  1. I would just refund the purchase price unless they kicked up. The whatever to get the pup back. Idiots.
  2. There isn't one. Can't breathe is severe dog allergy. Can't breathe is also life threatening. Allergy is to hair, saliva & dander (skin cells shedding). Not shedding hair does not mean no saliva or dander. Allergy specialists help needed, not trying different breeds of dog. Trying different breeds of dog may mean lots of dogs returned or re homed.
  3. Recent info now says not to give calcium before or during birth as this can interfere with the bitches natural production of it. Calcium after the birth is ok if felt to be needed, but not as a matter of course.
  4. There are some vets where it all done on the premises. Better option for future.
  5. Only reason I get the vet to do them on mine is that I have seen so many in the fluffy breeds where the owner just forgot or didn't realise they were there & they grew into the skin. Very painful. Under the impression that the reason for doing dew claws & docking tails between day 3 & 5 was that the pups nervous system is not developed so they don't feel it ? If they are not removed properly, the whole joint, they will grow back.
  6. There are no animal cruelty or welfare laws in Japan, other asian countries & many countries all over the world. So why anyone would want to export an entire animal still astounds me. There is no guarantee or way of finding out what happens once it has gone. Culture is different in Japan so this is considered normal. Look at the whaling issue. I know someone who worked with pedigree horses there. Kept in a high tower block & rotated outside for them all but I doubt there is much you can do except make sure none of your dogs go there & keep out of pet shops
  7. Not understanding this ? Don't you have to have them microchipped before the DNA test anyway ? My poodles have to be before any PRA test. They won't do it unless there is a microchip to ID the dog. Overall I have no problem with compulsary microchip, I do it anyway.
  8. Poor bugger would get shot where I live if anybody saw it. Stupid idea really. I like foxes.
  9. This is interesting as she thinks she may be a cross between a stumpy tail, border collie, smithfield & maybe a bit of dingo mixed in. The history of where the litter came from is not known to the rescue centre...for some reason. I have been delving back into the archives or DOL for her & passing on the information. Does it matter what kind of dog it is guessed to be ? As a child & young adult I puked all over every car my parents had & all down the sides with my head hanging out the window Often before we got to the end of our road. On the bus it was a race after going so far to get me off quick. Sometimes I puked on the platform & then they had to get everyone off & send for another bus. Train rides were just as bad & I can still be sick lying on a blow up air bed in the sea. Plane was good Every treatment known to man was tried & all failed & I mean everything. It got less around 17 but did not go until I was 35 & started driving. Maybe it has got something to do with my breed :p ETA No one in my whole family is even slightly car sick.
  10. As I said, you don't stop doing one thing because there are problems elsewhere that are desperate for funding or attention. Just imagine the benefits of extra people being employed to collect and analyse, the extra training laboratory people will be gaining. Often scientific (and other) advancements are made because analists and scientists were researching something else. You have to look at the wider ramifications: you can't look at just what something might cost. You have to exercise your mental faculties and look further. We also have to stop looking at everything from and economic point of view. We are not an economy (but if you listen to politicians you would doubt it); we are a society, a community. Exercising my mental faculties further I think people could be employed doing more beneficial things for society & the human race than analysing dna in dog poo to catch those who don't poop scoop. We are a society/community but the money has to come from somewhere. Its not a bottomless pit or appears by magic so it should be spent on the most important things. So many of them. This comes right at the bottom of the list.
  11. Ridiculous waste of money, time & administration. There are people dying & suffering for lack of medical care, food etc. To go to such costly & time consuming lengths over dog poo is a sign of how society expects every issue to have a law/rule. It's annoying if its outside on your nature strip or you put your foot in it but we are not exactly knee deep in dog poo. Worry more about the toxins in the air you breathe or what is being done to your food, legally.
