Well its TV programme & they would have had to have the pug owners consent so they are hardly likely to say You stupid person why did you let your 12 year old dog get pregnant especially if it had difficult times in the past & of course you have to hand raise the pups, it is your responsibility & what any breeder does. Yes people do make mistakes, we are all only human. It does annoy me though when they try & blame someone else if they are the one who made the mistake.

If the dosage the vet suggested would not have harmed the cat I fail to see how the vet is responsible for the owner over dosing ? If the vet had prescribed drugs at the surgery & charged for this the owner may still have over dosed the cat & the cat may still have died. The fact that the vet had been in court for misuse of drugs or whatever re her addicted daughter is not relevant to this. No one can judge on that part unless they walk in her shoes. It is nothing to do with the cat owner making a mistake with dosage.

(I know it sounds silly because he's only 9 weeks now but he's starting to scare me!). He will bite onto our clothes, feet, hands and not let go whilst growling and barking.. he is also aggressive and growls when he plays with his toys. Is this still a normal puppy thing?? This part bothers me a bit. The biting things & growling isn't aggression its how puppies play & express themselves. You are going to have to let him know who is the pack leader & where his place in the pack in your home is. While this needs to be firm but not harsh or cruel how are you going to manage this if you feel fear of this baby already ? Your puppy is acting like any normal puppy & training is not an instant thing, its an ongoing progression & also depends on how your pup responds & matures. Some pups are silly for a long time & then suddenly a few months later it just all clicks in. You need to address your own fear & lack of confidence or you are going to find coping with a dog too much. Get some help but do consider all training advice carefully. People vary in their methods & there is no only one right way. If you feel uncomfortable or that it is wrong do not use that method. Basically the dog needs to know what you expect & want it to do, or not do. If it doesn't understand it can't obey.

x2 x3 & on every other site too. How are people to know about & find canine association registered breeders if they don't advertise & leave all the back yard & unregistered breeders to cover all the internet advertising.

If you can afford it they should cope fine, better & less stress than being left behind. I would be more concerned about finding accommodation with 2 dogs than the coping part. Have you looked into this ? Hope its more dog friendly than Australia.

Not safe to leave a puppy outside alone while you are out. Anyone could pick him up & steal him. If another dog got in pup can't defend itself. Cold & bad weather now too. He should be fine in the crate if he has to be in there otherwise can you not make a room safe like the kitchen or block off a hallway or something. As long as he can't climb or get to any wiring he should be safe in a puppy proofed room. Years ago we didn't use crates & our pups were fine. We just shifted anything we thought they may get into mischief with.

Can Same Gender Get A Long Or Need Each Gender?
Christina replied to ChewieTAG's topic in Puppy Chat
For the last 20 or so years I have kept around 5 or 6 dogs & have honestly never found gender making any difference at all except with undesexed males together. If the dogs are desexed I doubt they are conscious of being male or female as they don't give off any hormonal smell. I don't think they duck down & look for boys bits, or lack of to determine sex of each other. I have kept litter mates the same age, combinations of male & female entire & desexed with little problem. I do find I cannot keep 2 entire males together once the reach puberty but that may be because I have entire girls around. As long as the dogs know the rules & who is boss I don't think the sex matters at all with desexed pet dogs. -
That is exactly what I was thinking. 4 times the dose of anything can cause major problems with people or animals. There is a big difference between .05 & 2. They don't even sound alike so mishearing that would be weird.

Too Far You Have Taken This Dog Grooming.
Christina replied to MrsD's topic in General Dog Discussion
Absolutely ridiculous to me. The dog would have to be trained to tolerate it & would put up with it, dogs do as they are told are trained to do even when they don't like it & I can't see it enjoying it. A good brush, a clip & a blow dry done gently may be of some pleasure but hanging around wet with bits of hair divided & spending long periods being positioned this way & that would not be an enjoyable experience with my knowledge of grooming dogs. They do get tired & not like long, drawn out work done on them & this would be very prolonged & awkward for them. There is a middle line between neglected & groomed to this extreme. -
While this may not have been done in the right way at least if someone is looking for a dog & this site comes up they will know that there are registered breeders of pedigree dogs too. As we all know the term registered breeder can mean registered with the council & many people don't know the difference. Unless the site says anything detrimental about pedigree dogs or gives out stupid information I wouldn't worry about this. Almost all breeders can be found on the internet anyway.

