And what's your job, young man? "I'm the 'dog boy' ..."

What does 'space monster creating' mean? Does your comment mean side effects for human consumption also when referring to tramadol? Hallucinations. For a 12 hour drug, it took a week to wear off.
-
Watch for side effects with Tramadol. That stuff's space monster creating.

Get a full blood panel and urine test done to see if there's anything that can be picked up.

I think this is the sort of thing that JRT Rescue was referring to. There is a difference between opening a kennel and warehousing. There seems to be plenty of things about this group that are true enough without having to make things up.

What I am seeing here is a lot of complaints about PR and not a lot of complaining to authorities. The place where the animal was killed, why didn't the lady report them? They're probably very lucky they're not based in Victoria but given people are saying they send their problem dogs there, not being based there won't stop the Victorian authorities from catching up to them if someone gets attacked by one of their dogs. Not keen on dogs, the state of Victoria.

Are there symptoms other than rapid breathing/panting?

That's what I was thinking.

Given a judge spends a minute or two with each dog at best, how is temperament assessed. How do you assess 'disciplined gameness' in a kerry blue terrier or in the case of a wheaten terrier if the dog is 'good-tempered, spirited and game, full of confidence and humour, a delightful, affectionate and intelligent companion' in a minute or two? I've never seen a wheaten in a ring do the 'wheaten greetin' at a judge. I suggest that the show ring cannot assess temperament. I think it can assess alertness, hence toys being thrown around a ring to see if a dog looks at it immediately, but affection or gameness? It would be interesting to hear from some judges on this. you could weed out some of the dogs, the ones the judges can't get their hands on, the ones that pee themselves at the approach of the judge. Yes,....or those that try & snap or lunge their head around quickly when touched Neither of which is assessing the temperament against the breeds I've listed other than ruling them out, How do you assess if a dog is affectionate and delightful?

Believe it or not, They pull the dog out under clause for members of the public with no checks or temp information on the dogs, send them all over the countryside and the people pay pound rounds the adoption fee of $180. Even dogs listed as "release to rescue only" are being pulled under clause and put straight into homes. So they don't do what I thought they did?
-
Well, my observation of their FB page (and I say hi to them if they're reading this) is that they appear to give the impression of acting as go-betweens, agents if you will, between the pound and a potential adopter. e.g. I read one that gave the impression of dog in pound, person expresses interest in dog, they get dog out, then adopt dog out. Some of the dogs on the HP website seem to be quite cheap. If a dog costs $40 at HP, how much do Pound Rounds then adopt the dog out for? The same amount? Or have I got the wrong impression of what happens?

My question is has this happened previously or just since the criticism here?

... except the fact that the majority of rescues I know of can't agree on a common set of policies or procedures... *grin* T. Why do you need to? If you can agree on what makes an ethical rescue (and there seems to be enough people here that do) then what difference does it make if you don't have an exact same set of common policies and procedures?

I've seen labs in the show ring in Canberra that are quite small in size. I can't think of the name of the breeder.
-
Maybe not Nic... think PIAA and their "accredited" pet shops, kennels, etc... Policy looks great on paper only... T. If ethical rescues are directly involved in the drafting process, the results would be very different, I'd imagine. Comparing a group representing rescue and a group representing an unethical means of selling animals is like comparing apples and oranges- one is already working only in the interests of profit whereas the other is working with welfare in mind. Being accredited really shouldn't be as simple as paying a yearly membership fee. Most rescues are pretty transparent on the policies and if you know a group's policies and whether or not they conform to the accepted standard, selecting members really isn't that hard. Edited for typos There is nothing to stop ethical rescues getting together and forming their own overarching organisation.

I found out Grumpy could swim when he fell into a pool.

Exactly. If I want a dog to stay with and guard stock, I don't look at individuals within the Beagle breed. And while the occasional terrier may herd, it's not where I look for a yard dog. I would.
-
If a dog is not for sale or already in foster care and these people are taking money for that dog then that sounds like fraud to me.
-
I've been buying the whitefish treats for my two and Mr Greedy and Miss Fusspot both like them.
-
No, but the owner does have to put in the hard yards to resolve it.

I don't see PCC607 on the HP website?

Just having healthy, long-lived dogs is enough for me but what do I know? I'm not a breeder nor do I show.
