Can anyone recommend where i might find a suitable Rotti?

I can't* post questions on the specialist working dog forum.. blah.. Yeah i still like the idea of a Rotti

Hmm.. ok. Well i mainly wanted a Rotti because i like the temperament and i have children. (plus i just love big solid dogs ) But i mean what are my options here? Rotti, Dobe, Shep.. are any other breeds accepted as security dogs?

Thanks guys for all the info.. I will take it all into account. I want to learn as much as possible so any and all advice given is greatly appreciated. I also like Dobermans.. Do any of you think a Dobe would be good for a new dog handler?

My personal preference would be a Rotti but this may change with experience. I have no experience other than obedience and working with rescue dogs for about 6 years with differing levels of issues and raising litters.. not sure if that counts. I am really keen to learn and become a competent handler. Ihave to start somewhere experience wise so i'm willing to do whatever it takes.

Nek.. where would be the best place to buy a security dog? And can you offer any advice on how to choose one?

Hey all, i am about to do a security dog handlers course and would love to hear what it's like for anyone else who is currently employed as one. I am wanting to know if i need my own dog or are they generally supplied for you by the employer? I think i'd prefer my own dog so if thats the case where's the best place to get one? We have seen a vet and she thinks it is likely to be a haemangiosarcoma but of course we have to have it removed and lab tested to be sure. But something about the way the vet looked and spoke after she saw it tells me that the prognosis is not good I'm very worried She says if it is a haemangiosarcoma then it could have originated in his spleen but we wont even x ray for that until we know for certain that it is a haemangiosarcoma. It has bled more since my post and is looking worse and slightly bigger which the vet says indicated that it could be an aggressive form of cancer. If it is, number one it may not show up in his spleen x ray right away but still be there, but either way the prognosis isn't great. He's my boy. A very gentle loving dog I will keep this post updated from time to time just in case anyone else here browsing has a dog with a similar problem.

I noticed a lump on my boys "scrotum" a few weeks ago but it was small so i thought maybe he had just injured them playing. However tonight i noticed that it is bigger. It's very red and lumpy , no hair on it. I have taken a picture with my phone so it's not the best pic. I was hoping someone here might have some idea of what this could be cause it doesn't look good but i've never seen this sort of thing before so i'm not panicing . (And yes he will be seeing a vet). Thanks in advance ;)

Yup I got me a gorgeous Bull arab boy called Bully we adopted him from Renbury this time last year. He is the most gentle adorable creature. I call him my big big woofie in a stupid voice Candy is gorgeous! I will find a pic of my boy shortly and post one
