If what you have in mind is a lapdog who will alert you if anyone is near your house, i suggest a pomeranian . It is very fluffy and would bark at slightest noise. Its coat need constant maintenance though and during the pup early months, you have to train him not to bark excessively....or else....

    Biting Puppy

My vet told me a trick for my first boy. He said, whenever he nip too hard, yelp and ignore him until he calm down. His reasoning be that this is a pack-dog behaviour, in that they want to play but don't know yet the extent of their strength. yet When we or the litter mates yelp, it is telling him that his nip is too hard and result in us ignoring him. But again, you feel really odd yelping in the middle of the day...It does work though..my dogs no longer nip me... Another trick i heard is to nip the dog's ear. I heard it is very effective but i have no idea how willing you are to taste your furkid's ear. Cheers, Hellen
  3. Does your pup just want to play? She might be plain cheeky. However, I remembered somewhere that a pup will first try to push the boundaries of the older dogs, especially those who are smaller. How if you find a dominant dog like an alpha male who will tolerant her silly antics (as she is still in babyhood) but will not let her walk all over him? That might put her in place. Good luck!
  4. For me, if there is on-carpet accident (and as i'm living in an apartment, carpet covers 90% of the whole unit), i use Urine Off to get rid of the smell. Another thing that would make your house smell good is to use the carpet power when you vacuum. It sure give a fresh feeling. And for those smell-good-freak like me, i put the ambi pur in my bedroom.
  5. I usually give them baby powder or dog wipes once in a while, especially after a long run where they get sweaty or dirty paws. Never know if there is any doggie parfume. Do they smell really good? How long the smell lasts?
  6. I c. I thought only chicken bone will splinter! Thanks for that t time! I'll now have to strenghten my will to say no..haha
  7. H3113n, do you mean they use the toilet ?? or are they paper trained and use the toilet room. had visions of a dog sitting on the loo reading a magazine, Lol no no i have a corner of the toilet lined with papers. But i saw once that somebody sucessfully trained a cat to use the toilet and can flush. How wonderful is that? Sounds like the dog from Meet the fockers and Bruce allmighty...
  8. How about pork/beef bone? Sometimes i give to the dogs when we are making soups or broth. Do you reckon it's ok? I chose Eukanuba. The puppy small breed formula has really tiny pieces which should perfectly fit for toy group pup. It also has highest fat, which is what i'm looking for as i'm in the process of fattening one of my boy . But i've been hearing about eagle pack. Their kibbles are bigger but their holistic range seems to be good.
  9. Might be a little too late but you can actually trained the puppy to pee at command. Everytime you bring her to her potty spot, say the command word and when did their business praised them A LOT. Mine get it after a few days then you can tell them to pee or poo before going for a trip. Save accident along the way. Cheers! Hellen
  10. I live in a one bedroom apartment with no backyard (unless you count the tiny balcony ) and i have two dogs. Both are of toy group and they adjust really well. They sleep in the bedroom with me, toilet trained in the toilet, fed in the kitchen and go crazy in the living room. So far so good as they are trained not to bark often or loud. So no complain from the neighbour. Luckily there is a giant part across the street so i sometimes take them there to play but for excercise, just a stroll around the block satisfy them.
  11. How about a small breed pup? I have a very energetic 3 months old pom. He is so hyper that i take him for a walk around the block almost every night. If not, he will run, rampaging the whole house on his own accord. I live in inner city apartment, so he run round and round my living room, which is 4 x 8. After the walk, he will usually sleep for a while but when he wakes up, he's up to full power again!!! What should i do?? Oh and btw, the walk is not full run or anything. More like lead training.
