  1. As they say............the show must go on! Yes, last year was literally a wash out! I decided to not go last year because of all the rain that we had leading up to the shows. It may well be similar to last year should this rain continue.
  2. It all depends on the collection method and collecting Vet. Pellets under the Camelot system are statistically the best option IMO when looking at purely numbers only and the research / information that is available. However there are great size litters happening from old (20year +) collected straw systems and also the newer collections under the straw systems. It really depends on the quality of the semen and volume per straw / pellet, the post thaw motility is a big factor (some semen does not thaw well) as well as the timing for implantation which is the key to successfully getting a litter pending all the numbers being great in the semen counts. There are so many variables when using Frozen AI's for breeding. The greyhound people do mostly if not all breedings now via frozen and they have great success rates and a lot of them use the Camelot system.
  3. Can somebody please tell me what dog got BIS?
  4. Mine arrived yesterday. But there was no goup number breakdowns for the Sunday show only the Saturday show??? Current weather forecast as of this morning; Saturday - Clearing Shower - 5°C to 14°C Sunday - Mostly Sunny - 3°C to 14°C Bring your winter woolies!
  5. I am enjoying reading this thread. So many opinions, and all very interesting.
  6. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Could you please post the numbers.
  7. Good question. Like most "rules" that are imposed, most of them are not enforced and or policed. I am unable to find the update about this rule, nor am I able to find the rule on the VicDogs website.........can somebody tell me where I might find a complete listing of all the rules and regulations set out by the VCA. I can find some rules and regulations, but not all.
  8. Why don't you ask to have a look at the kennels. Most are happy to let you inspect them with prior notice given. The kennel you refer to is in Plenty and the others within the area are in Yarrambat. Your title could be misleading to those looking at your post.
  9. I would say regardless which state the bitch was shown in, if the exhibitor is a member of Vic Dogs then that rule would apply if they are the owner of the bitch as per the catalogue listing. It will be interesting to see what others say about this as it seems that the rule is not being observed and adhered to amongst many breeds.
  10. An excellent suggestion. Your puppy will get use to what ever you want him to if you teach him.
  11. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Good advice given! I would start to teach him now about the manners needed when around the bike. It makes things much easier when the time comes which would be after 12 months of age.
  12. Looks like the weather will be cool but mostly sunny at this stage. Sat May 14 - 15°C to 5°C Sun May 15 - 15°C to 5°C Numbers have yet to show up here as well.
  13. I personally like the collar to blend well with the dog, I think a line on the dogs neck that is not broken by colour is better on the eye. But hey we all like different things so each to their own. I have seen a lot of the bling leads and I would agree with Sway that some can and do detract from the dog. Edited for clarity on my statement.
  14. I have a cage / rack that runs the full length and width of the trailer. I had it made so that it maximises the storage area I have. It can be taken off if I want but I leave it on the trailer. I can get some pics if you wish but will have to wait until the weekend whn I have time to pull it out of the garage.
  15. I used one of my Glamour Show Leads over the weekend and was very very happy with it. I got one made long enough to use as a slip lead and it was great! As you can see I have Rottweilers and used it with one of my girls, so you can use them with the larger dogs with confidence.
  16. This was the first time that I have attended this show........... Well I can say that the food was excellent, the cakes to die for and the grounds were super!!!! To be able to watch the obedience rings was a super bonus and the weather was great! What an excellent Show and Trial, I hope to be back next year with an entry in both arenas. I would like to congratulate all the winners and grinners at both the Trial and Show. I would also like to Congratulate and thank all the very hard working Committee for putting on a great Show and Trial as well as supplying excellent food, you guys all deserve a pat on the back.........
  17. That is great news, and I do agree, sometimes waiting for the right home is worth the wait for all. ;)
  18. How did you go with your adds Paptacular! Has the pup found his new forever home yet?
  19. Don't you just love some puppy people.....not! I agree with Rebanne, tell them to watch your website for any updates and that YOU will be picking the pups, if they aren't happy with that, then you should suggest that they go elsewhere. Pushy people get no where with me.
  20. Thank you for posting the pics, and congratulations on Jasper's RUBOB!
  21. Thank you tollersowned , I have booked a room with the Coach House on your recommendation. It sounds great and has what I am after, plus having a carport is a bonus especially when you have dog / s in the car. Ceilidh I always do the right thing when travelling with dogs as I do know how hard it is to try and get accomodation (and it is getting harder). As usual a minority wreck it for the majority. I am aware of what happened there a few years back when the August International Shows were on (I was there) and I did speak with Stuart in depth about what had gone on and gave him a number of suggestions to address that problem. Some people........ The Barclay is all booked for the weekend I was after according to the online booking sites. I also like the Barclay having stayed before, Stuart and his family were very nice but I haven't stayed there since the new owners have taken over. The only downside for me at the Barclay is all the trucks pulling in and leaving the Service Station did keep me awake of a night. You can't have everything. It could be worse, barking dogs all night..... ;) (I know we have all stayed at places where people's dogs have barked all night).
