Thanks that's a good tip he is inside most of the time, will do my daily walks when the sun is out :-) I am trying a change in diet as well, he could do with losing some weight.

Thanks :-) He had the general health blood test as well and had everything checked. As well as the seperate Phenobarb one :-)

His liver etc checked out fine, he is overweight, due to the meds he is on to control the epilepsy he is hard to get weight off. I had a good google but lots of different opinions, the vet rang me on the phone with the test results and I didn't really get a chance to have a good chat to him. I just looked at the kibble he is on and it is certainly not the lowest in fat, as I only recently put him on that it may not be the right thing to feed him. it's the first time he has had this show up in blood tests he gets them twice a year.

My 8 yr old chihuahua had his phenomav levels checked and also a general health blood test, he suffers from Epilepsy and the blood test showed that he had higher than normal fat in his blood, time for a change of diet? he also hadn't eaten before the blood test, he had the test first thing in the morning, at present he is on the VIP no grain dry food and a bit of natures gift canned.

Oh I was wondering what would happen if complaints came in about the Rspca, so AWL would come in? I wasn't aware they had cruelty inspectors in Qld, I know they do in NSW.

Will have to wait and see, I am sure eventually it will all be made public. AWL have always had a fab reputation up here :-)

RSPCA did a full inspection of the premises while AWL were still on site and it passed with flying colours. if the problems are management based change management I would of thought. Would be fab if council pitched in a bit and built some new cages etc as well, quite happy for my rates to go to that, rather than rebuilding a park that floods every year and needs another few million thrown at it.

Very true, the staff are all in limbo, they still have mortgages to pay, let's hope the decision comes sooner rather than later.

I just visited the shelter, I hope that the AWL are back soon.

The rspca were waiting at the gate to go in as soon as awl were finished.

A petition is also going over a 1000 signatures already and a Facebook group has been set up. If I thought for a minute that anything was going on I would not support it, but I know that all the staff took great care of the animals, treating the sick and nursing them back to health with a great network of foster carers. it will be a massive shame for the animals of Ipswich if they do not come back. We all know how tough that temp test of the rspca's it to pass, none of my dogs would have a hope in hell of passing.

The AWL chose to treat cats with cat flu and not put them down, it seems that is an issue with some.

Mita the AWL have upgraded some facilities they now have very nice adoption pens and a large state of the art air conditioned adoption cattery, the pens shown in that awl story were quarantine cat pens they the Council built.

He is the Councillor that is on the board of the rspca.

The poor staff having to load all the animals they love up into vans, it must be awful, what I can not understand is if the RSPCA passed the facility why move the animals, why not come in and manage the place with the current staff until its resolved, the RSPCA must have a dozen staff on standby to take over shelters, it all stinks.

How's their kill rate? I understand that they do cooperate with rescue on occasion? Not as good as AWL, hope this is just temporary.

Thats what I am thinking, if it is LDH then I know what its all about money, another of the complaints were cages were to small , Ipswich City Council's own cages!!! AWL have built a huge cattery and adoption pens and worked so hard since they took over, now over 10 staff are in limbo and without jobs.

Apparently another service provider is coming in, that is unknown as to who it is. but the AWL are trying to rehouse to make room still for the 140.
