Harvey is still fine nothing since the 26th of dec def not heat related he has had both of them when its been quite cool, he got promoted to class 3 at dog obedience last night and should be trialing in around 6 months He is going well on his meds def better since I split them into 2 doses morning and night Both his seizures that I have witnessed one was when I was driving him to dog obedience a cool night and the other when I had another wee dog here and they were playing...

I have 2 dogs,Ally my older girl doesnt require any daily training, Harvey I train for about 20 minutes a day and obedience class, once a week at this stage, he should be graduating to Class 3 tonight all going well ps they are Chihuahua's...

Lure Coursing is great fun and a good doggie day out, the one at Brisbane is well run and my little fella loves it

Harvey is still fine, still no more seizures but his last one was the 26th of dec and he was having them a month apart so its a waiting game I suppose, he is much better since I have split the meds into 2 doses, I can not notice a difference in him he is always full of energy and tears around playing with my current foster dog...The only think I have noticed is an increased appetite....
-
Hijack away Harvey was having them a month apart, so I wont know if I am on the right track with the meds for at least another 2 weeks fingers crossed...
-
I have split wee Harveys meds into a quarter at 8am and quarter at 8pm I was finding the meds was making him a bit to sedated when having the half in the mornings, well more sedated than normal he is such a lazy bum anyway
-
Kym male pups especially bounce back very quickly, ask them to give him his pain meds when he is getting desexed,he will be fine I have many desexed doing rescue work and none have had any problems, its a simple procedure, I agree it is hard to stop them tearing around, maybe get a elizabethan collar for him I bet he is the sort that would try and tear the stitches out if he can, and try and stop him jumping which will be hard I know, keep him on a lead as much as you can that may help....ps he shouldnt need any medication after surgery....ps they will clip a small area as it isnt good if hairs get into the surgery site....Just remember no baths until his stitches are out and no playing in puddles

Scarlet naughty naughty, Harvey is awoken at 8am every morning now, But then he goes back to sleep
-
The seizures he has had have been in the afternoon....
-
Thanks for all the advice, the medication doesnt seem to be effecting him at all so far, after he comes out of a seizure he just goes and has a sleep for a few minutes and is back to normal, ...nothing since the 26th of December but I suppose I wont know if its working for a few weeks yet....
-
Cavnrott wont know for sure if the meds are working, its a waiting game to see if they control his seizures as he was having them a month apart but so far so good
-
So far so good with the medication, I havent seen any side effects so far with it
-
Thanks Caseykay, re dosing him I checked the pill container and it def says once a day half a tablet so will start with that I suppose and see what happens....
-
Hi he has started him on a dose of half a tablet daily still not sure when to give it evening or morning as he said it could make him sleepy,he said to see how he goes on that and also he may be able to come off it in 12 months if all is well....Thanks for all the advice and well wishes, still not sure when to give it arghhhhh decisions decisions.....Have decided on morning doses will give him a small meal with it and see how he goes......
-
Hesapandabear he is still his cheeky self, hopefully it won't hinder him continuing with his lure coursing and obedience....

Hi their after viewing the video my vet is confident that it is early onset epilepsy, he is starting him on the drug you mentioned Puggles, now deciding what time to give it to him as it has to be given the same time every day, he is confident that as he had them a month apart that it rules out a lot of the other things it could of been, so we will take regular bloodtests once he is on the medication for a while.....My video thing on my camera doesnt have sound but no he makes no noise at all during them....
-
he has a vet appointment at 4 today so hopefully my vet can help with a diagnosis, pretty sure blood tests will be taken...
-
He has had two episodes identical to each other now a month apart and a very mild one a week ago not even sure if it was one or not so I will pop him off to the vets tomorrow....Thanks for watching it gives me an idea of what he could have hopefully with medication he will be ok,even diet can be a factor as well I was reading so will change that a bit as well....
-
Their are so many things that can cause them it is mind boggling, not knowing his history as he is a rescue dog makes it even harder....
-
here he is I would like opinions from people that have dogs that have seizures, its not nice to watch but at least now I have something I can show my vet tomorrow....Just before the seizure he was running and playing with a little dog I am babysitting, pretty much when the video ran out he recovered quickly had a quick nap and is back to normal again....
