  1. Yes Bilby... 'keeping Bouf company'... we believe you Must be sooooo hard when you can't get to work... I would try that excuse but seeing I live 5 minutes away, I don't think they'd fall for it!!! Good to hear El Boufo is doing well, and yaay for him starting his rehab walks!!! Attaboy!!! Chloe is also having episodes of shaking itchy ears, maybe it's just that time of year? Yes the slips, that will be never ending worry. And she jumps up and throws her legs everywhere, slides around... just can't stop her. She's being extra naughty today, sometimes I could swear she is a miniature human in a furry coat... driving me to insanity with her moods and tantys today, not to mention just a bit too much silliness and selective hearing... The arrogant looks I get when I'm calling her to come inside and she just looks at me and then turns her head 'pfft'... It's one of those days!!! Didn't have any problems hearing me call for her dinner though Hi Corine!! Hey I'll bet Dunc stole the show... he is a bit of a stunner, and from what we hear, has the personality to match... Mel must roll her eyes and think to herself 'here we go again' when she's 'supposed' to be the centre of attention and Dunc has the ladies drooling over him!!! And of course being a Bionic dog only makes him more appealing to us!!! How did Mel go?
  2. Let me just say Berly... that Jordan of yours really is a big spunk!!! Even with the strange shaved leg, he's still a handsome fella!!! Thanks for the pics, he's looking good Berly!!! Congratulations!!! Pelusa (OH's GSD girl) sends a wink his way
  3. :D Hehehhehe, that is rather funny... hopefully the uniforms come in bigger sizes to accomodate my chubby girl!! I thought the part about Mallee and the blowing curtain was certainly the highlight... I got a real good laugh out of that (hey you've gotta laugh!!) Yes I can imagine the lazy buggers now... 'yeah we'll get him tomorrow' as they snuggle into their beds... Chloe almost caught one yesterday. She saw a blue cattle dog walking in 'her' park (criminal offence) from our front yard yesterday and boy, did she give him an earful (which didn't scare him in the slightest). But I had to drag her inside kicking and screaming like a banshee. Made her dinner yesterday and she was so hungry she took off to her 'feeding place' screeched round the bend in the laundry and back legs went sprawling. I nearly died. But she picked herself up and kept right on going full pelt... I don't know what's more damaged out of her legs or her brain!!! Thanks for the laugh guys, it cracked me up... I literally laughed out loud to the disgust of fellow workers... who all eyed me suspiciously!!! Hey Berly, good to hear the Jordan is getting about again now. Yes I think the weather does play a part, but also probably now he's using it more it will be a bit more tender until he builds his muscle up. Hopefully he'll take it slowly and not try to do too much too soon. I think I know a pretty girl GSD who'd think your boy was terribly handsome!!! Anyway, better be off... I try to do some work Berly, but the lure of DOL is just too great!!! Have a great weekend all!!! lotsa love, Kel and the 'terrifying' Chloe
  4. Aaaahahahaha , they must indeed think alike!!! I thought I got in before you too, but obviously not!! Well good news that Mallee is on the road to recovery (again). Seems not too much permanent damage was done. Now she's off to be wrapped in that cotton wool!! Hehehehe. I always love the clumsiness of the big dogs, but Mallee Moo just takes the cake!!! Your new vet sounds great, it's nice to have confidence in them. So how long does Mallee have to have the ear drops for? Will this be an ongoing problem for her? Thank goodness that Chloe has uprights... although there is something always tickling her big ears!!! Just went online shopping for a few things for Chloe this morning... she is way too spoilt. I won't say the $$$ I spent, but I just go mental 'yes she might need one of those, oh haven't tried those etc...'. Lucky I won some money on the pokies last night (yes I love my pokies sadly), so I guess that sort of rationalises it right??? Good reports, that's what I like to hear!!! Thanks for the update buddy!!! Love, Kel and ChloBo Mallee's cheergirl
  5. Hey Antoinette... what's the verdict? How is the baby mite?
  6. Bilby you're too funny (and lots of 'sympathy' for you being unable to attend work - what a shame )!!! That's a great suggestion though... But little did you know, Chloe is the ultimate sniffer dog. When I get home, I get the full once or twice over for any food stuffs, or any contact with another animal of any kind. And I mean, she spends a good 20 mins sniffing me, my bags etc for anything of interest, or anything digestable. She really should have been a customs dog I think... sniffing out the people trying to smuggle food through the borders I just love that pic of Bouf... the big dufus!!!
