:dancingelephant: oh no.....I'm besmirched....woof..... fifi ooopss sorry Fifi........... I have no problem with advertising of a Stud Dog in a doggy magazine, internet etc. I enjoy looking at ads. I have a problem with those who actively chase up stud work for their dogs by direct contact. Angelsun I agree, I see it as pimping!

Hip Dysplasia Susceptibility In Dogs May Be Underreported
Stolzseinrotts replied to Jigsaw's topic in In The News
I agree with shortsep.........I would not be changing over for the reasons mentioned. I am not a fan of OFA either. It has been proven here that a dog that was OFA fair was rescored here at 5 years of age and under our system used here the dog scored 2.2 which should be an OFA Excellent. I like our system as it scores all areas and shows you were there are changes, thus IMO giving you a more accurate scoring and therefore picture of the hip status. I will stick with the system we have I think it is great! Off Topic a bit I will add that I have had a couple of dogs owned by me but living elsewhere radiographed by a Penn Hip Vet for the standard HD scoring used for Rottweilers and the positioning was bloody awful on one and the Vet was upset because I was not happy with it! Go figure...bad positioning equals higher score which was exactly what happened in this case with one of the dogs and the reason I was not happy at all. We only get one shot at our scores unless it is marked on the paperwork that the positioning affects the scores. Sad thing is these were all done digitally and I can't get a copy of the email that stated the positioning was poor so I am stuck with a score that I am not happy with due to poor positioning which blind freddy can see on the images. -
I too have completed your survey.

Following on from another topic. What are your opinions about Stud Dog owners actively seeking out and soliciting stud work for their dogs??? I personaly find it a bit offensive that people feel the need to do that. As a breeder you should know what is out there or at least have an idea of what is available and what may suit your bitch. Why do you need stud dog owners promoting their stud dogs to you with comments like......... "I think you should use my dog over your bitch, you would get great puppies" "My dog and your bitch would produce super pups" "You should use my dog he is Multi (fill in blanks ie titles) and he will help sell your pups" "You should think about using my dog over Fifi, he has produced this and that, you would get nice puppies" Promotion by way of advertising is a totally different kettle of fish. I am talking about those owners who actively seek out potential studs (bitch owners) at say shows or where ever a breed gathers is what I am talking about. What do other breeders think of those who promote their stud dogs in such a way?

You have been given good advice, I would like to add my comments......... Run a mile from this so called "breeder" It is part of the Vicdogs (VCA) code of ethics that a breeder will NOT home a puppy before they have reached 8 weeks of age. The puppy still needs to be with its litter mates and mother as this is the age of learning! And also vaccinations cannot be done before 6 weeks of age allowing the 10-14 days for it to take effect prior to going home. Again a breach of the code of ethics if it is not done prior to homing. In fact I would go as far as saying that you should report that breeder to the VCA for NOT complying with the code of ethics. I am over these breeders who to do NOT respect the code of ethics and do as they please. They should be held accountable for their actions. The breed you are looking for is a popular one, please take the time to find a reputable registered breeder who does the right thing by their dogs as well as their puppy people.

Police Dog Bites Boy, 8, During Search Of House
Stolzseinrotts replied to zoepuppy's topic in In The News
I can't see a reason why the dog should be Euth'ed - He was only doing his job so I really can't see why the dog is blamed in this situtaion. ;) Trained police dogs are worth a considerable amount not only in money and time but their worth to the police force. I feel for the child, but in all honestly I can't see why the dog should have to pay the ultimate price for doing his job. -
Looking forward to it!!! :p

KM, maybe try a steel fabricating company. You could also try some of the dog trailer manufacturers here in VIC, there a few in Vic. Also try the horse float people, they could make you a box and fit it as well for you. You will have a few options open to you. ETA; If you struggle than there are a few dog trailer people advertising on Ebay, contact them for an costing.

I am sorry to hear this news. KC has been riff here in Victoria and people really don't seem to care if they spread it around, I am so over people who show no respect to others. I really wish there was a way to police this and have the offenders held accountable. I know of somebody recently that had their dogs exposed to KC which in turn required Vet care with an expensive vet bill. The offender that spread it about kept their dogs out there and didn't care whether others got it ......... Such a bad attitude!!!!!

Need A Good Vet In Camberwell Area, Melbourne

everybody for all of the responses, I will give the guy a call with the info supplied. Again thank you! ;) ;) -
You could possibly hire some tempory fencing panels and put a tarp over the top. I think you will be hard pressed to find some kennls and runs for hire.

Hi ems999 Welcome to DOL. Now you know I will be biased in my answer. I would suggest talking with a few breeders and meeting their dogs. Also the obvious is that a Bull Mastiff is very different to a Rottweiler in many many ways. The age of your children does not overly concern me, I am not a fan of younger kids and dogs as younger kids take a lot of work for Mum and Dad let alone having a young pup to worry about. If you want to know more about the Rottweiler drop into the Rottweiler thread we are all very friendly in there.

Need A Good Vet In Camberwell Area, Melbourne
Stolzseinrotts replied to Stolzseinrotts's topic in General Dog Discussion
A general Vet. I had a guy ring me the other day about an issue he had, not sure why he rang me but I said I would ask around for a good Vet in his area who is OK with Rotts and get back to him. Hence the reason I ask for one in that area. I have no idea around Camberwell. -
Thank you to everybody who is posting the results, it is very much appreciated. Big Congratulations Flaves!!!! I hope you are all having a great time and staying warm!

I agree that is a great formula, I find the Leerburg site great for a lot of things. So very glad to hear the pug baby is coming along in leaps and bounds.

Re:- Bolded part of your statement. That is so the truth!!!! There are beautiful dogs that conform to their respective standard in backyards all around this country. Many of them worthy of being shown but they have been placed as pets because that is all the owner wanted. Finding suitable show homes is not that easy IMO. A show dog needs that "look at me" presence to stand out in the ring, many beautiful dogs just don't have that attitude and many also don't like the show ring and don't give their all.

It really depends on how much food you send, I always send dry food with the pups and post in packs when required. I don't send a 10kg plus amount but I do send about 3 kgs of dry of what they have been raised on, to me that is a lot of food for a puppy (we feed mostly BARF) and should last the new owner some time until they can organise to get their own dry sorted out, or let them know well and truly prior to sending the puppy that will allow them the time to get the same brand of food organised. If they can't get the same brand, then by sending them about 3 kgs worth of dry it allows them enough to switch the pup over to the other food by mixing it.
-
I send the puppy pack via mail for the interstate people, obviously perishable foods are not sent but dry food that is supplied goes in the puppy pack. I have done this on many occasions with litters with no problems.

Foxes are happily living in suburbia, we humans provide plenty of food and shelter for them. I think most people would be shocked to know that there are foxes in high numbers throughout suburbia.
