  8. It's not always about money! People just need to know their rights and seek Information In the right places for help. Without going In to too much detail, a very recent case of a dog who was seized In Vic, was later released with no restrictions, with no exchange of money What I'm angry about Is what right or qualifications do council staff members have In being Judge Jury and Executioner In these said cases where dogs without chips and are not claimed by owners are automatically labeled as RB's and PTS I realize there are also some very nice and helpful council workers and staff......so please understand I'm not tarnishing them all as the same Indeed she will ;) Edited for some clarifying
  9. Wow, talk about confusing! I thought my question was pretty straight forward I do know all about owners rights In regards to N.O.I, BA and TT What I wanted to know Is the rights of a stray dog who lands itself in the pound So according to this Wherezaball technically this dog should not have been labeled as a Pit Bull by staff as they are not breed assessors ?? You did mention that Council Officers are not authorized breed assessors! So technically It should be allowed to be released, but then Issued with an N.O.I as staff "believe It to be of RB'? I do believe If this Is indeed the case, staff hell bent on not releasing will come up with things like the dog Is aggressive, It didn't pass this or It didn't pass that just so not to release the dog This is their way of getting away with not following the due process Is It not ? This Is a direct quote of what was said by a staff member after one look at the dog when the dog was brought In: Talk about Ignorance I know how hard and how big a job It Is, I was trying to help the person who found the dog. If I was still In Rescue, and had the room, yes I would have taken her on As for passing the BA & TT I'm not qualified nor do I believe in ID a dog based on looks alone, so I make It a habit not to answer those questions.....we all know how many times too many dogs get ID wrong and end up paying with their lives And I know all too well on how some of these dogs are TT too! In where many with perfect stable dogs claim that their own dog would not pass On a final note I've received notice that she was re claimed by owner, so a very happy ending for Christmas Dog as she was appropriatley named by person who found her!
  10. Is there any way It can be contested? ie: person brings stray In, staff look at the dog and deem It a RB and will not allow It to be re homed or released (Unless owner comes forward). Can the person who brought the stray In request that the dog have a N.O.I issued at their own expense? If pound then allows the dog to go through the N.O.I, If It's then deemed a RB x does the pound then still have the right not to release the dog and have It PTS? Or does this all vary within different councils? This Is In the Shoalhaven City Council that I'm asking about Thanks ETA: I've had a look at their council website, and there Isn't much In regards to RB's

  15. Sorry now you guys have totally lost me with all that techno jargon If they were all edited In the same manner and uploaded the same, I still don't get why 3 turned out bad I will see about calibration of monitor, god help me If I start playing around with settings I have no clue about I will probably leave It at that, as I'm not an expert so It's more than likely my fault, no point In complaining However will give It another go at next years calender and see how It goes! I will also make sure to order one a lot earlier to make sure It's ok, then order more, as with this lot I ordered 3......Big Ooooops!!! What Is a BNP file? Or how Is It different to a JPEG ? I also thought that the bigger the file as in Pixels the better It would print! I have CS4 Thanks again
  16. Did she send that one back to them, and then they sent out another?
  17. We have a number of photos on bubble and have had them do some posters for us - always good quality. the ink you use is different to the inks they use in production runs - not only in the composition but in the actual colours. You can get a file fairly close to those colours in photoshop and other programs do have options to alter the colours for industrial printing requirements. What program did you do the photos in and what format and settings did you upload the files as? They were all edited In PS maybe a couple In LR, I'm not sure what you mean about format or settings, but they were uploaded as JPEG, sorry not really savy In this department I feel horrible complaining to them, but might shoot them a message and see what they say Thanks for the Input all
  18. Thanks Kirislin, I would but I'm just not sure whether, It's my fault I'll see If anyone else has had a problem first Would the pics change after enlargement of that size, I just don't understand why It's only a few of them, If It was a printing fault, wouldn't they all turn out bad ? But yet I look at the originals and they're definitely something different
  19. I've received my calender today, and am a little disappointed with a couple of the pics colours not matching up to the pics themselves! one was darker to original print, a sepia one looks more yellow than sepia What did I do wrong, or can It be the printing side of It at fault? Most of them came out great, true to the original pic, so why the 3 or so not Has anyone else had a problem? Thanks
  20. LINK Does Denver know a pit bull when it sees one? The city of Denver's faulty logic just got proven even faultier. As if the city's ban on pit bulls, which has led to hundreds of dogs being put to death, weren't ill-advised enough, there's this: Apparently even experts can't correctly identify a pit bull visually. Denver Post columnist Bill Johnson took part in experiment this week , along with about two dozen animal-shelter directors, volunteers, dog trainers and others. They viewed 20 dogs on videotape and were asked to identify each one — whether it was purebred of mixed and, if the latter, what it was a mixture of. Johnson got the breed correct one time, and the professionals didn't fare much better. The breed identification study was administered by Victoria L. Voith, a professor of animal behavior in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University in Pomona in California. Shelter workers, she explained, are generally 75 percent wrong when they list or tell you the breed of a dog. The only sure-fire way of knowing, she said, is DNA testing, which most shelters don't use. "Visual identification simply is not in high agreement with DNA analysis," Voith said. "Dogs in Denver may be dying needlessly," she said.
  21. Great pics everyone, I love these kinds of threads Will post my 3 later, won't be that hard

  23. Great pics from all JS love those Piggie ones After 4 days of setting this one up and not getting what I was after, we both well and truly gave up, yes Ruth I did try again, but for some reason It just didn't work with the two of them, but yet when I tried with just her alone It did! Anyway here It Is....He Came Bearing Gifts!
  24. I agree I spent just under $900 for mine, and I regret It, It's a compact with a 18x zoom lens. I wished I'd saved that little bit extra and waited to get a Cannon 40d, I know they're no longer available now, they were at the time!.... but I find the Olympus really hard to use and I'm not happy with It overall, I know that I would never outgrow a 40d, so it would have been money well spent! God knows when I'll ever be able to upgrade It now, how sad, coz I'm kinda drooling on the new 7d
