Constant Barking - Neighbours Complain - Help!
LilBailey replied to KatLek's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Although it is a nice theory not to stress to soon, things can get pretty nasty prety quick. Our Neighbours dog barks all the time [even when she is home] and she was the first to complain to the council [not even to me] Then my lovley little jrt decided to visit the neighbour over the back who is elderly and scared of dogs. the council ranger decided that instead of taking him to the pound she would go though the gate and put him back. Our border collie cross then procided to try to eat her because she was behind our gate when we wern't home. We had only recently moved so the dogs were not registed at this address. To cut a story short our 5 dogs became 3 our border is registed as a qld healer. They now live in our Double garage so that no one can complain. AND I still have to listen to the dog nextdoor bark it self stupid. Sound more like a winge than any help but from experiance other nice neighbours don't mean much when you've got a nasty one. [our other neighbours are great next door and across the road ect] Dpo the best you can as soon as you can because as the old saying goes " When I do good no one remembers. When I do bad NO ONE FORGETS" -
I recon that fat dog would make a good door stop. she has the butt fo it!!

Nsw Rotti Fun Day - Not So Much Fun
LilBailey replied to Jefe's owners's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Would I be correct in sayig that we can thank Hugh Werth and his band of merry men for a lot of this prong collars are bad. It's kinda like blamming a breed for being a problem not the owner, blame the collar not the d*** heads using them. -
My jack has the same food obsessive problem, Including the 'Iwon't move if you don't have it' thng. I got around it by holding my hand 'like' it had food in it and getting him to do something, then the reward in my hand was a pat and a good dog. I ask him to do a few things [even just basic like sit] and pat him after each then take him to another room or place to give him a treat. A handfull of bits or a bicki. He's pretty good now when I want to teach him something new or if he is in a brat mood I show him the treats and then take him away from them so he knows that he WILL get them once he works. We still have trouble when other people are useing food because he thinks that he should get it too. eg Flyball he gets a little distracted by every one eles feeding when he is running. The other thing that you could try is clicker training but spend a bit of time teaching him what the clicker is and that the food will only come AFTER the click and it might be a little while after the click. Lenghten amount of time between click and feed slowle. Some one that knows more about clicker training could explane this better.

Told you guys we were Western WINNERS Geelong....Bring it on!!!

ray is boxloading for croyden wonder where his loyalty's lie..... There won't be a break out. Been told that diggers have a much faster seed time than us any way so the break out will be a lot faster than what we put in. I'm guessing about 22.5 secs. If maggie elvis and bailey where all in then maybe. You must just be able to smell our victory.

2T you won't win we have maggie the super dog and elvie too. By the way for those people that are coming on the weekend.. I'ts 10 am and 7 degrees at the moment

Maggie got 166 her best ever. She got a bit distracted by the dumb bell being threwn in the next ring and forgot to move off with me. Instead she sat next to the steward in the figure of 8. I think that Bailey was just too cold he spent the whole afternoon curled up on Josh's knee playing playstation. [My boys and htere video games ] Nice pic of Maggs by the way

The black lab could be either fergus, henry, cameron or beccy.....Too many black labs they all look the same to me

Herding Trial At Lancefield
LilBailey replied to Sparty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports

I Used to work in a boarding kennel that is owened by rotti breeders. They used to do all sorts of things with there dogs. I did not agree with sutzund either untill it was explained to me properly. I read a training book about it and acuttully found there methods to be a lot nicer to the do than thoses of my previuos obediance club. As for finding pictures and decent info try the boxer club. If they cant help you then try one of the others such as the rotti club or the dob club

hay not all small dogs are slow although i cant really speak for the agility people i would have to say that if your slightly crazy then flyball would be the sport for you. secondly see what you dog prefers. i started with algilty and my dog was good but he payed to much attention to the flyball training than he did to what obstical was next. it only took one go at flyball to see what he wanted to do. Im sure that any club would let you have a try of each and then decide later what you wish to continue with. I do agree though that if you decide to both then train one first then add in the second other wise you will be trying to teach two things at once witch may confuse the dog. once it knows one training in the other will just be another thing to add to her list of achevments
