  1. Sad to see that the Ozentries numbers again did not turn up in time.
  2. Surely there are many others out there?????? Please let me know I would like to make a complete list. Thank you to those who have already contributed.
  3. Some are still waiting for thoer Vic Dog. Great to see that some Victorian Clubs are supporting the Neuters!!!!!!!
  4. Yes I agree so many things have changed and not all for good!
  5. Thank you Jan for posting the Group and breed numbers. Looks like a great turn out! Good luck to all and look forward to seeing the results!
  6. I agree with you DG, collect the data and be informed!
  7. That is great news!!!! I have just had a puppy inquiry from a couple who live close to Albury. This couple would like to see some more Rottweilers and I suggested they attend the shows at Albury this weekend. So I would like to know how many Rottweilers are entered at the show and on what days so that I can let them know whether it is worth them driving to the show to see the dogs and speak with a few breeders. Can anybody help me out here if the Group and Breed numbers are going to be posted??? If not I will ring and speak with the Secretary for the information I am after.
  8. I have added to my original post. I will try and make a list of all breeds of dogs, there will be two lists. I need all your help to compile the list. 1.Those breeds that are required to test for ANKC litter registration and or to comply with club rquirements. 2. All other breeds that do not have to test.
  9. Thank you for posting the link for all the Group and Breed information. Sure is a great number of entries for both shows!
  10. Will the Group and Breed numbers be posted for this show??? I am very curious to see the Group and Breed numbers cross the show, I hope it was a super entry! This show is a great trio and I thoroughly enjoy it. I am so kicking that cat that I couldn't make it this year!
  11. Yes thank you Becks ;) I too know of a number of dogs with seriously high hip scores and they moved like a dream, were titled in the ring and lived to a ripe old age. So what I am saying just because a dog moves well and shows no signs at all does not mean it doesn't have HD or ED unless it is proved by xrays. I think as breeders, guardians of our choosen breeds, I think we have a duty of care to screen for such things as HD and ED regardless of the breed. IMO not doing so is an injustice to the breed and a breeding program. We all know that any size breed can be affected by HD and ED and I think that we should be seen to be actively screening our breeding stock and trying to improve our dogs. Having saying that I am not saying you should be throwing the baby out with the bath water, but to give yourself the educated health picture of the dogs that you use in your breeding program is to me the ethical thing to do. My breed has cut offs for HD, I agree with this. Sadly some beautiful dogs have been excluded from being eligible by these cuts offs, but that is the rules for State Club members (non members to do have to abide and can put any two breeding dogs together reagardless of scores). I do not wish to see the cut off reduced at this stage for my breed and would vote against this if a motion was moved to again reduce the combined score. Now I started this topic as I was gobsmacked that Danes and Bernese do not have a requirement for HD and ED screening here in Australia, this totally shocked me. I personally think all breeding dogs regardless of size should be screened but that is me. So hence I have asked the questions to try and get a broad range of responses from breeders.
  12. Further to Becks thread and the fact I have found out that some breeds do not require to be HD or ED scored and I seriously thought that they would be. Still shaking my head there! I would now like to know which breeds do not score for HD and ED. IMO I think all breeds should be scored regardless of size, small breeds get HD just like large breeds do. Thank you in advance for your imput! Please correct me if I have listed them wrong and please do help me to add to the list. I would like to compile a complete list of which breeds are testing and which do not have to. Breeds required to be tested for HD and ED prior to ANKC litter registration and or club requirements; Alaskan Malamute American Staffordshire Terrier Australian Shepherd (litter registration and club requirement) German Shepherd Dog (litter registration and club requirement) Labrador Retriever (litter registration and club requirement) Rottweiler (litter registration and club requirement) Breeds NOT required to be tested for HD and ED Australian Cattle Dog (not required, but most breeders do test for HD / ED) Australian Silky Terrier (no tests required) Australian Terriers (no tests required) Basenji (not required, but most breeders do test for HD / ED ) Bernese Mountain Dog (not required but most breeders choose to test) Borzoi (no tests required) Bullmastiff (not required to test, most breeders do test for HD / ED) Dogue de Bordeaux (not required, but ethical breeders are testing) English Setters (not required, but the Breed Club requires it) Finnish Lapphunds (not required, but the Breed Club strongly recommends testing prior to breeding) French Bulldogs (not required, some breeders testing for HD) Great Dane (not required but some breeders choose to test) Pomeranian (no tests required) Portuguese Water Dog (no tests required, many breeders are testing) Pug (no tests required) Pyrenean Mountain Dog (not required, only a few breeders choose to test) Samoyed (no tests required, 90% of breeders do test for HD / ED) Weimaraners (not required but many breeders do test)
  13. Ok I an even more gobsmacked! Wow, Bullmastiffs and Bernese do not have a HD ED xray requirement....... I am so very surprised that it is not a requirement, talk about your head in the sand attitude! I commend those breeders who do score their stock, you guys need to push for all the others to do it and get it passed through the ANKC to have it done for litter registration. State Clubs need to move a motion to the National Clubs to get it to the ANKC level for acceptance and to be implemented Australia wide. The Rottweilers must be scored for both HD and ED for registration of a litter. But under the ANKC there is no cut off on the scores. A cut off only applies to those people who are members of their State Breed Club/s and those Clubs abide by the maximum combined score of the Sire and Dam that it does not exceed 20, which is the National Rottweiler Council [Australia} guidelines. You can effectively put a dog with a score of 20 to a bitch with a score of 0 to comply with the NRC[A] requirements. The GSD people are and have been very serious about HD and ED scoring their breeding dogs and they are IMO to be applauded for their strict breeding guidelines. Becks I look forward to hearng more about the GS schemes that you come across, I know in Europe they would be scoring all breeding stock.
