Very interesting article and one I will chat to my vet about. I opted for non-surgical repair when my 9 year old was diagnosed with a torn cruciate and she has had three really good years now with no lameness. I'm always keen to avoid surgery where possible.

Try here http://www.vicdog.com/trials.htm Trial schedules are not usually in the Dogs Vic magazine. VHA trial is at KCC Park on April 5 and 6, tests will be on the Sunday. Entries close Sunday! Schedule is on the website above. Entry forms are here http://www.dogsvictoria.org.au/MembersArea/PerformanceEntryForm.aspx You can enter instinct and herding test (HT) or instinct and pre-trial (PT) at the same trial, just need to do your instinct cert first, the trials are usually set up this way anyway. HT is optional. You need one instinct cert, and two passes for HT and/or PT.

Good luck piper. Good luck keeping up too  I'm entered in the open trial the Wednesday before the Nationals. Sorry, can't help with Canberra. Hopefully someone else will come in with ideas.

Thanks piper, I am so stoked. Never thought we'd get this far. Still grinning!

You did great! And Seven is such a clever girl. Well done on your class win I know it's the pass card we are after, but it's nice to get a ribbon too.

Well done! Onwards and upwards :) Cash and I got our Advanced A title on Sat. Long hard road, but well worth it.

Good start to the trialling season for me with Cash getting the final two passes needed for his Advanced A sheep title today. I taught him to cross drive this summer, I think that helped

Weird Stuff Your Dog Is Frightened Of
superminty replied to apocalypsepwnie's topic in General Dog Discussion
At around 5 months, Thisbe freaked out about a scooter parked near my mum's house. A week later she lost it over a BMX bike stencil at the BMX track near me. So I start to think she has a bike phobia, but discover that she is just fine when someone is riding them! Also ok with bicycles, trail bikes etc. She got over the pictures of bikes thing, but still cant walk past this one stationary scooter. Once it was parked somewhere slightly different - she took a little convincing but managed to walk right past it. Still won't go past it where it is usually parked, so whatever worried her that first time really stuck! -
I have always left my dogs crated with Elizabethan collars before and had no issues. I prefer to crate them coz then they can't get stuck on anything...

My magic crate puts my puppy to sleep - and that is truly magical as she is a very busy little miss. I love that crate eta: my other magic crate catches kelpies - there always seems to be one in there.

[melbourne] Morons Letting Off Fireworks
superminty replied to PepitoVFR's topic in General Dog Discussion
I go to South Gippsland every NYE. Not a firework to be heard. Going bush is definitely the best option! -
Nice work piper. Must be very satisfying :-) The one time Cash and I tried to help out on a "real" job, it did not go quite so well! A friend of a friend had a handful of rogue sheep on his hobby farm that they couldn't catch. I sent Cash around the sheep, they took off and the whole lot of them disappeared over the nearest hill! We found them by following the sound of Cash barking - he had them cornered on the edge of a 3 metre drop off and they were not moving. Ended up roping them and basically dragging them to where they needed to go. Must say though, we'd never have got near the sheep if it wasn't for Cash, so I guess he was somewhat useful...

Agillity Jumps- Where To Buy?
superminty replied to Cosmolo's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
These guys have just given me an extremely reasonable quote to ship 4 hurdles from NZ. Worth an email. http://www.agilitystuff.co.nz/index.html Or wait til Xmas time and hope for worldwide free shipping from Clean Run :-) -
I only ever comment on weight in a professional capacity (they're paying for my opinion anyway) or on very good friend's dogs that I know are usually a healthy weight. I had a fellow trainer ask once whether I ever fed my dogs - both were in peak competition condition. Her dogs are, IMO, overweight. My comment was "clearly we have a difference of opinion on what a healthy weight is". Each to their own. If someone I knew commented that my dogs were over/underweight, and they kept their dogs at what I consider to be a healthy weight, then I would definitely take notice. Anyone else - not so much.

Don't think that will help with stopping him scratching his ear. :) Lol. That'll teach me to skim read posts! I think they should add a hood for these such instances :-)

Baskerville basket muzzle. Lightweight, fit well and not expensive. You can buy them at Petstock, not sure where else.

Oh, I was just coming in here to give you the hurry up about your brag  CONGRATUALTIONS!!!!

Were you at the OES trial in a cowboy hat a couple of weeks ago? I thought it might have been you but didn't want to make a fool of myself by gong up and saying Hi and finding out you weren't. LOL Lucky you didn't, it wasn't me! Are you telling me there is someone else with a cowboy hat going around?!? Quells horreur! It's usually my trademark.
-
Well, you probably won't notice how angry he is, he looks pretty normal, but I tend to pre-warn people :)

I am there all days Moving in for the week  I stayed with Dave and Trudy last year in the US and have worked with Trudy extensively so I am extremely excited about getting to work with Dave now too. Really liked what I got to see in the US. I'll be the one in the cowboy hat with the angry kelpie...