Council have a right to enter your property/land but RSPCA have no legal powers to enter without a warrant. Useful info on your rights in link below. UK based but same here. http://the-shg.org/Basic%20legal%20advice%20for%20pet%20owners.htm

Providing Assistance To Bitch During Whelping
Christina replied to Pockets's topic in Breeders Community
Always there but only intervene if it looks needed which is rarely. Bit phobic about them being in the sack for long once they are born so will rip open to free the head if it doesn't happen in about 30 seconds. The only thing I find I need to do often is to move the already born pups so they don't get squished when the next one is being born. Can't take them out of the whelping box as the mums hate that when I have tried it. Mine birth pretty easy & know what to do. Can't say the same for my cats. One gave birth & ignored the baby, never even glanced at her back end. She was delighted once I had done the cord & cleaned it & given it to her. She did the same with all 6 kittens. She was an excellent mum once I handed her the cleaned up kittens. Left alone I think they may have all stayed where they were in the sack & dead. She is to be desexed soon. -
Attempted Dog Kidnapping, Aldinga Beach
Christina replied to Mrs Rusty Bucket's topic in In The News
Its horrific that anyone would stoop to such levels to get dogs. Why would anyone be so desperate to get them ? I hope they catch him. -
Does he only go on the rug ? One of my old girls never makes a mess but if I put a tiny rug down she poos on it too. Possession, marking it hers for the others to get the message I guess. If its just on the rug like mine does just don't have a rug.

Does Anyone Want A Sketch Done Of Their Furball?
Christina replied to corie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Love the drawing of Zoey. Fantastic -
Really good butcher on Theberton Road too near the Brickworks. Oganic meat & discount on bulk.

Fantastic. I often wondered if all his trauma had shortened his life.

I also think of him, especially with the recent puppy farm raid here. More Leos & in there

Rspca(sa) Formalises Agreement With A Rescue
Christina replied to RuralPug's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Great news There has not been any working together before & the euthanasia rates are so high. There are many good people in rescue & private individuals here in South Australia who would love to help & take an active role but they either haven't been allowed or have not been happy with their volunteering. Hopefully things will change & the animals will benefit. -
Seems like people have rallied around with lots of offers so far Gives me some faith back in the human race which seems to go absent when hearing of things like this.

Not the usual situation here in Adelaide at all. Something on tonights news about it. Quick newsflash said 100 dogs & cats were surrendered to them from an Adelaide hills puppy farm. No other info as yet. Not sure if they are full up or just want them held somewhere pending prosecution. Sad situation for the poor animals.

Peeing Inside For First Time In 11 Years
Christina replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
A belly band is a strip of stretchy fabric that fits around the dogs tummy & covers the penis. There is a space in it to place a pad in case of accidents. They are used for dogs that are marking territory or incontinent in the house. -
Peeing Inside For First Time In 11 Years
Christina replied to White Shepherd mom's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would chuck the carpet out now so the smell will clear from underneath it too. Also block the room off from him for a couple of weeks so he doesn't get into the habit of peeing in there. The longer he does it the harder it is to stop. Consider a belly band too if it won't distress him too much. -
Guess another lesson to be learned is Don't call the council or RSPCA unless the animal would obviously be better off dead. Who ever knows what the sad & tragic outcome can be & it doesn't seem based on any common sense either.

Risks Of Un-descended Testicles/de-sexing
Christina replied to Justrace's topic in General Dog Discussion
There is also the possibility that the bitch may get to your dog. Some girls are like that. I have one here I would get the operation done soon. Less stress on the dog younger & it has to be found.
