  1. Now that Steve has almost finished listing the nominees for each category, who will be attending?. Having been nominated by an unknown person (THANKS A MILLION :D ) am planning on being there. Apart from the excitement of the awards night, looking forward to visiting Melbourne after an absence of many many years Am treating my Mum to a trip as well, she is now 86 and a Victorian.
  2. Link NOT working and can't get into MDBA website either
  3. When we were feeding a home-made diet we used V8 vegetable juice, (Woollies own is cheaper), no mess, no pulping
  4. DLB, you have me by the short and curlies as I have NO idea who you are. I was totally dumbfounded to receive a phone call from Julie on Tuesday evening. My initial reaction was that it was something to do with the DOL cookbooks. To the person who submitted the nomination, I have NO idea who you are either but THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Look forward to meeting Julie, Troy and others at the awards ceremony.
  5. We have just finished our first 20kg bag and have bought another two. We have no concerns.
  6. LOL, stonebridge you have misread part of my post. I am happy to come out 1/2 way to meet you. Can you either list here what you are in need of, or PM? re dog/cat/bird supplies. I will call Prestige on Monday and try to get an appointment with the Manager ASAP. We have a produce store here who have a lot of horse products and a Petstock in Caboolture and am happy to approach them as well if you think it will help. Again please advise what you are most in need of.
  7. We feed either Nutro or Black Hawk, both super premium dry. Although we did feed a home-made diet for approx 15 months for some reason they started getting the runs, so we went back to dry. All ours are house dogs We give Royal Jelly and Salmon oil capsules daily. Although we are on acerage we have a fairly large house-yard in which they get sufficient excercise, and we play ball with them when it's not too hot. We use both Plush Puppy and Isle of Dogs shampoos
  8. Yes, my OH's standard poodle. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get to like her.
  9. Miss Monaro breeds quality Choccies, and also health tests.
  10. Not sure if these are of any use? http://www.petway.com.au/
  11. Try: http://www.prestigepetproducts.com.au/ They are on Cessna Drive, Caboolture. If they are willing I can pick goods up and perhaps meet you 1/2 way
  12. Miss Monaro breeds Choccies and is doing very well with them in the ring. Know her personally. Kennel name Copperkee
  13. Sorry you had to go through this, however the dogs should not have been on your property, and you had every right to shoot given that your stock (no matter what they were) were being killed. We lost 20 sheep to wild dogs last year. Unfortunately we are not allowed to shoot on land 40 acres or under, we have 40.
  14. Have replied to another thread. We are wet, but OK. We have x3 single beds in a granny flat, separate (mostly) to our house. Basic TV, DVD, oven, hot plates, microwave (think working), frig, shower, toilet & a/c. If needed then a double bed in our house as well. Have a Trek 4 berth dog trailer in our stable which is totally under cover so up to 8 medium size dogs, possibly more in crates, pens etc. NO aggresive dogs!! Can take horses as well. Contact: [email protected]
  15. We are safe, a.t.m. Our home is set above our land and the water is flowing away- never mind the paddocks, :D our stock are safe. If needed, and people can get here, as by all accounts the weather/conditions may not ease, we have a fully self contained granny flat with 3 single beds- basic TV, frig, microwave, oven, hot plates, shower, toilet, fan and a/c, and a double bed in the main part of our house if desperate. Am sure we can try and accommodate your dogs in our dog trailer/crates/pens etc in our stable which is high and dry. PM if you need some help
  16. We are not entered, but can confirm that the roads west from Woodford i..e. The Daguilar Hwy is cut in places. I would hope that wilth all the devastation in SEQ that the Show Secretary would see fit to cancel.
  17. I have kept two puppies from three litters, now aged 10, 2 and 7 months, and have not had any issues. They have the run of the house and garden when we are at home and the youngest two are crated at night in the living room.
  18. Awesome photos, thanks for sharing
  19. This is a hard question to answer, MRB. Our "American Barn" is all tiled, so we should not have too many problems re mites, dander etc. from dogs, or humans. Scenario here: Our very first guests were a couple with two teenage daughters. Mum and Dad slept in our "Barn" whilst the "girls" were in the Granny Flat. (Fully S/C). When they left I had to contend with red wine stains on the duvet/duvet cover, (from Mum and Dad) NOT a good start. :D We have had a couple of other families stay (with children under 10) and their behaviour has been exemplary. Then one other "family" where it was a divorced Mum with her two girls 12 and 14, and Mum's parents and they were totally FERAL :D The accommodation was an absolute pigsty when they left, as was our self-contained Granny Flat where her parents were accommodated. (supposedly "professional couples") We are in Woodford QLD and have rented out our accommodation to a couple who stayed during the Woodford Folk Festival Dec-Jan 2009/2010. By all accounts WFF goers have a bad name for being feral, but we could NOT have had better guests. During the first "Splendours In the Grass" held here in July 2010, we had x2 couples in the "Barn" and one couple in the Granny Flat and they were all awesome in respect of tidiness. NO problems re being drunk and irresponsible. Where do we draw the line?.
  20. We offer accommodation in our "American Barn", and whilst we welcome dogs they are NOT allowed inside. Whilst we don't quote for "heatlh reasons" as we have NOT found the applicable regulations, some issues we have include: Dog dander- some people are allergic to dog hair. Doggy smell- certain breeds of dogs have a particular doggy smell. Can one draw the line between puppies, entire dogs who may lift their legs inside, dogs on the beds with their owners?, all of which leads to considerable additional expense in having all bedding etc cleaned before the next guests are expected. Sometimes the turn around between guests can be less than 24 hours. We don't use a laundry facility but do all our own washing/cleaning etc, to help defray costs. Our dogs (8) are all house dogs, but if we are away showing and stay at a motel that states "NO DOGS INSIDE" then we abide by their rules. http://www.woodfordfarmstay.com/
  21. dianed, I believe it is the individual Councils in QLD who decide on what size acerage one can use a firearm. Although we are not permitted to use a firearm to shoot dogs who may be attacking stock we are permitted to use one to PTS an animal that has been savaged.
