  1. So have you been to the Dept of Fair Trading or taken any other advice that's been offered to you?
  2. 3 girls & 2 boys all shades of cream, 1 boy with a chocolate face. Will post pics next week
  3. As a breeder, I would strongly recommend that you not take the pup until it is 8 weeks old. The fact that you live close by has nothing to do with releasing a pup early. The last week with its mother is a critical period in development & learning for the pup [from it's mother].
  4. As of yesterday we now have 5 brand new L R puppies
  5. The buyer selection process is only part of the process. There's got to be a genunine commitment to train the dog with the ability to handle the dog. A 40 kg dog on one end of a lead with a 45 kg handler, doesn't really work well all the time.
  6. If you read the Breed Standard posted by Troy at the top of this thread, you will get some of the answers you are after. They are very good with children but young kids need to be educated about dogs and how to behave with & around them. Most dogs like exercise & this breed can be pretty active. Most dogs like the company of other dogs especially of the same breed & Lagottos are no exception. They cope better if they have another dog to play with. Lagottos can be trained to do a lot of things including retrieving & tracking. They can do well in agility trials and the obedience rings.
  7. What would you like to know? J
  8. good luck on the litter, LOL another pup for me to handle and for me to teach you to handle them for shows I thought you had enough to keep you happy
  9. M Good to read about Charlie on this thread & to know he is going so well. You're right about the need for socialisation, they really do need ongoing contact from day 1 otherwise a whole range of problems will follow. We'll have a litter on or about 7th July. The last litter of 9 had 8 boys & 1 girl & we're hoping that this time the numbers will be reversed. J
  10. Does it? I just find it easier to start when the dog is young. I personally think the trick is to find the thing that switches your dog on. Whether that's a toy or food, and in one case I had a dog that just went crazy with purely verbal praise I agree with that.
  11. The focus training needs to start when the pup is very young. This link might give you a few clues http://www.schutzhund-training.net/obedien...%20Heeling.html
  12. I'd be sleppy too if I ate a whole possum
  13. crate the pup so it gets plenty of rest. If you have other dogs don't let it run with them, swim the dog.

    Crate

There are good crates & some not so good crates. Our dogs simply bend the wire in the Chinese versions, slip the locks then walk out. We now buy SAVIC crates. Strong metal & dog proof locks. Excellent quality & good value for money
  15. There might be more interest if there was an indication of pricing
  16. if she did it as an adult would no doubt come across as aggressive and get her into strife. That's not really correct. It's YOU that ends up in strife. Going to an obedience class once a week is not going to solve the problem unless the exercises are practised continually to reinforce what's learnt.
  17. I'd be waiting until I got the xray results back & then having them independently read. Too many vets recommend surgery too soon & I'd be listening to & acting on the breeder's advice!
  18. The squeaks arrived last thursday & I've been testing 2. One on a 9 month old male & the other on an 8 year old female that's manic about destroying toys. The male wanders around with is most of the day with it in squeak mode. The female has not destroyed hers, at least not yet. They were worth the money. These 2 love them. I'll try other squeaks now on the rest of the pack
  19. It can't be the only dog club near you. Join another one.