  7. Oh Berly, you poor thing. You have finally reached the 'guilt' stage. Don't feel bad, nothing is your fault. You have done the best possible thing for Jordan to give him further quality of life. He may be just a bit grumpy about being locked up, but that's normal. Chloe was the same. Her personality changed and she became snappy and very intolerant whilst she was confined. But she beared with it, as Jordan is doing. He doesn't like it, but somehow knows it's just how it is for now and there is nothing he can do. Just keep remembering that it's all for the best and in his own best interests... he just doesn't know that!!! As time goes on and he becomes more active, he will go back to his old self... if not slightly altered. Try to give him as much attention as possible, lots of kisses and hugs and belly rubs and make sure that you indulge him in the things he is allowed to do. If his weight management is going well and he is losing weight even in his inactive state, maybe you could increase his quantity SLIGHTLY to see if it is food related? But believe me, when they are not moving around much they really don't need excessive feeding. But try slight adjustments. It's a bummer being confined, and he's just showing it. So chin up, you're doing great. We ALL get the guilts, but once the patient is well again it just becomes a different story!!! Well yesterday was another mile stone. Chloe was in the kitchen with me whilst I cooked her dinner, and she apparently was starving from the manic search of food smells she conducted!!! I turned my back for less than 2 seconds to get the chicken out of the fridge... and guess who was standing on her back legs, with front paws on the sink trying to reach the food... YES the little bugger was standing tall on her back legs, not a problem in the world. Wow was I happy (although its' very naughty!!) and sooooo proud. Doesn't seem like much, but it was huge for me to witness it and when I (still in panick mode) told her to get down, she looked at me with a cheeky grin and stood her ground. :D Geez I was impressed. As you can tell it doesn't take much, but I know you guys will appreciate it, seeing we've all been in the same boat. It's just amazing coming from the dog that not even a year ago was pretty much written off and the thoughts of the 'kindest thing' were being floated around... Anyways, just wanted to share that 'big' but very minute triumph!!! Mallee is going back to vets today right? Let us know how she goes Antoinette. Hopefully the stitches will come out and she will be using all 4 paws again happily!!! Lots of love, Kel and the dynamic ChloBo (what a girl!!)
  8. Hi friends!!! So glad to hear that Mallee is moving around better now, what a relief. Hopefully although it seemed horrific, not too much damage has been done. And although this sounds really cruel.... hiding from the blowing curtain looks like a good sign to me. I think a whole bunch of cats could parade in front of the window now and Mallee would keep a safe distance.... well we can only hope hey? The only problem there is the permanent mental scars it leaves.... and later on develops into OCD tendencies (as we see from Chloe's weirdo ways)!!!!!! :D Seriously though, glad you guys made it through this round of injuries sanely, surely it's gotta be relatively smooth sailing from here on in doesn't it??? The ear thing may not be too serious. Chloe also has regular periods where she does the same thing ie, the shaking, scratching and holding it at a weird angle... although she's never scratched it so hard it bleeds? She usually gives it a little scratch then comes to someone for them to make it better (big bloody sook). But best to have the vet check it out... after all you will already be there for all the other injuries. You guys have the patience of a Saint, you really do. Mallee is one of the luckiest pooches alive. Great news of Bouf too. I love the pics of him and Axle. Aren't they just adorable together, they really seem to really get along with each other. Axle is such a cutie too. See things are on the up again!! We all have those melt down moments, geez I remember going through quite a few when Chloe was the patient. I remember driving to bf's work to drop something off one morning and bawled my eyes out the whole way cause we had been up at 4am trying to cut Chloe's bandage off her leg that she had chewed half way off... and do you think we could find scissors that cut??? I was a blubbering mess for a couple of days after that... go figure??? Hey you've come off a bad run of luck so I'm not surprised you would add a few extra kilos... it's either that or knock yourself out with some powerful substances!!! I will do some research to see if Hills make some human form of Chloe's prescription food, I'm sure she'd gladly swap as it seems to be bland as batsh!t, but hey it works.... Just think, when Bouf's back to his old self you'll lose it in a jiffy chasing after him!!! Just on a side note and a bit off track... but I only just read that Hills is owned by Colgate Palmolive... strange... Anyways, big big hugs to sooky lala Mallee Moo... we just gotta love her and hoping she gets a good report on Wednesday. Also cheers to Boufo who after a shaky start seems to be going great guns now!!! Must be all of Nurse Axle's patient love and care  !!!! hehehehhe. Hope Jordan is also still doing well Berly. Lotsa love, Kel and ChloBo (who loves when Aunty Antoinette sends her special hugs!!)
