etc we use www.pricelesspets.com.au, they are in QLD and by far are the cheapest, but not sure re postage to WA.
  20. Shelby, great to hear that Ella enjoyed her first outing. TS, never losers, ;) Participation is what counts and a place is a bonus. Well done Laynee Nikki is off on her first venture next Sunday. She needs to get away from Thor, me, and the family. She is off with a friend to a show for some more socialising. Their first shows are 25/26 Sept.
  21. Dogs should be registered within 12 months of being whelped, however you will find that most breeders register between 6-12 weeks.
  22. Ours are great on the lead, except Nikki comes a little too close to me. They are easy to stack and bait as well. How did your show go TS?. PS Nikki was not too impressed with the dryer.
  23. It's quite clear from Dogs Victoria website that it is illegal to sell puppies without first having them microchipped. When the breeder goes to register the litter with DOGS QLD, there is a section on the registration form which asks for the microchip number. Main registration papers are red and limited are green. Limited means you can't breed from or show the puppy.
  24. It is not clear whether or not the puppy was purchased at 6 weeks, or that the breeder felt that microchipping at 6 weeks was too early due to the size of the puppy.
