  5. I have a big yard lots of grass..I bleach and hose the conrete area twice daily. But i wonder if i shouldn't treat the grass somehow to kill any worms or eggs that may be living in it. Do you (or anyone) know if there is such a thing?
  6. Where do they come from i mean before they get into a dogs body? Do they live in the soil? I have had lots of foster pups come and go alot of them have been wormy. Of couse they are wormed but i just wondered can they leave any behind in the soil? I don't have a proper understanding of how they are aquired in the first place and if its possible that my grass can have worms or worm eggs in it? If that is a possibilty how do you get rid of them in your grass? I worm my own dogs and fosters regularly but is this enough?
  7. The little scruffer had to be pts last night she started fitting
  8. Has anyone here had any experience with it? At what stage of the illness is it untreatable? There is a dog currently at my vet she's a lovely little dog came in with a leg injury that was treated by the vets and had to have two toes removed. She got through and recovered from the surgery really well. It wasn't untill yesterday that she started showing symptoms of tetanus. Right now her ears are in a weird position her jaw is semi locked and her eyes are slanted. She hasn't had any seizures. They are able to get her to eat when they place food into her mouth and she's still rolling over for belly rubs the poor dear sweet girl They have her on antibiotics right now. Is there any hope for her? Has anyone seen a dog at this stage of the illness pull through? (She is homeless and is going into foster care if she makes it.)
  9. My old girl has a couple of fatty lumps , i have had them checked and they aren't dangerous but it was over a year ago. I noticed last night that the feel of these lumps has changed they are harder now and feel like a seriers of smaller bumps within the lump. Can fatty lumps turn cancerous? Is it normal for them to change?
  10. I actually wasn't expecting him to be clipped so short! It looks realy strange lol his tail is still full and he has this little puff ball on top of his head and a very, very short coat everywhere else. His coat looks and like a cornish rex cat's lol.
  11. Hmmm i might take him somewhere else next time. Can anyone suggest a good grooming salon in Western Sydney?
  12. I just got my boy back from the grooming salon. I had him clipped right back for the summer and because he was getting a bit beyond shaggy. He looks lovely if not a little girly with his blue bows lol. Anyway, why is it that every time i have him groomed he comes home and drags his bum along the ground? He has been wormed and his anal glands have been emptied (or whatever the proper term is). Does anyone know why this happens?
  13. Haha yeah i know thats what i said to my mum it looks like it was done on purpose lol. I am glad it will wash out, i thought for sure it would stain. wagsalot Toby looks like that all the time! lol He has this funny look in his eyes and he allways looks you right in the eye. It's almost spooky. I never have any trouble getting a picture of him, he allways stands still for pictures and waits (for pats or food or attention of any sort lol).
  14. Toby just came in from having a romp outside. I called him to me and he now has puprle streaks on his head! Lol and his pads are purple and he has a few spots on his back that are also purple. He has rolled in the Mulberries off my big old tree out back  He is normally a very pretty apricot colour. Is he going to stay purple? Is there a way for me to wash it out? The flash makes the purple look lighter than it actually does in person.
  15. I think my girl is dominant but in a passive way if that makes sense. She will only tell a dog off if they push their luck but so far i haven't let it get that far. She play bows to him a couple of times but he seems unsure.
  16. My dog Toby does this thing where he sniffs Honeys butt and starts to lick it (eww i know lol) then decides he might like to hump her. They are both desexed but it looks like he wants to mate with her. As soon as he looks like he's gonna hump her i distract him and take him away from her. Is this Toby trying to be dominant over Honey? Or is it possibly that he's just randy even though he's been desexed? If i let him continue would my girl Honey have a go at him do you think?
  17. Thanks for all the responses Lili thats what i was wondering actually as i have a foster comming back as an adult who may be either fostered or rehomed to a family who has her sibling. Depending of course on how they react to each other.
  18. Does anyone know if two litter mates are rehomed seperately and then re-introduced as adults do they remember each other?
  19. thank you so much for all your advice. I am gonna give it a go. I will post his picture up when i'm finished
  20. I don't have one but i am going to go out and buy one shortly to see if that makes it any easier. I'd just have him groomed professionaly if i could but nobody can do it like right now lol. Lol poor boy hes so good he just lets me brush him and fiddle around trying to get his fur untangled.
  21. I just realised i should have brushed him before washing him  He has a fe knots around his neck where his collar was that i am having trouble getting out with a slicker brush. I can untangle them with my fongers a bit but its tedious. Does anyone have any advice as to how to get them out? Thanks
  22. I have someone comming to adopt a Cocker x Poodle today and i bathed him about an hour ago and he's still so wet. I have towel dried him over and over. Is it ok to use a human hair dryer on him? Like if it's not too hot? I can't let him outside , learnt that the hard way last time when he decied to roll in some mud and poo  I have a heater on but he won't stay in front of it of course. Any ideas? edited for spelling