  9. Hi all!!! Firstly, must check up on how baby Mallee is doing? And you too Antoinette? Is she improving, and are you still sane? I guess the good thing to come out of it is that you found a good vet that you feel comfortable with, although fingers crossed you will only need them for vaccinations from now on. I changed vets after my last girl passed away, as I just didn't feel right about the care they gave. Chloe now goes to the vets at the RSPCA, in lieu of not having time to find another vet when we first got her. They seem to do a good job and they always treat her nicely, although you wouldn't know from the turn she puts on. But they give her liver treats, which soon sees her becoming a bit more friendly!!! From last week though, I've been a bit suspicious.... they wrote on the invoice that she was a red merle (which I thought was only applied to Aussie Shepherds?)... I thought that was a bit strange... Anyways, let us know how you guys are doing. I can imagine the poor little bugger was very frightened... ohhhh, need to change topic, too scary to think about... Nice to hear from you Bilby... is that Bouf being interferred with by the little 'un? Love it, and I love the very tolerant look on his face. How are you guys doing? Son is still out of action, Bouf is in recovery mode, and now Axle (hey what's a toe between friends... don't really need so many do they???) :D I also would have thought that perhaps a little more concern would be shown... after all, I certainly like all ten of mine!!! With the powder glucosamine, I generally put some warm water in Chloe's food (esp if it's dry food) and make a gravy out of the powder and water and mix it into her food - also softens it a bit and makes it not so dry and bland. It helps that she's a bit of a pig and licks her bowl sparkling clean, so any residue gets vacuumed up by the Chloester. Also used to use the meat juices to mix the powder into and add to food - but as we are calorie counting now.......... Anyway, hope things are getting better for all. ChloBo's doing well, little bugger almost bowled me over when I got home, geez she's getting strong. She appears to be losing a bit more weight, but that could also be wishful thinking. Well I've blabbed enough. Better be off, I have new DVD's to watch!! Lots of love, Kel and the Chloe-ster ;)
  10. Don't worry about Chloe, she's fine considering what poor sister Mallee has gone through... Antoinette, I just can not imagine it, although I wouldn't really want to imagine what it must have been like. It sounds just too horrific. Poor little baby girl. The worst thing in my mind is how scared she must have been... lucky Brock was there to take charge. If it was me, I would have panicked and fallen in a heap I'm sure. I'm just dumbstruck and don't know what to say. You guys have been through sooooo much, more than any of us. Her poor legs are certainly taken a beating... first the bones and now the soft tissue. To keep having these bad luck events happening is just too awful for words. I am glad that Mallee is okay though, and hopefully she will think twice before trying anything near the window again. But still, it's a horrid thing to have had happen and must have given an awful fright to all involved. Sending lots of hugs to all three of you. Just remember that she is only a baby and will grow out of this 'grazed knee' stage soon hopefully. Please keep us updated on poor little Mallee. And my thoughts are with you after the nightmare you endured last night. Lots of love to you guys, Kel and Chloe who sends extra special kisses
  11. Morning all! Well, sort of good news from you and Bouf, Bilby. It's great that the bone regrowth is going well, congratulations... that's some of the battle won!!! Not so good news about the meniscus. I have heard that if there is a problem there that it can be very painful, and could well explain Bouf's lameness. Thankfully Chloe had both of her removed with each surgery (they were both badly damaged and of no use anyway - only causing more pain), and also at her age, we didn't want to risk having to have surgery again. Hopefully Bouf will be fine and further surgery will not be needed, however if it is, I don't think it will be as huge as the cruciate surgery... Your OH sounds like a fantastic person, it's just that people who don't know much about this type of surgery often take the dogs activeness as an indication of them being 'healed'. My parents were FANTASTIC helping me with Chloe, however as they had not done the research and spoken to the surgeon, they did not truly understand the full dangers either. Like you, I exaggerated. