Skye Terrier In Blacktown Pound
Sheridan replied to Boronia's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Does anyone know his impound number? ETA. I posted to someone who I think knows some skye people on FB. -
How fabulous that an irish terrier won a group! They're so often ignored in the ring.

Skye Terrier In Blacktown Pound
Sheridan replied to Boronia's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
He should bloody well be taken in by a skye breeder. It utterly shits me off to see rare breeds in the pound and the breeders just do nothing. -
I think the discussion has been that the pounds/councils look good with lower pts figures. Is that just speculation?

I think those who think a utopian society is a good thing ought to read Utopia.

So, these people are not a rescue yet have a Clause 16D. They are not a charity yet take charitable donations. Why do pounds release dogs to them? And why doesn't every rescue who has picked up after them or had negative interactions with them, and who have evidence against them (which appears to be nearly everyone here) not put in a formal complaint that has to be investigated? And if that has happened, why haven't the authorities acted?

Canberra Carers - Arf, Cpr,cara Etc...

Not a good idea to post your address and phone number on a public forum. -
Because they're not as sexy as those vicious monster stories, I'd hazard to guess. And community service announcements still have to be paid for.

Don't you find it difficult to get up from the bed when it's so low to the ground Sheridan? I think it would just about kill me ;) Nope, not at all. Even so, the safety and comfort of the Grump is more important than my creaky back.

You cannot force people to be educated. No legislation about licensing people to own dogs will work. No amount of education will help stupid people. So what do we do? This is why I'd like a licence system and yard check. If people had to do something and pay a fee before getting a dog it would at least reduce impulse buys. No, it wouldn't. Having laws about not using mobile phones in cars does nothing to prevent people using mobile phones while driving. How would you police such a thing? You can't. How often does a ranger turn up at your door to see if your dogs are registered? They don't. And if a ranger turned up to a house where an unregistered dog is, 'Oh, the dog's just visiting. No, I can't give you the owner's name for privacy reasons. Gr8thxbai.' Even if such a thing were policeable, all you'd be doing is creating a black market.

Some of these solutions sound quite ingenious. I think if I had to do it all over again I'd still just take my bed apart and put the mattress on the floor.

That isn't quite right, Jed. The rescue who ended up with him did the pts. But either way, there is a certain amount of glass houses irony.

Did you call Ned a "monster"? No. RIP Ned and your Resolved thread if you want to remind yourself. I am certainly reminded of Ned every time you put forth an opinion on dogs. But you said amstaffs were one of your three favourite breeds and you'd worked with them in the past.

I thought dogs from NZ didn't have to have quarantine.

I don't think it has anything to do with being politically correct. I think it has everything to do with accurately assessing a situation/behaviour, without using sensational terms that only serve to create more hysteria. People should be mad, people should be livid. These dogs are dangerous and should be treated/acknowledged as such. People should be so angry that someone didn't take the time to properly raise and manage these dogs and in turn they viciously attacked a young man. These dogs are doing the breed no favours and that's what I'm furious about. Doing the breed no favours? Given it's up in the air what breed they are (media reporting notwithstanding), I think they are doing dog owners no favours.

Roll Over Rover in Grovedale used to sell it. Not sure if they still do.

Barf Vs Super Premium Commercial Foods
Sheridan replied to Inka3095's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I gave Mini a chicken neck and she pretty much swallowed it whole and then threw it up a few minutes later. Never again. -
I like it! Trust Sheridan to be the ultimate practical one!!! Oh, this was after I bought another bed that had legs about two inches high. Ultimately, that even proved to high for the Grump so I just pulled the whole thing apart. He could never manage steps.

I just took apart my bed and put the mattress on the floor.

I got accused of being a dry food evangelist for saying this on FB this week. -
Coroner Calls For Laws On Breeding Restricted Breeds
Sheridan replied to Alyosha's topic in In The News
And notably the ACT, which does not have BSL does not have an increase of dog attacks, which per capita you would expect were BSL effective. -

Ignore, ignore, ignore. Seriously, DOL becomes a much better place when such people just disappear from threads. -

Ironic that Steamboat is screeching about valid opinions while directing people that opinions are not on topic. If people stop responding then Steamboat can shout about it all he/she likes in the vacuum which will be the only existence on this forum for him/her.
