Coroner Calls For Laws On Breeding Restricted Breeds
Sheridan replied to Alyosha's topic in In The News
I have to ask the question: why did Steamboat join DOL? It certainly wasn't to talk about his/her own dog for which I can find two posts. The vast majority of posts Steamboat has made are in this thread and the RSPCA thread. Why? Because troll. Moosmum, stop feeding the troll. -

Yep. Just ignore, there's really no point. I know I shouldn't respond, but I have to refute his stupid posts, because there are visitors who are reading his crap. If these visitors read posts like his on a dog lovers forum, they might believe his crap. And they're also reading the posts that say this guy is a troll. You're falling for it, Mantis, and I urge you to just put Steamboat on ignore. If trolls don't get an audience, they stop trying to wind people up. -

Folks, as m-sass does, as Dougie does, Steamboat (if these are actually different people, which appears to be in some doubt given Steamboat posted one thing about a dog then got the boots stuck in this thread), is looking for a rise out of people. Classic troll behaviour. He/she has no actual commonsensical argument to make about this situation because he/she keeps posting contradictory information. Don't feed the troll. I have reported the behaviour. I seriously doubt whether Steamboat even has a dog. -

Apparently you are a bad owner if you don't have pedigree dogs. At least, that's the (il)logic coming out of Steamboat. -

Any Foods To Slow Senility In Dogs?

Reverse is true for my dog! -
One would presume not seeing as this is the name being advertised from pillar to post to find her. Ridiculous question. Thank you for your valuable contribution. Happy to delete my FB request to Australian friends to share the topic if my question is just too ridiculous. I'll especially ask the Queenslanders given Donatella's rudeness.

Does the puppy have another name other than 'orange'?

I don't know how many times one has to repeat something before it gets through the ingrained bias rife here. But, again. I agreed with the coroner that owners of the suspected restricted dogs should be liable to for the indentification of the breed & not the councils which declare them.. That, & "bad laws are still laws" are the sum totals of my crimes against the rabid mob mentallity. While you all rail against crimes against the ''innocent'' yet practice exactly the tactics you complain about. Starts with an aitch folks a capitol AITCH. Which is a response to ... I don't what the hell it's the response to but it sure ain't a response to my post. Yeah it was. What I replied was sum total of what I said that somehow managed to get the rabid juices flowing. I have not mentioned any ''laws'' per se, nor have I mentioned pit bulls specifically. Nor do I care who has pitbulls, their crosses or their lookalikes. My ''crime'' against the mob mentality is that, IMO, if owners are called to account the onus should be on the owner to provide indisputable proof of breed. Me?, if i'm called? I have a piece of paper provided by the breeder that says my little guy is registered with the the ANKC as a pure breed. It has a brief description, a M/C number listed that will verify the authenticity of dog it represents & three generations of ancestors, all registered with the ANKC. And I make nom apologise for my choice. Maybe those accusing me of insults would like to show where? What questions haven't I answered? Who are these other persons I am supposed to be? Talk about paranoid central. So far the only good thing to come out of this rubbish is that moosmum will no longer harass me with her lynch mob, look at me everyone I'm on fire, mentality. No one knows what you're on about and I'm pretty sure that you don't either. So yet another troll on ignore. -

And Steamboat seems unaware that there is no BSL in the ACT. Indeed, the head of the RSPCA has a delightful pitbull called Dahlia. You cannot, though Steamboat (or m-sass mark II/Dougie or whatever new persona is out and about at the moment) tries very hard to transpose laws in one state to another. What happened in Queensland does not translate to NSW or Vic or WA or wherever. -
But that's different to donating a body to science. I may get a necropsy done on Grumpy's kidneys to send to the US wheaten researcher, if it's not too difficult, but I am not giving his body to a scientific organisation.

No, I wouldn't. My dogs stay with me.

Really? When I was breeding Cairns many years ago, I always asked the would be buyers to come & see the parents. I also used to ask if I could visit their home, so I could see whether they had secure fencing & where they would be housed etc. Over the top, maybe, but I didn't want my babies going somewhere they wouldn't be safe & taken care of. Yes, really. I never met the breeder of my wheatens until he brought Grumpy to me. A more honourable and kind gentleman does not exist and were he still breeding, he would be my first port of call for another wheaten.
-
When I got my first wheaten, there was no Dogzonline. When I got my first kerry blue, there was no Dogzonline (nor Google).

Thanks for the reply, I didn't decide to go with them anyway. Just too much what if's and I really want to go it right. I wouldn't be able to go see their home or parents beforehand because we are interstate. Just more waiting :) Outside of the dodginess of the 'breeder' in question, I'd just like to point out that you don't have to see the home or parents in order to get a puppy from an ethical breeder. This 'you must see the pups and their environment' is a crock.

I don't think anyone's game enough to bet against you there. It's certainly whiffy. -
Numerous people on here have said that they do this. I've never seen numerous people say that on DOL.

I am so very sorry for your loss but I'm pleased you got to have your cuddles with him. -
Grumpy is pretty amazing. Dogs get more amazing with age, I think. :) I think my experience with Grumpy is fairly close to yours. Please feel free to PM me to have a chat. Grumpy also shares a thread with Westiemum's Mac about their dementia and other oldie issues. Please join us there, too. Grumpy doesn't have separation anxiety but I imagine the symptoms are fairly similar to dementia at times.

Poor little man. Hope he's doing better. -
Which is the fault of the commentators not the fault of the rigour of the statistics. That there are gaps in the data indicates a lack of money to collect a comprehensive set of data. I have issues with the ABS but it is in the latter not in the rigour of what is collected. Agreed - in some cases. However there are other issues with definitions, particularly around unemployment. Eg if you have worked 30 mins one week even doing something ad hoc like babysitting, you're not considered unemployed, even if it was a one off thing for literally 30 mins. If you haven't actively looked for work for a week or so (I've forgotten the exact time period) or have stopped looking for work you're not considered unemployed. Etc etc. It basically means that their figures suggest the unemployment rate is lower than it is. It's just plain wrong. And lack of money to collect comprehensive data or not, there end point is still a lack of comprehensive data - that's a problem. I won't disagree with your argument with the definition of employment!