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. They don't mean any harm though, they just want everything to be back to normal (after all it IS a long ride), and they get way too over excited when progress is shown... and all the rules go out the window. Like I've said before, just gotta keep patient and keep reminding the dangers, the risks and the rules... and good on you for exaggerating. Maybe you will have more luck now!!! Fingers and paws crossed that Bouf comes through and no more surgery is needed. And go and get a good rest before you really crack it!!! Berly, fantastic news about Jordan. Good on you. I know that it's hard when you don't feel you get the support you need. I went through that too. But you always have us to rant to, and you should know that you've done a great job for your old boy. And to lose 2kg as well!!! Congratulations on all your hard work, and may Jordan continue to go from strength to strength. Thanks for the tip re the apple cider. May give it a shot... although I'm not entirely convinced it's a UTI. Will take her tomorrow to the vet to have a check (and a weigh in to see if she's lost anymore weight!!). Hi fungles, thanks for stopping by to check in on us. Chloe lost 0.6kg in her last weigh in, so hopefully that's a good sign she's on her way back down. She does eat vegies, so we are thinking about going down that route soon. I wanted to stick to her Prescription Diet as it does work for her, however it might be time for a change. Although her coat and condition is in great form. She needs to get down to at least 23kg, so she's got a long way to go (currently 27ish kg). Is Fungles beating his battle of the bulge? And Antoinette, thanks for the tip about the rice and carrots. She used to have rice in her food, but once she went on a diet that all stopped. I was thinking about it last night and wondered if Chloe would just munch on a raw carrot??? I'll give it a shot, stranger things have happened and lately she's not tooooooo fussy with her food. Hey at least Mallee Moo's run of bad luck and eating remote controls seems to be over... she's lined up that nice looking new couch though!!! How's she going lately? Is she loving going for walkies etc? Well I think that's it for me... better do some work!!! Lots of love to all, Kel and ChloBo
  12. Best of luck for Bouf... Hope he's just jarred his leg or something and not done too much damage. Can't wait for the verdict. Yes best to take OH and let him hear the harsh reality from the vet... it's funny how we worry about the dogs, but at least they behave as best they can... it's the others we have to worry about!!! Thinking of you guys... Also thinking of Berly and Jordan who are also due for a check up today? Anxiously awaiting the old boys results!!! Best of luck to you too. Taking Chloe back to the vets soon as she appears to perhaps have a urinary infection of some type. She is constantly licking after she does wee's and the area surrounding is very red and raw. I don't know, if it's not one thing it's another. Also her wee's are really burning the grass. We have taken her off the diet dry food and are just giving her the diet can food and some boiled chicken. Lots of love, Kel and bum dragger Chloe :D
  13. Hi all!!! So glad that things are going well for you and Jordan, Berly. He sounds like he's really coming along. Just remember, if he has put on a little weight it is only natural seeing that he's been crated for 5 weeks. So don't be disappointed. As long as he's not putting on huge amounts, and hopefully he will start to lose it as he becomes more active. Great to hear he is weightbearing so well and building up muscle. See, our oldies aren't doing so bad are they? Five weeks down... Koza, such fantastic news that Stella is doing so well. 7km's is huge, and to not pull up sore is great. Chloe is at about 1km or 2km a day, which is good. Hopefully as the weight comes off she will gain more fitness, although I now worry about her arthritis, but it doesn't appear to be affecting her. Antoinette, thanks for the post. You made me smile!! We all have bad days like that, so don't you worry. Like yesterday, I have to tell you I was so embarassed. I got home from work and Chloe was just returning from a walk at the park. She spotted me across the road and her bum started wagging, she crossed the road and Dad let go of the lead. And let me tell you, she ran to me. Not just a jog or a trot, but a full pelt, ears back, gleaming eyes, big smile, tongue dangling RUN. I haven't seen her do that for so, so long. And you know what.... I cried. Silly I know, but when you've been where we've all been, it's something that only we can appreciate. I also still have the occassional sleepless night where I worry about whether she is in pain, her arthritis, her weight etc. So I understand fully, and sometimes we just need to be picked up and reminded of what we already know. Thanks for dropping in as well Corine... and you are right, I was squeezing a bit too hard!!! Seconds after that shot was taken she broke into a fit of big licks all over my face!!! Bilby, TOMORROW is the big day... we will anxiously await the vet's verdict... Good luck!!! All fingers and paws crossed for you!!! So, it's good news all round... this has certainly turned into a good luck thread with a great success rate!!!! Keep up the good work guys, and hugs to all our brave furkids!!! Lots of love, Kel and Chlo-Bo
  14. And just to give you a laugh, here is me and my bestest friend in the world... look at her big smile ... she loves cuddles!!
