Recommendations For Ladies Show Shoes?
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to japtzu's topic in General Dog Discussion
Fifi, I couldn't use the first link to Ecco either. You have "beaten" me to posting another link. If anyone is interested in golf shoes I would recommend you go to either a golf course, all of whom have a pro shop, (am a golfer) or the likes of Golf World, try on various brands, get the model details and then try and source online. ;) Regular shoe shops such as Footlocker would NOT normally stock golf shoes -
What Did You Feed Your Dogs
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to ShesaLikeableBiBear's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks all, the thread is for 15 PLUS years ago. ;) My first dog I remember came into our family when I was 2 weeks old, . We were in East Africa at the time (derr 'mid 50's ). Would have to ask my Mum what she was fed-she was a Cocker Spaniel. -

OOPS, forgot about leftovers from casseroles and roasts, thanks for the reminder. I don't recall with leftovers that we fed peas or pumpkin, probably just carrots and spuds. -
Recommendations For Ladies Show Shoes?

I wear golf shoes, mostly Footjoys, as are very comfortable and with the rubber spikes I don't slip. Only bug bear is that the spikes will collect newly mown grass. Golf shoes come in a range of colours -I have black and white, white and black, navy and white, pale blue and white, buff and white and pink and white. You can buy either leather or synthetic. http://www.footjoy.com.au/catalog/womens.asp?c=20 PS Some other manufacturers are Nike, Adidas, Callaway and Ecco -
Following on from shepherdowner's thread re feeding canned food, I thought it would be interesting to know what we/our families fed our dogs in the days before the advent of BARF, dried. etc. I recall in the early '70's my Mum buying meat from the butcher which was Mt Bundy (N.T.) Buffalo and have no recollection of whether our family dog was fed anything else. Goodness knows what my first dog was fed, as we lived in Uganda (East Africa) at the time (ahem mid 50's ;) ) In the late '80's and the '90's I fed dog roll. I first switched to dried food in 1998 and there have been huge advances in quality since. I recall my family in the country used to just feed "offcuts" from a beast which they had slaughtered, be it lamb or beef. Please NO flaming, NO getting into what is or isn't best for your dog now, just interested in days gone by.

Who Feeds Canned Dog Food?
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to shepherdpower's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I have previously fed both Nutro and Ziwipeak canned foods with no issues -
Ishy, Miss Monaro should be able to give you the total number of entries for the show, and may be able to give you numbers for your group.

Ours are continuing to do well on Black Hawk. Having had them on BH for nearly 2 months I didn't want to switch them back and finish off the x2 15kg bags of Nutro we had here, so gave the Nutro away to a very good friend :D

As wtih Miranda's reply, we have fed Nutro (both the US and Australian made) to our adults and have weaned our litters on to it. We changed to Black Hawk as it is cheaper than Nutro. We have been feeding Black Hawk for three months are are pleased with the results. -

Brisbane Vet Recommendation
ShesaLikeableBiBear replied to RL1's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The offer stands until Monday, see how she copes in the next three days. Unfortunately QVS and BVSC require referrals, unless you were to take her in in an "emergency" i.e. out of hours. -

If your girl is particularly bad between now and Mon, and you are stressed out, please PM as I have an appointment with Rowan on Tuesday at 10.30am (it is NOT vital) and am happy to switch appointments if the practice will allow us to do that. :D -
A very sad situation. Surely if the vet was her regular vet, who she had been seeing for years, and never had any issues with, as Bartok has mentioned on p2 then he could have considered part payment?, given it was a Sunday.

Brisbane Vet Recommendation

It's been hard for us as well to find out which joint supplement works the best for Skye. Pentosan injections are initially given x weekly for a month, x monthly for 3 months and then every 3 months. Sophie has not at any stage said that's life, we have discussed what is best for Skye, and am happy with Skye's treatment, knowing full well that she is in the best of hands. We have tramal here should Skye need it. We had a rotten day with Skye on Tuesday, she displayed signs of not wanting to get up and the other vet in the practice mentioned Clinical depression, which basically meant she was tired of being in pain. Has your vet discussed this with you?. Unfortunately, Skye's FL is cancerous, have had a good chat to Sophie about it and at this stage we are not going to operate as there is no guarantee it won't grow back and op a bit of a major. Given that she is 13 not sure that it is the right path to follow. She is happy enough at the moment which is what counts. -

RL1, Skye has been on pentosan injections for some time now for joint problems. Since mid Dec she has been on metacam for pain relief and as an anti-inflammatory. She has sasha's blend added to her food daily, together with salmon oil capusles. 10 days ago she had an xray which showed severe arthritis to her left hip. She was not coping well on Tuesday and her xrays have been sent through, by Sophie, to a specialist to confirm "nothing else is going on". Skye also has another issue with a "fatty lipoma" which we are working through. I can't stress enough how brilliant Sophie at our local clinic has been with Skye.