  14. I am gobsmacked that Danes do not have a HD ED xray requirement.......
  15. It is OK Andisa you have a right to be ticked off! None of us should have to worry that somebody may help themselves to our equipment, after all we are all there to show our dogs and enjoy the day out. Sadly though it does happen and sometimes a timely reminder makes us all think twice about where we leave our stuff. I am sorry that somebody stole your puppy pen.
  16. I am surprised that HD scoring is not a requirement for all breeds of dogs. Small dogs get HD just like large dogs. There are a number of comparison tables about, I would find one that relates to the GS. Hip scoring is subjective and I am sure you will get many opinions on this as well. Scoring allows you to get a bigger picture on the hip status of a breed and also family trees, but the information is only as good as the number of scored dogs in the system. Positioning is very very important for scoring. I don't believe in breed averages as being gospel, most dogs of any breed are not not scored and added into the system and the average is only worked out on the small percentage that are recorded so I don't believe it gives you a clear picture on the hip status of a breed, it can give you only an indication of those in the system. I tried to find the link for the Hip Score averages in Australia but I can't seem to find the link?? Somebody may be able to post it. It will be interesting to see others comments on this.
  17. Well what a worry to hear about Chase. I hope he is doing OK now and things are starting to get back normal. I have a question, what if the Superlorin was not available, what would have been the course of treatment?? I still strongly suggest you get Chase looked at to make sure everything is where it should be.
  18. Yep really some people well........... Best not write what I said when Andisa told me about the theft!!! I know Andisa was mighty mad about it when discovered!!! And I tried to calm her down when she told me. Seriously some show people really *&%$ me off!!! What makes them think they have a right to help themselves to things that are "left lying about" as they see it. We all know and or know about people who have had things taken off trolleys and crates, I do get a bit paranoid about about leaving things on top of my crate and or trolley. I know that Karma is a B*&%#, and that she will and does bite back!
  19. Congratulations to all the winners and grinners!!!
  20. Woo Hoo!!! Lucky me!!! I am looking forward to these shows as they will be last ones that I am doing for a few months!!! And to win the guessing competition is just an added bonus!!!! ( I never seem to win anything (raffles etc), it seems the tide may be turning!) I am a little excited about winning!!! Thank you to LKC, I am very much looking forward to these shows as well as presenting myself to the President on Friday the 12th to claim my prize! What a bonus for all exhibitors to have Breed numbers listed by Tuesday 2nd August. This I really like and would like to see other Victorian Clubs post this information about breed numbers. I know some of the NSW clubs do this and it is great to know your breed numbers before hand. A big thank you To Lilydale Kennel Club for putting on the show and giving us all a great panel of judges to show under!!!!
  21. Well it sure does sound like I had orginally thought, a pinched / restricted nerve and or muscle. I would be seeking out somebody who can help with that, as suggested. Even a good chiro could help you out as many do alternative treatments as well. As suggested ^^^^^ oakway could give you the name of one that you could see. I would be going down this path first before anything else, but that is me.
  22. Resting it will be much better and even subside, upon first rising and moving the problem area/s will be irritated and therefore his penis will swell and be enlarged. I have seen this before. I would be trying to see a Myotherapist and get him seen to to try and get him fixed up ASAP. For an understanding on Myotherapy see here I have seen Myotherapy change a lot of dogs who had been getting regulalar treatment from manipulators that have not been able to help with certain problems. Give it a go it won't hurt him and you might be pleasantly surprised, I know I was and so many other people who are now using them are. :D As for one in your area I am sorry I can't help you but if you were in Melbourne I could put you in contact with the one I use. Edited to add you might be very surprised at how much a dog will put up with before you see their pain.
  23. Hopefully we will have a litter of Rottweilers on the 16th September. All toes and fingers are crossed.
  24. That is a great price, which store did you go to?