  15. Hi Antoinette, Well you poor thing. Do you know, I'd never quite thought about things like that... what a quandry you are in. One thing I will say though is that Mallee, although restricted, is living a good life. Not many dogs get to be treated with such kindness and dedication. And let's face it, if she'd been owned by anyone else, chances are she would not even be alive now. The other thing is, yes she is restricted in some ways, but she also hasn't really ever known any better... you know? That might sound callous, which is not intended, but this way has been her life and she would had to have adapted to it. It's not like she is abused in anyway or treated cruelly as some dogs face in their lives. She is loved and adored, well fed, looked after, fussed over... so don't feel bad. You guys have done a marvellous job. She just has special needs because of what she has been through. Mallee is, the real Bionic Super Dog. So in saying that, I guess to put your mind at ease, you would probably have to find a balance between 'cotton wool' and 'jumping into the deep end'. So that she gets to live a dog life, but in moderation. I suppose just make a plan of what will satisfy both you and Mallee and what you feel comfortable letting her do. Sure you may only feel comfortable giving her light exercise and shorter, more regular walks; as opposed to rough play and flying through the air catching a ball... but really, there are worse things for a dog to be deprived of. She will still get her walkies and exercise, but without endangering her. I can see where you are coming from though, although with Chloe she has had a really good life... still it's a shame for things to change, but she's alive and her life is full of other things that make her happy. So we concentrate on them and fuss over her when she enjoys them things. She so used to love to run and jump and catch the ball. I don't mind her running a bit, but it still makes me nervous and jumping would give me a heart attack. So if she really wants the ball, I have taught her to stand a bit away and throw it just so she can catch and bring it back. I KNOW, not so much fun and she doesn't enjoy it as much... but the alternative could be worse. I have also taken to hiding all her balls and supplying her with a constant supply of fluffy squeaky toys which she is happy to shake and squeak and toss to herself, and she loves it and best of all, she is safe. I guess what I'm saying is to ramp up what she enjoys and you feel comfortable with her doing, and place less emphasis on what she might be missing out on. After all she's been through, I don't think she'll ever come entirely out of the cotton wool but life will still be enjoyable for her. You guys are so devoted to her, how can she not be a happy and much loved puppy? My post is probably all over the place as well, just random thoughts. But I just wanted you to know that I really admire what you guys have done and have no qualms that Mallee will always be a happy girl, no matter what. Well better be off... hope you all have a good weekend... Oh and PS........ Chloe was weighed yesterday and has lost 0.6kgs since her visit to the ortho surgeon.... and now is trialling a different diet of the Prescription Diet dry food mixed with the same brand diet canned food which she absolutely gobbles up!!! Expensive as hell, but hey, she's worth it!!! Lots of love, Kel and the Chloe
  16. Hi Bilby You could be onto something there, although she does get a very small breakfast (which I am trying to cut out completely). The problem with small regular meals is that I couldn't possibly trust anyone in my house to comply with the regulated amounts. 'Oh but it's only a small amount, look how sad she is, she's still hungry' gets bandied around our house far too often. I have also been labelled a Nazi cause I have increased the Prescription Diet and cut back on the fresh meat (which mum seems to soak in fat - cause 'we all need fats you know'... well not Chloe thanks!!). I feel bad too, but she eats it and I try to make it as tasty as possible with the fishy glucosamine that she loves. But it's worth thought about how I can try to make that work. Yes I also felt bad yelling at Chloe everytime she made a move that panicked us. She actually learnt the command 'sloooow'. Although she rarely listened to it. Also the 'no running', which she took glee in ignoring also. I think now we don't yell at her the fun is all gone and she can't torment us. And yes, I know all about the 'twizzle' and the tail chase. She learnt that she wasn't allowed to do it so would go around the corner of the house and give it a go, or you would hear thumps from inside her little house and she'd be in there trying to get away with it... Sounds like Bouf is going great guns, so that's good. Hopefully the xrays will confirm that. Poor son... should have taken him to Bouf's vet and he could have got better advice... Thanks for dropping by, and hope all continues to go well!! Love, Kel and Chlo
