  1. Ridiculous quote. Your puppy can be taken to the airport by the breeder or your husband to be put on the flight. I know if you use some companies they have to be there personally to lodge the puppy & they do charge you for this as well as for the flight, so that is more expensive. Maybe phone Virgin, I use them most times, & ask for a quote then if you are happy with it book the flight. Remember that you must use an airline approved crate so check that.
  2. tragic Check for rat/mouse bait too. More likely with the plagues of them. My neighbour put those square poison blocks out once & when I let my dogs out one ran up to me with one of them in her mouth. The rat must have either dug under the fence with it & dropped it or gone up the tree & dropped it into my garden. It was right next to the fence.
  3. The use of the words product & stock would also put me off very much. I would not deal with anyone who referred to their dogs this way. Yes I am knowledgeable about breeding & breeding dogs are pets too. If I wasn't computer savvy & this was a template I would either find out how to change it or not use it.
  4. Your question is Now my girl has had one ceasarian is she likely to need another one if I breed her ? Yes ? There is no way of knowing. She may be absolutely fine or she may not. If you do decide to breed her & she has to have another one then desex her.
  5. Its a baby. It hasn't had time to settle since Sunday, its only Wednesday, it still won't know where it is, whats going on & where its mum & litter mates are. Of course it doesn't want to be outside alone. It doesn't know whats out there, where it is & wants you with it naturally. Give it chance to settle in & gain confidence. Crate or not doesn't matter. Crating is the modern fad, pups still managed to live with people without crates. Warmth, comfortable, feeling secure & well fed & time is what it needs. Especially time & most important lots of cuddles of course.
  6. Are you using the Advance rehydration dry food & adding water ? If yes I would stop using it & get some canned puppy food. Advance make one. As they can lap they should be able to manage to lap some canned food mixed to a sloppy paste with their milk. Less concentrated & less likely to constipate. Divide the recommended daily amount of milk feeds into say 3 hourly to start & see how they go Cut the amount of milk if they have some canned food but offer a small drink regularly. http://www.bonchien.com/feedingschedule.html Above link may help
  7. There is no need to do anything, certainly do not take the water away. Pups should always have access to drinking water. You can't control everything or need to know why unless it is a big problem or dangerous. He is playing, just let him. If he starts tipping it all over constantly get a bigger & heavier bowl.
  8. While this would go a long way to solving a big part of the problems I can't see anything in there that excludes breeding cats ? So as it is, it means basically the end of all cats as pets in the long term. There will only be feral cats left that have escaped ownership & bred in the wild.
  9. The cost of an ear flush at the vets is not very expensive. Not more than $200, from memory so I guess the MRI must cost a bomb. No time to get another quote I guess. Good luck.
  10. As a poodle is a breed that has to be bathed & groomed more than most I would not be using a spray bottle of water on him. You need him to like water & be comfortable with it. Not to associate it with something bad or punishment/aversion. Find another method. When pups do this I turn my back on them & ignore it & keep turning if they try & get in front of me. They get bored & give up & go away.
  11. Maybe the grass tickles her bum. Is it long ? It may be better for her to use the concrete if you are fussy about your grass. It goes brown & dies if the dog keeps peeing on it. If it is long anything could be hiding in it too, especially in heatwaves. Concrete is easier to poop scoop & scrub clean. Maybe not helpful. I hate grass. Can you tell ?
  12. I asked this on a cat forum & would like to compare answers with what I get here on a dog forum. As experienced breeders will know puppies can be born head first or feet first. No big drama usually but when the body is out & the head is still inside one assumes the head will come out with the next contraction & it usually does. My question is this If the next contraction does not follow quickly how long do you wait before you take action to free the puppies head ? One minute ? two minutes ? three minutes ? I am not meaning the dog is contracting & head is stuck. Or that the dog is struggling. The action in that case being to help head out with contraction. I mean the contraction has not come. Body out, head in, contractions stopped. How long do you sit & wait ?
  13. If her pain threshold is Zero its best to do it yourself. Use a soft slicker brush. Buy a soft one & try it along your own arm & on your own head to see how it feels. You also need a metal comb with short teeth spaced close together on one end & wider apart on the other. Stand her on a table or the same place every day & brush & comb to train her. If she is difficult a coffee table placed in a corner is good to start. You can block her escape attempts with your body & if she does she won't fall far. If you are handy with the scissors there is no reason why you can't trim her short all over & trim around her feet & under her tail. Small dog is easy to trim neat. You just have to train her to stand still & accept what you want to do. Otherwise buy some clippers & learn to use them.
