I received my new clippers in the post this week. Have only just sat down with them to read the instructions and have a fiddle. The booklet says that to change the blades, you just press the grey button and slide the blades away from the machine and to do that when the machine is off. To put them on, turn the machine on and slide them on. I have pressed and pushed the grey button, but I'm not having any joy getting the blades off. Is there something I'm not doing? Is there a secret technique that I just don't know, or should I be back in touch with the seller?

I will add a little plug here for Clipper world. I bought a set of the Wahl KM2 from their ebay site on Friday. It arrived yesterday! I bought a package that had an extra blade (size 5) and size 10 blade. I also got (and wasn't expecting) a pair of scissors, another size 10 blade and a bag to store all my gear in! Very quick service and freebies I wasn't expecting. All for only $235! (+$12 postage)

Thanks for that. I bought the clippers from Clipperworld, thru ebay. Got a package, so I'm pretty happy. Just got to wait for them to arrive now

I have just purchased a set of Wahl KM2 clippers, which will come with size 10 and size 5 blades. (To replace my ancient thrive brand, which I can no longer buy blades to fit - only occasionally on ebay and then it's a lucky dip) I have noticed on a lot of sites they also sell after market ceramic and duralium (sp?) blades for much cheaper. Are they any good? Or should I just stick with the brand name blades? thanks in advance.

One of my dogs absolutely LOVES cat biscuits, so much so, that he will run in to eat that rather than go on a walk. Ordinarily a walk is the most exciting thing in the world, but if he can get to the cat bowl, he has to be physically dragged away for a walk.

Sure will. Walking distance for me

Hi All Just to let you know that a new grooming salon has opened up in Kippax. Noticed it there yesterday when I was getting fuel in my car. Went and had a look. They haven't really opened yet, just had doors opened yesterday, but they don't yet have everything in. There was quite a big range of dog "clothes" and a few other bits and pieces. They don't have their baths in yet, but they will be having Do it yourself hydrobaths or pay to have your dog groomed. They anticipate that they will be fully functional by mid October Not sure of pricing as I was just having a quick sticky, just thought I would let those in the Belconnen area know that there is a new place to check out. It is in the arcade up towards the Caltex service station and West Belconnen Leagues Club. No idea what it was called

Thanks everyone. I know there is one at Hume here and I think there is another one at a carwash somewhere on the southside. It might have to be a weekend expedition. they are only little dogs, but both have long coats

I've never used any of the do it yourself type places, and was just wondering how they work? Do you just turn up and use them? Or do you need to book? Do you need to take all your own gear? Shampoo, conditioner, towels etc? Or do they have specific stuff that you need to use? Do they have dryers you can use too? Do you pay for a certain amount of time and just add more money if you're not finished, or is it a fixed price? An idea on price would be nice. I normally just wash my dogs in the bathroom (or a babys bath outside in summer) but I only have a normal hair dryer, which they hate, so I was thinking of using one of these if its at all practical.

Wow, a few days away and the thread has blown out to 28 pages! So many great photos. Well done everyone  Think I've left my run a bit late for this month, so I'll just enjoy everyone elses.

Sorry. It's so long since I've had dogs that steal washing off the line. There was a stage where we never had had bed linen that was more than about a month old

Entering a bit late, but here is my first, daily, mundane task and one of the culprits (okay, so this is about 3 days )

Eden is a beautiful place worth the trip just to go there

Bodalla is down the Far South Coast, in the Eden District. Hours away from Canberra

Beg I know I did two Bs, but I meant to do this one as my B. The balloons just happened (The second shot shows what a dreadful catch he is - he never manages to get one in his mouth)

Balloons Its the hot air festival in Canberra this week. If I was serious, I would actually get up and go to their take off point at 6.30 in the morning. But I'm much happier for all the dogs in neighbourhood to let me know when they're here ;)