  17. Hi guys, how is everyone? Nothing exciting to report here... Chloe goes to have her vaccinations today, and it's the first time since forever that she gets to go to a 'normal' vet!!! hehehe, it's amazing the things we get excited about. She doesn't appear to be losing weight, and is now almost exclusively on her Prescription Diet, so I'm at wits end about her weight. It really concerns me. Been reseaching food and trying to get my hands on Natural Balance Calorie Reduced. I have also been doing spy work to see if anyone is feeding her when they shouldn't be. I know that next door throw bread pieces :p but no matter how much you threaten them they don't get it so we have to do a patrol of the fenceline every day. She's more active now but still isn't losing weight as she should, so we will have to try a few different things I guess. Anyway, how's everyone else doing? Lots of love, Kel and Chloe
  18. I have heard people adding gelatin to their dogs meal to fill up their bellies... does this work and is it okay does anyone know? I like you Aly have a chubby girl who is constantly on diets and is ALWAYS hungry... so some of these ideas are great instead of the old Prescription Diet...
  19. Oh isn't Dunc the cutest thing? Seemingly too smart for his own good, but still adorable. Agree with Corine, the leg muscles will develop once Jordan starts using them again. Chloe's had wasted away to almost nothing she had little chicken legs, but she has built much more muscle tone now however still a way to go. As they get stronger it will happen and your vet should let you know when it's time for him to work on his muscle and the best way for him to go about it. It is important for the muscles to build up as it will strengthen and stabilise the leg. We have built Chloe's up with short regular walks that have progressively gotten a bit longer... but we are not rushing anything yet!! Glad to hear both Bouf and Jordan are back to their 'normal' selves again. What a relief. Bilby, I wouldn't say you were a bad mum, I would have done the same thing!!! You are pretty funny though. I thank goodness that my poor parents stayed with Chloe 24/7 after I finished my holidays, they were a Godsend. About the pooing situation... , not sure Berly. I think it will differ depending on what you feed. I think Chloe poos about 2 or 3 times a day? Maybe 4? I wish I could ask her. I can't remember the last time she had "normal" non dieting food either so I can't even compare. Well it's good to hear that the patients are still doing well. We love good news!!! Keep it coming! Love, Kel and Chlo
  20. Thanks to you too Bilby!!! Not sure if we'll ever see her doing the flying catch, but hopefully she will be able to chase a ball again in moderation... and after all we've been through, believe me that's the best I could ever hope for!!! Since her restriction she's become a bit of a bum lying around alot, however when you jingle that lead she's off to the gate like a shot. It's so heartening to see, considering only last year she would hide in her bed at the thought of going for a walk and if she was forced to go she would lag behind sadly. Now you have to keep up with her!!! So I can only hope the best for your Bouf too. Regarding your OH, yes same attitude I got from my family. They thought I was just being anal and overly obsessed. They didn't understand that if the risk was there, then the chance to have it all go horribly wrong was also present... and I certainly didn't want to start all over again. Just gotta be patient and keep reinforcing the rules, as you guys are now in the danger period where Bouf is probably feeling much better than he has for a while and wants to go go go. Not good to hear of his accident either. Hopefully he has just made it a bit tender and sore but done no real damage. My surgeon was always of the opinion that if they suddenly went backwards in their progress for a period of longer than 24 hours or so then it was best to rush them back for a check up... but hopefully Bouf will come good and maybe even have learnt his lesson not to try to do too much (yeah right!!). Hehehehe, the last comment was a good one!!! It's an interesting theory!!! Add that to the amount of time we think about them and worry when they are not in sight, the loss of sleep etc, and you know what... the others are right... we probably are a little insane surely!!! In hindsight I must have been a terror to live with and my obsessive ways with Chloe... All I can say is we have some damn lucky pooches!!! But oh so worth it!!! Hugs to Bouf hope he's back on the road to recovery again soon. Lots of love, Kel and ChloBo