  12. As the seller of the puppy I guess you are the one that would have to deal with this. Given the initial complaint & refusal to return puppy, false information re urine infection & constipation & no feedback on the sore back, which they didn't tell you about, & obviously they did not go back to the vet again, you can check on that. I would not do anything. There is something you have not been told here + the lies. Whole thing does not sound right. You will never know why this puppy died & it is probably not available for autopsy now. I offer a really good health guarantee on puppies but would not be happy with this information.
  13. I would not be putting anything chemical on, which may aggravate more anyway, as well as being unsafe. She will lick cream off. Go through her coat bit by bit & ensure that fleas are not present, or in the environment. If its just one spot on her that is the problem bathe with warm salt water 3 or 4 times a day. Soothing, cleansing & completely harmless.
  14. My poodles don't shed but after clipping I have had to wash shaved hair out of my belly button in the shower
  15. Really She couldn't put her OH out to stud & get the fee some stud dogs get Remind her of that just to annoy her more.
  16. Obviously your children have to have friends visit & sleepovers are great fun. My daughters chihuahua ( long gone now at 16 ) turned into psycho dog at a few years old, for some unknown reason. We just put him away when children visited. A bit easier with a tiny dog but as long as you & your family feel safe dealing with her & she is not a risk to the public re home or put down is not needed really. You just need to figure out a fool proof way of securing her. I would not muzzle & have her around everyone. May make her feel helpless & stress or get more aggressive. Sometimes there is no answer or cure. It just happens & no one knows why.
  17. Cost is reasonable. Some states are cheaper than others & town or country can vary the cost too. If those are the 2 dogs in your signature I would not think a once a year shave would be enough. You can always trim then shorter with scissors if you have any skill as opposed to clipping as long as you brush & comb them regularly & properly.
  18. Oh this is a tricky topic. While my heart goes out to those with pets that have to rent I can see the landlords side too here. Trouble is it is so hard to remove bad tenants pets or not. When someone has worked so hard to get their investment property they have the right to choose the tenants they want. My daughter rented her house out this year. Big animal lover & owner but she did say she didn't mind a cat but knowing how irresponsible people could be with dogs & new polished floors, pool & beautiful garden she would not trust them with a dog. She got a cat for her 18th birthday & has rented some crap places in the past just to keep him with her, cat is 11 now I did tell her to be a little more lenient depending on the dog but knowing how hard she has worked & gone without so much to get this far I can see her point. I don't see how this can be done. It has to be voluntary ? Laws would be so unfair & shrink the rental market.
  19. What a nice man. Sometimes people just piss me off the way no animal ever could.
  20. I never introduce a puppy by just bringing it in & letting it loose with the other dogs. Mine are used to pups as I breed & an accepting breed. Always have it sat on my lap for introduction & pen in the living area so they get used to each other first. Out loose under supervision & a watchful eye. Play can turn rough in seconds even with friendly dogs. Pup has to learn the boundries & they can be pushy pests but best to wait until its not newly into your dogs territory before you let them get on with it.
  21. That was so tragic. It made me The suffering was horrendous. I didn't realise the effect snail bait has until I saw this. Why does anyone use it, there are other natural methods.
  22. At least there was the sense to see that she is not a criminal & not record a conviction but it is still an outrage. To have to pay the cost of the dogs care when they were not at risk & should not have been seized, removed & held at all is the unjust part. Watching RSPCA Rescue on TV the whole of Australia have seen animals in far worse condition left with the owners in less than ideal conditions. This was all a point of principle not cruelty.
  23. The shed. Could have been any crap or residue in there. Snail bait in yard unknown ? Snake bite ? Small bite for 1st one, snake still around & bit the 2nd one properly. Sad but doubt they will take proper action to find out.
  24. Chris Girling (Noahs Crossing), Lewsiton, he is a breeding specialist, only 30 minutes from Adelaide. My best recommendation too. Always very happy with them.
  25. In Adelaide China Town has them & some of the asian gift shops. Try there if there is anywhere similar in your state.
