Name:Lauren Age (optional):29 Location:west Syd Rescue Group: DCH Time in Rescue: just under 2 years Who can vouch for: LMWS, meganm,liberty-(Paula),dogmad, (theres more but surely that will do?) Preferred Breed: Puppies (mainly because i have children), also small breed dogs, sooky shy dogs. Have to be ok with other dogs. Oh who am i kidding i don't have a preffered breed/type lol. It's more like a preffered temperament. I like (and my own dog prefers) the quieter gentle ones.Sooky shy affectionate dogs. I have a new found love of great big gentle dogs Bull Arab types, and white dogs with pink mushes Experience (if any): Just personal with my own dogs. Had cattle dogs growing up she whelped a few times (yeah i know but i was a kid i had no say in it). I allways had to get them out from under the house and took care of them. I worked in a grooming salon years ago (like 10 years ago). Have allways picked up strays and tried to help them and injured birds. Microchip- yep Vaccination- yes Desexing- yes Heartworm test -pups dont usually need it but if need be yes. worming-yes flea treatment-yes vet work if required- of course basic training/teach manners yes house train dogs- yes , easier with floor boards Dogs inside the home or outside - both, mostly inside Are you prepared to give extra care for a submissive nervous dog -yes provided they aren't fear aggressive. Oh wow Hi Karma long time no see Congrats yourself! I can vouch for Karma wholeheartedly. She takes wonderful care of her animals. Been to her house, seen her yard- all good.

I have a foster pup around 4 months old she's a Chiuhaua x very sweet loyal, very affectionate and snuggly. She is generally very well behaved. I had her in my front yard the other day for the first time and she barked at every single person who walked past her and cars going by! She would not bite anyone and when approached by my neighbour she continued barking but the closer she got the more coy and waggy tailed she became. I was really surprised by the barking as she is so quiet in the house and the back yard. Does anyone know why she is doing this? And more importantly does anyone know how i can train her out of doing this? Thanks in advance.

I don't know why i do this but for me it takes a little time for feelings to sink in. I bottle everything up untill i can't contain it anymore. Today i am feeling really bad like a delayed reaction or something. Yesterday a dear sweet neighbourhood dog was hit by a car in my street. She only lived 10 houses up and her owner was allways out had very very poor makeshift fencing. I had her at my house several times the first time was last christmas i posted about her on DOL. But a few days later her owner came knocking at my door. It was very traumatic to see her lifeless body on the raod like that. I was praying it wasn't Zoey but it was. She was a really really special girl. I would have adopted her if he didn't want her or couldn't care for her any longer I miss my poor darling Daisy i hope Zoey is up there with her and can be her friend. Daisys bed still smells like her and her blankets it makes me happy and sad at the same time..i don't want to wash them. I kissed my girl honey so many times last night i think she thinks i have gone mad. But i look at her 9 years old and i know i won't have her forever either. And when you see the lifeless body of a dog you love it makes you realise alot of simple truths. Like just love them as much as you possibly can , don't rush through your days so much. The lifelss body of a dog i love is void of the little spirit that i adored and even though i try to have faith i still feel bewildered that she is gone. It's like she dissapeared and i am left standing here not knowing what to do..

Here are some more pictures of my Daisy girl snuggling up to my mum on the couch She was such a big sooky bear .. I miss her so much. Last night i made her dinner for her without thinking and then i realised what i was doing :D I hope there is a doggy heaven she more than earned her right to be there. Does anyone know how i can have this thread moved to the Rainbow Bridge Forum? ETA Thankyou so much everyone who posted for your kind words and support..

I just spoke to the vet they have advised me to have her put to sleep  She has been fitting too long apparently and her chances for recovery are slim :D and that her chances of being brain damaged are very high. Poor sweet Daisy. I found her about a year ago maybe a little more. She was on the road side and i drove past her with my mum. My mum talked me out of picking her up at first because i am 'allways' picking up dogs... But the next day she was still there. I believe someone had dumped her and she was still waiting for them to come get her. By the time i got round to trying to get her into my car she was on the main road. She was so terrified she would not walk up to me on her feet. She would only crawl to me on her belly. It took me two weeks to get her to stop crawling to me with her chin to the ground and about another month to get her to stop rolling over the second i approached her to pat her. A lovely lady from cattle dog rescue put her on the website for me and i found her the perfect new home. But sadly she would not let him approach her she was so scared as he was a very tall man. I could get her used to people after a while but she allways remained afraid and hand shy So she's been with us ever since. She was the biggest sook in the world. She though she was a puppy and would lay across your lap belly up. She was more like a polar bear. She was great with my fosters especially the puppies. My Sweet Daisy. I don't understand why she had to die in such a horrible way. Why do dogs have fits??? I just don't understand :D

I've never seen anything like it her legs are all out straight she can't walk she was flipping around like a fish out of water. The vet said she could have brain damage from fitting so long. I just want to know what the odds are for her recpvering and not having serious problems afterwards  :D she wouldn't let the vet near her she was barking and screaming:(

My dog is having a fit!!! She is at the vets right now they came and got her about 10 minutes ago. I am SOOOO worried! By the time the vet arrived she had been fitting for 20 minutes!!! Why has this happened??? She's normally very healthy and strong as an ox never had a problem ever not a single thing. Can she recover from such a prolonged fit???

Fine healthy as can be, he's 9 years old but as fit and energetic as a 2 year old. So can a dog just have an isololated seizure and never have another and be totally fine? -
My friends dog just had a seizure his head started turning in an awkard position and jerking and his front paws were curled up and his back legs were going straight and stiff. It lasted about a minute or 2. What on earth causes seizures in a dog? Should we worry? What needs to be done now? Will he be ok? HELP! We thought he was going to die.. !

Actually i do remember him Wizard1 i was at Renbury one day when he was still impounded and i was shocked by his condition and also relieved to see that he had animal welfare league written on the front of his cage. He was so sad looking when i saw him. I had no idea what had happened untill now. He has a lovely expression on his face he looks so gentle and lovely. It's sad that he had to suffer and get the point that he was in such bad shape but fitting and just that he got to spend the end of his life in comfort and peace and totally adored. What angles you are. I know how sad it is when i dog dies but i think that he couldnt have had a happier ending he got to know what real love and care was before he left this earth and isn't that what we all want?
