  1. One of my whippy girls have been sneezing these few days. She has a coat on at night and I have checked her regularly and she is not cold. Anyone has experience with that? What should I do?

    Run free Harvey.
  3. i am so sorry to hear this sad news, Fifi. He was a lovely boy. RIP, dear boy and run free...
  4. i agree with that. Many people, including ourselves, cannot understand how dogs can get along for a long time and yet fight. It is just a change in the pack order or a slack on our part being disciplined in enforcing our leadership. we are currently working towards regaining our leadership in this "pack".
  5. My two girls had a nasty fight on the eve of my birthday. That resulted in stitched and a few large open wounds and two dogs that are afraid to be in close proximity with each other. the first thing i did after rushing them to the vets is to contact an animal behaviourist who is coming out to see them tomorrow morning. It is going to be a long story to describe what happened. and I guess i am just too emotionally tired to go into that. i couldn't sleep well these few nights. i cried and blamed myself that has happened. it felt like such a heavy load in my heart. i rescued them in hope to give them a better home, not to leave them with such physical and emotional scars. if you have experienced that before, how did you cope with it?
  6. I buy raw roo mince (for pet consumption, not human consumption - it says on the packet) from Pet Cafe. I freeze them when I get home. I thaw each packet and finish using the meat within 2 to 3 days. Sometimes the meat starts to smell before 3 days, I would discard the unfinished packet. I supposed that is alright?

yup, i will do that. No playing with Moo Moo at all, Monday cut them loose ;) She should be pretty much healed stitch wise by then, if she stays this good till Friday, she is curled up on my chair given up stopping her jumping up she pretty much steps up anyway so no harm is coming to her stitches :D she must be really enjoying it, curling up on your chair. nice and soft.

she is very vocal. in her sleep, she will whine and whimper. and sometimes an odd sigh. i wonder what she is dreaming about. but i am sure she is all comfy with you. i am sure she remembers your place even though now she can barely fit in her crate. :p Pics shortly, she has settled right in and is happy, my two are kind of wondering how she got so dang big ;) she just kept growing and GROWING.. there was no stopping her. it was good that I got her a huge crate. now she is bigger than Moo Moo and she is only 6 months!!! ;) maybe she is a whippy X... a little naughty devil!!!

when you pick her up this afternoon, she will tell you all about how the vet has treated her. i can tell she wasn't impressed. she is a cheeky girl indeed. but i am glad it went smoothly.
  15. i am having a similiar problem as well.. read my other thread in Training/Obedience titled : Rough Playing

Yeah... am trying not to think too much about it. Just that I have heard scary stories about desexing. The rescue group that we got her from is picking her up and keeping her quiet for a couple of days so that she can rest and recuperate. They are very nice to do that. I can't do that at my place. Too much fun distraction for her and she would not be able to be kept quiet. hopefully, i can visit her tonight at the carer's place.

  18. I have got 2 whippet girls. One is 3 y/o and one is about 6 months old. the pup loves to play with her bigger whippy sister. mouthing the older whippy's neck and legs. all these while, the pup's tail is wagging. the older whippy tries to get away when the pup mouths her neck or legs. no growling at the pup. however, when the older whippy turns around and wants to play with the pup, she is pretty rough on the pup. chasing and pushing the pup against the fence as they play. sometimes the pup's tail is between the legs. occassionally, i feel that the pup is actually afraid of the older whippy when she is playing rough. and a couple of times, the pup gets cuts on her legs from running away from the older whippet. i am worried that the rough play may turn into a bad accident. should i be worrying? should i interfere? how should i deal with this?
  19. oh poor Hannahh... i am so sorry... RIP you little boy Digby...
  20. My three (greyhound and whippets) get washed once a month. They are outside more than 8 hours a day and that is why, they are a little more dusty than usual.
  21. yes definitely going to try that. She has learnt to sit and stay at the other side of the gate before coming into the house. but will put the lead on her to make sure she understands following my lead instead of running off on her own. she is generally a good pup, just getting cheekier...
  22. In addition to what everyone already said, why not teach them not to go upstairs. Call them to you ask them to heel and walk in the house with them. yes, I am in the process of getting that "problem" fixed. The little puppy just runs upstairs everytime she goes past the doors. Must be the toys upstairs. I will try taking some of the toys and putting them downstairs and attracting her to play downstairs before I am ready to bring them upstairs. right now, calling her does not make her stop her tracks and come back to me.
  23. Thanks Tony. If I hide somewhere (still able to see what they are doing) and makes a really loud noise when they make physical contact with the lounge, does that work the same as with the rope?
