Nekbet has given you good advice, feed twice a day and try the Inner Health plus for a good 30 days or better still over 60 days. You may find that the oats are giving the stool a more liquid form. My older boy cannot tolerate a lot of oats in his diet, when he does get it he does have loose motions. Try barley in place of the oats. I would up the bone content in the diet as well, the more bone content the firmer the stools. The diet you are using is Ok but it needs to have more raw meaty bones in it for my liking. Try feeding chicken mince that is minced chicken frames, it has the bone content and the dogs love it. Also I would reduce the horse meat, it can go through them. Try beef brisket bones as well, a nice soft type bone with a good amount of meat and fat on them. It basically will be a bit of trial and error until you find the right blend so to speak, but as suggested up the content of raw meaty bones. They poo as they eat; we feed offal the stools are and can be loose, we feed chicken frames and or brisket bones the stools are firm. Too much vegetable material will make for loose stools etc. I hope that helps a bit.

After raising numerous litters on BARF I would never go back to a purely commercial diet. There are so many benefits on a BARF diet compared to a Comm. Diet. I am a BARF feeder / believer and have been for over 15 years now. I strongly urge all of our Puppy Buyers to continue on with the diet, but I do offer an alternative diet should they not wish to. As for bitches in whelp on a BARF Diet, I have never had a problem - all of them have had large healthy size litters with good weights. I strongly recommend a BARF diet for healthy dogs but at the end of the day I get that some people don't / can't do it. Since changing our dogs over to a BARF diet we do not have the Vet bills that we did prior to being on a commercial diet. I believe like ourselves, diet has a lot to answer for in regards to health. I will add that we do feed our pups some premium dry due to allowing them to know what it is prior to going to their new homes. We treat it a bit like junk food, it is not fed often but they do get a bit of it.

Sounds like it was a great show and I am sorry that I couldn't get there to be part of it, I woke up not feeling very well at all. Anyway, I am hoping that somebody may be able to give me the results of the Rottweilers from the show, please. Thank you in advance for any information.

Sadly a lot have and will be in the future. Some Vets are really just money hungry idiots. Always get a second opinion and if your are still not happy seek out a Vet who is highly recommended. ETA; Vets are like Doctors, only some are great and the others are run of the mill.

Firstly congratulations Trina on Jetts litter. It is a large litter for a first time mum and unfortunately sometimes mum's will squash a puppy not realising they are lying on them. Don't beat yourself up as you just can't watch them every single second of the day. You can only do as much as you can and get them through the first week or so, when they get a bit stronger they can sort of help themselves get out of trouble (sometimes). You just need to try and teach mum about being aware of where she is, some do learn and realise and some don't, that is just the way it is. Most of all you need to stay calm so that Mum stays calm. Help her as much as you can within reason. Welcome to the highs and lows of being a breeder. Like I have said to you there is still a very long way to go.

I use Huggies aloe vera wipes for my guys, they are great for everything including ears.

I can't speak highly enough about Tony, brilliant with the dogs especially the babies.

RIP Puppy I have been feeding BARF for 15 plus years and there have been many litters in that time raised on BARF including raw chicken frames of which is part of the food we feed out on a regular basis. I think you should just put it down to one of those things that happen. Looks like the puppy wasn't meant to be here for a long time, run free little one.

To all for posting the information about this breed. I am totally impresed in so many ways about this breed, and thanks to this thread I have learnt so much more about them. Hmm maybe one day I will get one but in the meantime I will admire them when I see them at the shows.

Fresh is always best and it does freeze and store well. Unfortunatley for me the lady I use to get goats milk from lost her life in the Vic Bushfires so I have had to go to UHT Goat Milk for my last litter due to the only other supplier of fresh goats milk that I can find is a 2.5hr drive each way. Hopefully you can find somebody close by with a couple of nanny goats, if not the fresh pasterised is available in some Woolworths and Coles it is made by Pauls, or get the UHT milk, the one we get here is Nanny Goat Lane, it is in a blue package, either way the pups love it as well as mum. I feed Mum a cup at least each day while she is feeding her babies. I still give all the dogs here a milk meal with a couple of eggs in it once a week or so, they all love the goats milk. Good luck in sourcing it and good luck with your litter.

Thank you for the replies. I am all for seeing adds for dogs, like I have stated, I like seeing adds promoting a dog or dogs. I have a couple of boys myself but I would never actively push / solicite for somebody to use them, I find that very offensive and honestly very inappropriate and therefore would not do it. I suppose at the end of the day each to their own. It has been an interesting thread and one where it seems it happens a lot more than I had thought. Andisa, thank you for sharing the email. Sadly I have had a few like that as well........I just shake my head. FHRP, I understand why you have done what you have, I get that and I hope you get a puppy from one of your boys as you would like. I also don't think the AB show ring is the be all and end all when it comes to breeds that are supposed to be a complete package. Personally the show results that mean something of worth to me are the ones from Championship Specialty Shows where you have large numbers of a breed competing. But like any show it is the judges opinion and we can agree or disagree with the results, that is why S. Shows are good as you really never know who will win until it happens and every judge has their own personal likes and dislikes.
