  1. Must be the day for it I roasted a piece of pork today & cut the crackling off & left it on the side of the plate. Popped it in the microwave to cover. Put it on the top while I warmed something & forgot. Angie must have jumped on the work surface & pinched it I found her eating the last bit on the lounge. Uggh all that fat, hope she doesn't puke.
  2. At present I have 4 week old puppies & my 3 month old Jag puppy Ricard. He has had all his vaccs but I am worried about walking him off my property with having the pups at home. Usually none of my adult dogs are walked while I have puppies, lots of space for exercise here anyway however he is at the age where he needs socialisation & taking out of the home environment. I take him to the local shops but carry him, lots of farm dogs visit the shops, & walk him on the lead in the front garden so he knows back garden is for playing, out of the gate is for lead. Am I being too phobic ? What do others do in similar circumstances ?
  3. That part always makes me suspicious. Why is the email address they used to post no longer available ? If they have just used it to post how come there is another email to reply ? Mobile phone number too, no home phone ? Be careful.
  4. Sad, poor puppy ;) Has your friend actually spoken to their vet to confirm this ? If not your friend should, if they give permission, the vet won't talk to them without it. I will not let anyone visit if they have been to another breeder, dog park, show etc that day. If they were at my door when I found out I would say they would have to come back another day. Your puppy will find the right home soon I am sure. There are some strange/stupid people everywhere its just a matter of sorting them out, hopefully before they visit.
  5. They will be fine. Dogs do eat worse things than butter, its not exactly poison, just rich milk. Too fatty & they will do a quick puke. Otherwise a loose poo or two. No panic.
  6. Desexed cats have always been allowed to be shown & I am pleased it is now permitted for dogs & hope it gains popularity. Showing is for many reasons, to promote the breed to the public, let them see the breed, ask questions etc. If it was only to find stock I would be glaring suspiciously at anyone who even looked my way
  7. I don't know. Doomed if you do take pup to the vet in some peoples opinion & doomed if you don't by others. I think you did the right thing, if you hadn't taken the puppy & it was really sick & died you would be blamed anyway. I would want any puppy I bred to be taken whether it was before I was phoned or not if there was concern. Due to the breeders attitude in response to your informing them I just would not bother contacting again. Politeness & manners cost nothing & make communication much easier & clearer. Hopefully your puppy will be fine & well soon & that is the most important thing.
  8. Nothing to be done now, puppy is here. Easy on the flea treatment. Chihuahuas can be very sensitive to some & have been know to fit when treated with some. Don't use the malawash. sp ? Maybe a warm bath in some Martha Gardeners Woolwash well diluted in a jug & then go over the pup with a human type nit comb & repeat in a couple of days. Puppy wormer like choc Cannex should be fine. Vet for the usual & help & advice is all you can do now.
  9. Inexperienced male may take a day or 2 to get her, which is fine, the fertile period is more than a day or 2. Some dogs are ready at day day 7 & others may not be until day 15, or unusually even later. I would not interfere in any way yet. Let them go together if both are willing, he is mounting & she is tarting up to him, so sounds good. Seperate after about 20 mins as he will get exhausted, then let him try again after an hour, then rest & so on. He probably just isn't hitting the spot but he will. As posted you won't see his penis at all until he has finished & withdrawn. Stay with them but let them get on with it. When he is in, hold her under the belly so she doesn't do anything silly like struggle & try & sit down or bite, & make sure neither pulls away from the other. It is not a problem yet, he just needs a chance to learn. After the 1st time they have no trouble at all.
  10. If you brush them daily or every other day it should only be a few minutes as they never get any more than a tiny knot, if that About 5 mins each for my toys, if that, only like brushing your own hair really.
  11. Be glad you don't breed poodles, it would break your heart. Pet shop favourite  Lots of little cavs in a PP I passed today with many oohing & ahhhing at the window. Felt like going over & saying idiots, where do you think they come from. All too sad but what can one do.
  12. Because the world has gone mad & people are becoming idiots. I give up after seeing this ad  Edited so source is not disclosed Yeah Stuff the School Holidays!!!!!.Buy a dog to entertain the kids.We have some for Sale.German Shepherd x $150.Pure Bred Border Collie Pups.$400.We Also have Two Pure Bred Border Collie Males for STUD DUTY if you wish to breed your Own Litter. Don't normal people go out & buy a video or game or something to entertain them.