  21. Thanks very much berly... it is a great feeling and hopefully you and Jordan will know what it feels like soon!!! She is the queen of the castle at the moment and when the hair finishes growing back, hopefully no one will ever guess what she's been through for the last year. Sorry to hear of Jordan's fall. It's very worrying isn't it? Chloe also had a fall with her first leg and landed in the 'splits' position, but luckily it didn't hurt her. You will feel better once the vet has had a look though. Dogs can be deceiving and don't always show pain as we would expect them to, especially when it's their legs and they are pretty much forced to use them, pain or not. But if he is letting you touch the leg and hasn't regressed in his progress too much hopefully it was just a scare and it may be just a bit tender. However, nothing anyone says will stop you worrying until you get to your vet appt... trust me I know how that feels!!! Just keep an eye on him and keep him as quiet as possible, he is your boy and you will know if something is not right. How are you going with his weight management? Have you started him on a diet? If so, what are you feeding? Anyway, keep your chin up, you and Jordan are doing well and I'm sure you'll get a good report at the next check up. Lotsa love, Kel and Chloe
  22. Corine they are absolutely beautiful... better not tell Chloe she will be jealous!!
  23. Thanks so much Antoinette, I sure will pass on a cuddle to Chloe just from you and Mallee Moo. She's a bit oblivious to all the excitement today (was a big day for her yesterday) but she knows... she has been jumping up on me in excitement when I get home etc and bowling me over quite a bit lately, so I'm sure SHE knows that she's a normal dog again!!! Thanks for being there for me at all times, and lifting spirits when I needed it... and thanks for sticking with me on this long journey!!! Yourself and the others that have participated in or just read this thread have made a huge difference and now become firm friends. So, of course we will stay in touch and we'll keep flogging this thread to death... much easier with all the new patients to keep it flowing and active!!! So we've now joined the elite Bionic Dog Club with you guys. Aren't they just a super special bunch? What brave fur-friends we have to have endured so much and still come out smiling (and also much more spoilt ). Hope Mallee is still holding her throne on the new couch, and continuing to do well and improve also. Long way from being told she would never be able to do so many things isn't it? :D Thanks again!!! Will post a couple of pics when I can get them off my phone and onto the 'puter... of the super cool Chloe on her way to her triumphant vet appt!!! Lots of love, Kel and ChloBo (who sends a kiss to Aunty Antoinette!!)
  24. Oh it sure is just the best feeling ever... it's like a huge weight has been lifted!!! It's just such a great day... especially when I wasn't expecting to hear that news just yet!!! Thanks guys for your support, it has been an extremely loooooong journey... well it feels that way anyway. And thank goodness I have been able to share this experience with such great new friends that I have found here. It's just fantastic, and I can only hope that all those currently still going through the process can have such a good outcome and get to feel this feeling of pure triumph!!! :D :p :D :D  Here's to having a 'normal' bionic dog!!! Hugs right back to you guys, and to those still suffering. Lots of love, Kel and ChloBo
  25. She is HEALED!!!! HOORAY!!! The surgeon was very pleased and said that it was 99% healed and that the rest to go would not cause her any problems at all... and... NO MORE XRAYS!!! I can't tell you how good this feels... OMG... only negative was her weight, but apart from that.... WE ARE DONE!!! My little girl finally has her new legs... WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
