  1. If she is bleeding it is not the right time to mate her with the male. You have to wait until it stops & she is into the next phase for her to be fertile. Progesterone test at the vets if you are not sure when she is ready.
  2. No the rangers should not take the dogs off them. These dogs would probably be taken to the pound & PTS. The person who has lost everything loses their friend & more. Go back & find them & take some food for them both if they are on your mind.
  3. This is not quite accurate. Of the dogs that are not claimed by owners far more than 33% are euthanised. With cats the figure is much higher Its a business. They do not make money if they spend it keeping animals until they find a home so a few are chosen & many that are not old, sick or unsuitable are disposed of. It is mass slaughter really by a so called caring society & absolutely disgusting. I am not sure if I agree with this or not but something needs to be done.
  4. I have had so many cats & dogs desexed & have never needed a collar. Leave it off if he isn't bothered.
  5. I wouldn't force him to wear the coat if he objects that much. He may damage himself struggling to get it off. Amazing how they can half strangle themselves on nothing much. Maybe just more bedding that he can burrow into.
  6. I doubt that there is anything wrong at all as he has been a normal healthy puppy so far. Some are just slower to wean that's all. Maybe try a different food & warm it a little first. Don't know what pink slushies are however much as they are not what we generally like commercial canned food is usually loved by most dogs. So try a little puppy can & see what happens. Nothing lost. Then if he eats that & weight stabilises add the slushie bit by bit. They must have some secret, evil ingredient  I have had kittens turn up their noses at sirloin steak & eat whiskas happily when weaning
  7. Not so bad getting the dog back. Saved lots of hassle. Could have been worse. Bit confusing for the dog though & you will have to keep strange dog away from your mum & puppies too. Maybe she will stay with you, fate works in mysterious ways. Breeders terms are not usually the best idea. Lousy way to find out.
  8. You have to go through small claims court. Its quite simple. Go to your local magistrates court & ask them how you proceed. Meanwhile keep a copy of all emails, a record of all phone calls & if you ask for payment of the pup give a short time frame. Then say you will be filing in court if the time frame is not met. May be best to try & get the dog back. You need to get it sorted before the girl is in season again. They may want to breed from her & keep the litter, papers or not.
  9. Fantastic news all round. Love the photos, so beautiful. Keep us updated.
  10. When you are about to give someone a haircut & you pull out the chair & say SIT. :) In a nightclub for the 1st time in 15 years & standing back analyzing the mating ritual of the species like David Attenborough. Craving chocolate & you almost grab a dogggy choc by accident. These are my latest 3 of many.
  11. Any vet can DNA your pups & dog its a simple swab test but is quite expensive. Here is a link to a cheaper place. They send you the swab kits & you send them off or get your vet to do the swabs if you prefer but you do all the paperwork. http://ingen.bs/
  12. If you can pop pup in a fair size laundry or safe uncarpeted room when you are out I would forget crates & pens. Main purpose or pens/crates to me is for safety if I can't watch them. The theory of crate for toilet use is that the pup can only lie down/stand up/turn & thats it. The theory being they won't soil their bed & will cry to go out. I think pup may soil bed, especially if you don't hear it & let it out instantly. Not the way I would want to keep my pup but thats the theory. Little babes need to pee a lot, especially small breeds. Fake grass, puppy training pads & newspaper are all aids to teaching the smaller ones that can help. Enjoy your pup & use methods that you feel comfortable with, one pup is easy Multi dog places & breeders may have to do it differently.
  13. No idea however it is not an invasive, painful or expensive procedure so if it helps to find it before surgery that has to be a good thing.
  14. No, not safe & may catch something, boarding is risky enough however I never board my dogs but things may have changed now. Boarded my entire Dalmation boy some 30+ years ago. They said he was stressed so they put one of their own Dalmation bitches in to keep him company & he was happy then. My previously sexually innocent boy was renamed humpty dumpty, he got company alright & I bet he was happy.
  15. i cannot understand why almost every time a child is bitten by a dog it makes the media ? Given that children get injured for so many reasons & in many different ways I wonder what actual percentage of injuries that children get hospital treatment for are caused by dogs ? Playground injuries & burns are one big cause I do know but we never see a media headline saying Child gets attacked by giant slide because parent was not in control or similar. Not as sensational I guess.
  16. I am getting so fed up of all these proposals for useless new laws aimed at dog breeders, responsible pet owners & now they are being aimed at property owners too. Why are the general public not being educated to the fact that You get an animal, you are responsible for it. It is your responsibility to choose it, research its breeder, health & history, house it, feed it, train it, see to its health, keep it safe, stop it bothering other people, get help with any behaviour problems or learn to live with them. People would not breed if there was no demand, its the I want it now, its cute, I fancy it & its disposable attitude that is the problem. It is not a breeders fault, the licence fee paying pet owners, the governments fault or a body corporate or property owners that people dump their pets in pounds. For some there is no other option, as in death, severe illness etc but most do not need to be there. When a person works hard, buys a home & pays for it if they want to rent it out it should be their choice to whom they rent. It is their property. Everyone seems to get blamed for this problem except the people who put the dog & cats in there in the first place.
  17. Sorry, the rotating ads at the top of all the forum pages. Where it says view all advertisers underneath it. Just above.
  18. Unless mum really & obviously welcomes the other dog I would completely seperate at this age. My dogs & cats go into isolation away from other animals with their babies for the first couple of weeks. They hate having to be on guard, its less risk of any infection & less stress. Sometimes I keep a litter in the lounge but keep the other animals out, sometimes it may be in another room, it is manageable. I think they need to bond with their babies in peace & I don't want anything to upset them in any way. Some dogs are fine with this but many are not, mine are fiercely protective even though they are all friends other times. If you are not sure don't allow it.
  19. The one that says that you must put the microchip number in the ad if you are selling dogs. Most misleading as this only applies in Victoria. Yes I know it says this on it but has anyone even noticed that ? It says Victoria in another colour in writing that is miniscule & sneaked in there or is it just my eyes ? Many people glancing at it would think it was Australia wide.
  20. You can go into Big W & put your own photo onto their computer & order many gifts with it on including mugs. Easy.
  21. Sounds desperately hungry. Replacing a little of the meat with grated carrot is another weight loss tip plus adding more water to it. Warm the food before feeding. Makes it more appealing & gives a sensation of fullness for longer time.
  22. As awful & ridiculous as this is I can see something similar happening here in the future. One of the comments posted below the article started with this Hope its ok to post, its just someones opinion One honestly has to wonder what cabinet-level officials, indeed, what a government in any country, not only Hungary, has to do with the status of a Kennel Club. These are private membership clubs with their own internals rules, structures and finances as well as their own international institutional associations and standards Government interference has already started here & look at Crufts now. If it was a club or show for paedophiles or some other inhumane, disgusting purpose I can understand government interference but its a dog club for goodness sake. The world has gone mad.
  23. Yes. Crows are rife here. My dogs hate them & bark when they land near my chickens. They will scavenge on anything they can get. They actually circle their territory in a given time frame & leave a watcher bird guarding. Very clever birds don't under estimate them.
  24. Office of Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs will be the quickest action. Pups are classed as goods by law. Get them to have a chat to them first so they know their rights & then relay this back to the breeder with info on what action will be taken if deposit is not returned. Its most unreasonable not to return deposit under this circumstance.
