Hi am looking for a local handyman to reinforce the bottom of our fences in our large back yard, it has dog fencing but the chihuahua's can get through it and want to get it fixed, if anyone knows of a local who is reliable please let me know thanks. We are just thinking of putting chicken wire or similar bottom bit of the current fences.

More Questions About My Foster Boy - Huey!

I am just sad that rescue in Qld is going backwards thanks to unethical practices, I fear that something worse will happen, they have a save everything policy no matter what the health or temp of the animal in question, its a accident waiting to happen. If it hasn't happened already. A dog they had listed on Petrescue worred me last week Sharpei x Cattle Dog food aggressive and small dog aggressive but was great with kids, I hope the kids don't go near the food bowl! -

Maybe they can't get enough dogs out that they deem on death row from the local pounds, I am pretty postive they wouldn't be getting any from Logan the founder has picketed Logan Pound re the UQ of Qld and Logan Pounds association and just put up a link to a Animal Rights page on the rescue facebook page, that would limit them to maybe Ipswich and Brisbane pound up here? Ipswich thankfully is about to be partnered with AWL Qld who will be working at the same facility Hopefully I will be able to do a bit of volunteer work when we eventually get back to Ipswich. I don't believe they do any quarantine before transport they deem quarantine as having a parvo vac at the pound by the looks of it. They posted the other day that had over 100 in care thats a lot of dogs for a new rescue. Just to add the UQ of Qld have a great rehoming program a lot of the dogs and cats that do go to the UQ for vet students to learn on some do get rehomed. -
Moved House - Vicious Dogs As Neighbours
SueM replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
I ended up having to move after the incident as the dog that killed mine was declared dangerous, I told the pound I did not want her put to sleep was not her fault it was her owners fault the dog was never socialized and never left the yard, they became so abusive after the incident every time I walked outside I would cop it as they had to reinforce the fence. My gosh they sound just like my old neighbours! -

Get your new fence done as soon as possible, all it takes is a couple of loose pailings, I left it to late and one of my dogs was taken. -

Very true this group in question is only a couple of months old, only started when the Qld floods happened, sadly they do not want to listen to anyone they know it all and I can't see this attitude changing, can see it by how the foster carers they currently have are commenting on the facebook page, we are all stupid and they know everything, no hope. -

I am open to correction on this but there was a DOL username of ARQ down the bottom earlier when someone commented on the rescue group reading the thread but not sure as they have 1 post here and seem to be pulling dogs from Blacktown Yes ARQ they get dogs from Blacktown. -

Its just common sense to tell all foster carers not to take new fosters anywhere public for at least 7-10 days, the only time we did not do this was if we had a dog surrendered to us privately with a full vaccination record. I read that people only had a foster for 2 days and she was worried how it would act at New Farm Park, they have to adopt better practices or any reputation they have will be gone fast. The dog world can be a small place. I can't post this on facebook or I will be banned also quick smart. When I started a rescue group I was attacked here (not that any attack is happening here) as they thought I was rescuing dogs to breed with, but instead of getting upset I explained what was happening and all was fine. If they keep deleting and ignoring people it will only hurt them. Oh another thing people can lie on online forms, re adopting and fostering you have to visit with foster carers, not just let them pick dogs up from the pound and hope for the best. -

Nothing is harsh when putting other people's dogs at risk, if these people who run this rescue group are so experienced they should know better, sorry if that is to harsh. I think I know one of the founders, did she work at Logan Pound? -

Re the post a couple back still nothing was said hateful on either facebook page, yes I saw deleted ones also, its just concerned Experienced dog people worried that dogs are not being quarantined before going to public places. Oh and by the way Kissindra is an experienced foster carer she fostered dozens of dogs for me. -

It seems everything is falling on deaf ears I feel so sorry for foster carers who are not informed and just members of the public. How many more will of contracted Parvo I am sure many more will come in the following days. -

Correct *name removed* Go Bindi! I know there is always big questions about responsibility when a case of Parvo happens, after four years in rescue, I'd suggest the finger pointing is unproductive and is really a circular argument. I'm happy to have the conversat...ion about Parvo transmission via phone if someone is concerned, but truth is, it is a hideous illness with a long shelf life in soil and dogs are moved and taken into the public domain all the time who are not vaccinated. Reframe this and ask who, what, where gave this poor pup a dose of Parvo, not who Bindi possibly gave Parvo to. And Thank Dog she is with a No Kill rescue group.