  14. Hmmn might be an idea if he does it again, I really wanted to hit him in the face myself but I didn't think it would help the situation and I might get charged with animal abuse. Man I was beyond furious though. He is a dog. They pee on things sometimes or at certain stages. They are not all perfect. I think you have a "thing" about it. Slight over reaction from the above. While its not acceptable to pee on people he is not going around like an elephant hosing the population at large with his trunk. Its happened twice under the same circumstances. Teach him one word that means toilet, mine know piddles. Then when he sees someone to greet you say no piddles, or whatever word, to remind him. Or keep him on the lead to greet people & remind him, no piddles.
  15. We would still be able to import & export frozen semen for the dogs so although it may become more of a rich persons hobby if the unlikely ban did happen all is not lost. It would be awful for pet owners moving countries though. It won't happen. The governments (whichever it is) can't seem to organise a piss up in a brewery really. Too hard for them.
  16. Maybe there is a dead body buried in the wall on the left hand side No idea as I sit here with 5 dogs in the warm room. 4 comfy beds & an armchair with a blanket for them so why are 4 squished in one bed ?
  17. Sad. All dogs should be on a lead in a childrens playground no matter what size, breed or how well trained. Sad too that she said it wasn't a staffy or pit bull. Bad media stuff certainly gets believed. I don't know much about pit bulls, never met one, but every staffy I have ever met has been so people friendly. Wonder why the dog attacked. Owner must have trusted it to have it loose there, one would hope, stupid as she was
  18. Not fair on the dog if its not wanted by everyone in the house. It isn't your house & this could cause trouble. If there is any trouble the dog is the victim. Just wait until you can get your own house then you can do & have what you want.
  19. No one can answer your question really. Speak to the people & if you don't want the dog say so & ask if they will refund your money. If its the health issues you need assuring on discuss your concerns with them. We can only say what we would do, not what they will do.
  20. Depends how often they have the fits & how badly. We had a dog that had his 1st fit at age 2. He keeled over in the garden with me there & I thought it was a spider bite. Got him in the car & then he just came good Happened again about a year later & the vet said it was probably epilepsy. He had about 2 seizures a year after, not enough to keep him medicated for in the vets opinion. He lived until he was 16. We just left him inside in safety when we went out just in case & comforted him through the odd fit. Not so bad once we understood it all. Healthy dog otherwise & came good quickly after the seizures.
  21. Office of Fair trading is fine but what if the outcome is that they must refund her money & she must return the goods ? Best check this out first. If your friend can manage the money side fine but it will be an ongoing thing for a long time & other problems may crop up later, which will be more expense & more heartache & maybe pain for the dog with a bad end result. May be a better option for pup & owner to PTS now. Don't mean to sound horrid but it may be kinder all round too. If the family bond with puppy & lose it later & all the money they have got in debt for
  22. Doubt it would do any harm & it will leave your hands lovely
  23. Little dogs are a bit slower to toilet train generally, but not always. One thing is that people expect it to happen almost instantly & sometimes it can just take a bit of time. Those that crate train say its instant but that's not a way I like or would do. The puppy needs to know what you expect & where to go so you need just the one word that means toilet for wees or poo. Put puppy on the pads or grass or where you want her to go after food, when she wakes up & maybe every hour at first & say the toilet word. When she does go lots of praise & fuss. Takes a while for some but dogs are smart, she will get it eventually. If you can leave a pad that she toileted on down so she knows the smell & goes there again. You want to remove the dirty one & put a clean one down I know but sometimes this helps for just a few times.
  24. A healthy animal won't starve so obviously she is feeling crap. Probably all the anaesthetic & sore too. 2 days isn't long & its a shock to the system & scary too for the dog. Warmth, somewhere she feels safe & a nice selection of various tempting foods within easy reach & she will eat when she is ready. If she doesn't drink anything that is a worry, straight on to vet.
  25. Not sure about this, as I haven't used it but others have. http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php She may be a 6 on this test, which may explain some. Other thing is check her hearing, may be faulty but not stone deaf.