  13. Any leads at all on this ? The news of Harry is everywhere. I live rural in a tiny place but there are posters up at the garage & general store & there are only 9 businesses in the area. Surely everyone must be aware by now. I just wish there was some news of progress. Someone, somewhere must know who has this dog.
  14. No May never know the outcome, acquaintance not friend I see. Don't think I want to know Mated to another rottie.
  15. I would have suggested that the litter is aborted immediately and the bitch desexed. Did that. It did not go down well.
  16. Bumped into an acquaintance & her daughter yesterday. Daughter says 9 year old Rottie is pregnant for the 1st time Said the pet shop told them not to feed extra or puppy food as the dog is very over weight. I said they are not vets or breeders so give it her in the last couple of weeks anyway as the risk of eclampsia & her going downhill is bigger if she does not have the extra nutrients required anyway. ? Doubt the poor dog or pups will survive it all. Sheer bloody stupidity
  17. Bed ripping, may mean she is cold ? Trying to re arrange bed to make it warmer. Excessive chewing, check teeth especially at the back of you can. Pinching anything to chew & relieve. Any new fosters ? maybe jealous. If she is usually good something is amiss, its finding it that's the trouble.
  18. It was well done. The main focus being on the footage shown & not so much on Chris Brown & too much talking, that people don't always listen to properly. It showed the true horror of it all. Although I have seen similar before I still had tears streaming down my face as I cuddled one of my 3 week old puppies. I don't care about the early desexing debate, mine will always be desexed before they leave me as no way on earth is any one of them ever going to end up in a hell like that. Still cannot understand how the RSPCA could not seize all the dogs ? Many animals are seized for much less than that shown but that's another topic. Hope this gets the message across to many more people.
  19. All the small fluffy breeds & poodle crosses have specific grooming needs. They are the ones ( the lucky ones ) that end up at the groomers matted to the skin because they were not told to brush them ears clogged up & infected because they don't know about plucking & cleaning, dew claws embedded in the skin, because they weren't removed or advised they were there & need a trim. All disasters waiting to happen. They are a business, they don't give pups away to rescue groups they just want their $,s. Good luck. Maybe go & advise them of the issues. They may pay attention by some 1000 to 1 chance.
  20. Discuss this with them first. 65 year olds now are not like they used to be 100 years ago, if they lived that long. Todays 65 year olds are often very active, healthy, patient, have time & have so much to offer a puppy. Try to steer them towards a smaller breed, not as strong as younger people to handle big dogs, less expensive to feed, less puppy destruction. I think it would be lovely for them but not as a suprise. Ask.
  21. many of these people that you are so happy to vilify as maniacs and power hungry beasts are just humans, who work everyday with animals because they love them and are just trying to do the right thing. they are often involved in the dog world just like you or me. It is true we have enough laws to deal with this but they are not enforced. Lots of wonderful, animal loving people do work & volunteer for the RSPCA but they have to do as they are told & sign a confidentially agreement, so some big shocks for many I guess when they are on the inside. It is the power hungry beasts in the organisation that are frightening & they do not seem to be answerable to anyone when they make huge mistakes & misjudgements in handling situations. Honestly don't know what the answer is to this problem but it does cause untold grief to many innocent people & still leaves many cases of cruelty & neglect to go on. Quite scary really & so wrong.
  22. My little girl was not happy in her 7 foot long puppy pen with a heat pad at one end, soft blankets on the pen floor & cot bumpers all the way around for her babies so I put one of those nasty cardboard boxes in one end with a bit cut out for her to get in & out. She was happy & contented then with her babies. :D Oh well I guess we can sacrifice in future for the greater good Great turn out & hope it helps the dogs that really need help & does not penalise the rest of us too much. Something has to be done, lets hope it is enforced sensibly.
  23. Hate seeing bad spelling so I was horrified to see that I did this very thing in a recent post. Couldn't be bothered editing so I left it At first I thought your post was going to be about people getting offended when anyone gave advice that they didn't like
