Just wanted to share this image with you. It was emailed to me as part of one of those dog picture chain emails. What a good natured dog to put up with that!
-
It could also be the case that the breeder isn't good with emails. I know plenty of people who are terrible on the phone, they sound so un-interested, or abrupt, but in person they are very nice, chatty, etc. I'm sure some people can be like that with emails too. (even forum posts ). Perhaps the breeder is new to emails (not as un-common as one might think).
-
It may have happened. It is one of those things though. There are people who will never question anything they believe, they are always right and that anyone who makes them question for a moment that they might be slightly wrong will have no choice but to resort to flaming, sarcasm, insults and perhaps even threats.

"and in science news today 78% of American have been found to be totally rude" LOL

OMG that is a brilliant idea!

Thanks Erny, yes he was very niose responsive before the drops. Probably just over concerned, its been ages since I had a puppy and never delt with ear mites before (poor little guy!) haha true, things sound weird with drops in your ears. Thanks for the congrats, its exciting having a new pup around the place. Haha I was suprised the name Kal wasn't already taken!

Heya, We just recently acquired a Shelty pup and it turns out he has ear mites . We took him to the vet the day after he started shaking his head and scratching his ear (the earliest appointment we could get), thinking maybe it was an ear infection (having had those I know how painful they are!). The vet said it looks like he has had the mites for a while as he had "quite a colony in there". We were given a course of apex ear drops for his ears and puppy/kitten revolution as a preventative. After the drops were first administered we started notising that he is less responsive to us calling out to him or making noises. We've started wondering if having ear mites at such a young age (8-9 weeks) could cause long term deafness? or just a result of a build up of the brown gunk associated with ear mites?

We've used flea bombs (they kill spiders too!). I use a day when I have the whole day free and do the following: - Get all the dogs bedding and put in the wash - on hot, with a vinegar rinse. - Vacuum the house thoroughly. - Take dogs outside, and set up the flea bombs, closing windows and opening internal doors. - While outside I wash the dogs thoroughly and use a flea rinse or shampoo (or both). - The night before I spray the inside of the car with bug spray (I'm terrified of having a spider in the car while I am driving) - once the dogs are bathed and clean and dry and brushed it has probably been enough time to open up the house to the outside air again. - Take the dogs for a drive to waste some time, go for a walk, visit people etc. - Come home to a house with no more bugs and washing ready to be hung out Don't forget your own bedding and to have mattresses lifted up during the bombing. After all this I also iron all the towels and sheets (even dish cloths!) and things that can be ironed on hot with steam. And yep, be sure to bomb under the house. Use a good brand like mortein and air out the house before going back in to live in there and you should be fine with respect to allergies, hayfevers and asthma (have your asthma gear ready though, better safe than sorry) Hope that helps. Ohh to go over the top even further (as I like to do) I also plant lavender around the house, I read somewhere that fleas don't like lavender. I don't know if it is true but it sure smells nice! I know I sound completly OCD about this...but it works a treat!

Anyone know of any retailers near Harden, Yass or Young NSW that sell Barf Patties? Are there any mail order companies that deliver to these areas? Thanks for the help Cheers, P.S. Wagga, Canberra and Bathurst are AGES away! I've been searching Google and DOL forums with no success. EDIT: Changed title, no idea if that'll help.

I use the Barf diet with my Sams, and the vets always comment on their health and especially their teeth considering their age, Sheba (see avatar) is 8 years old and has perfect teeth still! yay! Let us know if the breeder of the two dogs of yours changes his mind after seeing them! I guess people just get stuck in their ways Good luck at the specialty show! I'm amazed that the diet changed the temperament of your boy! Then again, they now recomend children have special diets when they have ADHD etc, I suppose dogs wouldn't be any different.

I remembered this site about clipping black nails and thought it might be useful to someone. http://www.akita-friends.com/special/groom3.htm Hope the link works

Your Suggestions For Socialisation: Places Etc.
Kal replied to haven's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
what a great thread. Someting I hadn't seen posted that might be of use was skateboards. You know the noise they make while going down the footpath, over the cracks etc? My girl used to be scared of that noise when she was young. Another one was the postman and his/her motorbike. And getting the dog used to the fact that the postman is gonna come everyday! -
I used it on my Samoyed bitch who used to hate the show ring and now absolutely adores it. I used RR and found it had great results. Just putting a few drops on the tongue usually really helped, these days though I don't use it for the dogs as they are now hyper enough But that reminds me...I should use it more often on myself!!
