Sorry Sheridan, but where's the survey that backs up your opinion of small dog owners? I'm a small dog owner currently. I've also owned a German Shepherd Cross, a Cattle cross and rescued or facilitated the rescue of dogs over 30 kilos on a regular basis. Some small dog owners have them for reasons other than that is all they want. Many people I know are so fearful about being attacked by large dogs, they tell me they want a dog they can pick up .... some people have bad backs. some peple have small spaces ... Sarcasm hashtag was in place! All I did was substitute the usual anti-crossbreed rants for size because this thread is getting a bit odd with all the finger pointing. I have much sympathy for those who have issues walking their dogs, as I have some myself. I just don't think the increasing level of rantiness and hyperbole coming from various contributers is either useful or polite (see the post above mine and the one it's replying to).

Thank you ever so much, Bianca, but I'm hesitant to introduce something new into his diet. The pancreatic issues from the Cushings means he's on a strict diet!

Are you taking him, Shmoo? Boronia, I named a toy I had as a kid after Dougal. Was a cat but looked just like him. -
After the big dogs get banned, the little dog people will want to ban middle sized dogs and then they'll look at their own little sizes and decide that even some of those are too big. Soon it'll be nothing but chihuahuas available ... #sarcasmbutprobablynotfarofftruegiventhisthread

Has anyone advised the pound?

How adorable is that face! Poor baby, he looks so miserable. -
Unfortunately, due to his Cushing's disease, Mr Grump does not have a cast iron tummy. He's a delicate creature.

No, it's not profiling. Profiling is a psychology science. It is simply what you originally called it: a stereotype. Please don't pretend that it is the science of profiling unless you actually are a professional profiler who has published articles in psychology journals on the topic, in which case I'm sure we would all appreciate links to your papers.

Sounds great, glemhaith. Great to know that the skye breeders are onto it. -

I thought you meant the dog being in the pound. And while I completely agree with you, I think there was a suggestion that this is an ex-registered breeder. -

And if this person used to be ANKC, the skye breeders will know who he/she is and what is being produced. -
Fabulous age, bless her. Sorry for your loss.

I think what the 16 pages of this thread has shown me is that there is no way I'm even going to play that recording.

Oops sorry I read the wrong line about 70 were bred Australia wide last year but only 20 were bred 11 years ago. Where did you obtain thise number of 70 Skyes bred last year from? I think Steve read the wrong line in the spreadsheet. -

Poor little girl. Is she listed anywhere? -
Yes, sometimes Grumpy seems really good, others not. I'm keeping the hair around his eyes very short. His distance judging is not good. His temper doesn't seem any shorter. He was practically flirty with the physio on Saturday.

I'd say sharpei x from the face and ear set.

I'm hoping this actually means 'One of the breeders is hotfooting it to Blacktown to get him' rather than just being aware and not ignoring him. Rescue should be a last resort and you'd hope he'd go to a rescue that knew something about the breed. -
No, it was a lab cross ridgeback, which according to m-sass rules is a no-no cos m-sass is all kill all the crossbreeds.

Then it sounds like a police matter. I am tending to agree with Steve. It seems to me that there is a lot of bitching about these people and not a lot of people who have experience with them and the evidence willing to take it to the authorities and then taking it further when the authorities don't do anything. If the council doesn't act take it to the Dept. If the Dept doesn't act, take it to the Minister. If the Minister doesn't work, take it to the press.

No one has heard from their breeder contacts? I haven't. -
Thought it was time for a Grumpy update. :) His Nibs' Cushings is under control, though I have noticed him drinking more again and panting more at night. He's due for another test later this month so his medication might need some adjusting. He's seeing a physio once a month and although he is still sagging in his back end, she's quite pleased with his balance. Needs to engage his core muscles - don't we all ... In terms of his dementia, I think it is slowly getting worse, though it may have more to do with his eyesight. He has some difficulty judging distance. Yesterday at the physio, he took a flying leap off the floor mat, obviously thinking it was much higher than it was (which was an inch off the ground but a different colour). He also has a bit of difficulty with the bed, obviously, because of that. He sometimes gets up at night and just turns in circles. He seems to not know what he wants to do. Again, I think this is to do with his eyesight because he can't see where the back door is. If I get up and open the door he'll go outside but getting back on the bed is hard for him and he doesn't like being picked up (in an 'I can do it myself!' Way).

Thanks, Boronia. Have passed those on.
