  1. Mini would be a good tracking dog if she weren't such an airhead.
  2. Plenty of people make wild accusations without a shred of proof. It's a waste of time for the people who receive the complaints. I would hope with the seriousness of the topic that people would have proof before they complain. That's all.
  3. I didn't even know I could do this. I thought she had to remain on the NSW register because that's where she was registered.
  4. I've seen this photo before except it was labelled as a pitbull.
  5. It does behoove the owner to make an effort to update details although admittedly, some do make it hard. It's easy with CAR. You just update online. The NSW one on the other hand has no online database nor it seems any forms for an owner to update details. Same with the ACT for updating details. In NSW, the owner can get Form C3A from any Council to update their details. The NSW registration database is restricted to "Approved Persons" (councils, RSPCA, AWL and veterinarians who have applied to be an "Approved Person" and nobody else can access the database because pet ownership details are deemed "personal information". Which is jolly good for those lIving in NSW but for those living outside NSW with a dog on the NSW register, it's not so convenient. I can make a trip to Queanbeyan and get a copy of the form however for anyone who isn't quite so close to NSW then it's not quite so convenient. There should be something online for people to update their details.

  7. Couple of things. I don't think it's probably a UTI given it doesn't happen all the time. First suggestion: you're being punished for being away. Second: there's something else on your bed that's giving off an odour. Have you washed your bedclothes with a little bleach, for example? Third, I can't recall if your dogs have access to the outside or not? Is nine hours just too long for her to hold it in? Fourth: could be the weather?
  8. I believe their was a similar emphasis placed on the attribute of the diamond on the Pug's forehead. I am not sure it is mentioned often anymore though. Is there a superstition attached to the diamond or is it something else?
  9. The story goes that to get the first recognised wheatens in Ireland, they lined up a bunch of dogs and went, 'That's an irish terrier, that's a wheaten, that's an irish ...' And indeed, if a wheaten's head is shaved down it's an irish terrier head. The kerry's head is a bit differently shaped (the long mouth, for instance) but they're all closely related. Thanks Sheridan, I really loved the description of the Irish Terrier "always on the tippy toe of anticipation". :D They definitely have forward momentum!

  11. No wheaten terriers at all. They weren't recognised by the IKC until 1937 and there's few pictures earlier than the 1920s.
  12. Also pekinese photos from 1897 and 1905 respectively. For those interested in this particular breed, there's no photos from the Ming Dynasty ...
  13. Look how little the irish water spaniel has changed.
  14. I just updated Grumpy's details on CAR as I've changed a couple of phone numbers. Went to do Mini's as she's on the NSW register and what an absolute mess! Bad enough that there's nowhere online it can be changed, the stupid website is so stupid that there's no indication of a change of details form either. Change of owner form, yes, no change of details form. Stupid NSW is stupid.
  15. The painting 'The Aran Fisherman's Drowned Child' is considered the first depiction of a wheaten terrier. Doesn't look like even the pictures of the wheatens from the early days of their first recognition. Paintings are not reliable.
  16. According to The Guardian, the bassett also failed the vet check.
  17. The only time Grumpy did a wee on a bed was when a friend was visiting just after I got him. She was with him during the day because I'd just started a new job and couldn't take the time off. I think he had a 'You're not the boss of me' moment with her. Could Sarah be reacting to Mac's behaviour?
  18. Just goes to show that AWL don't know anything about dog breeding. It would behoove Tim Vasudeva to speak to ordinary breeders (rather than, say, the hierachy of Dogs NSW who seem to be a 'How high would you like me to jump, sir?' pushover). Invite him to come onto DOL and chat to people who will be severely affected by their petition should it go through. I'm betting he won't.
  19. Photo colour on the web is often not accurate, there being only three colours, RGB.
